Chapter 117: Midnight Attack

That night, when I was getting ready to go to bed, my cell phone suddenly rang. I picked it up and said "Hello" twice, but there was no voice, only a slight sobbing sound.

"Xia Xue, is that you?" I suddenly woke up and my voice trembled slightly.

There was still no sound from inside, but the sobbing became heavier.

"Xia Xue, I'm sorry." I said, "I lost my mind last time. I actually took Su Xiaobai's words seriously..."

There was still no one talking inside, so I kept talking alone, and I was particularly afraid that Xia Xue would hang up the phone. I had always thought that I was afraid to face Xia Xue, until this call came, and I was sure that I should be responsible for this matter, and I couldn't escape like a coward. "If you are willing to wait for me," I said, "I will definitely marry you when I get out of the cell."

There was no talk from inside, and the call ended after a while. I stood there in a daze, listening to the beeping sound from inside, and leaned against the wall helplessly, but I was no longer sleepy, and my mind was full of what happened with Xia Xue that day.

After some time, there was a noise in the cage. I thought someone was going to the bathroom, so I didn't take it seriously. But after a while, the noises gradually increased, and it seemed that many people stood up. I opened my eyes curiously and saw that in the cage, except for me and Ma Wulong who was snoring loudly, everyone stood up, a total of eight people. What were they doing in the middle of the night?

There was no light, and I could only vaguely see the silhouettes of people. I found that they were tiptoeing towards Ma Wulong, and suddenly I understood what they were going to do. Without thinking, I shouted, "Brother Ma!"

Ma Wulong suddenly sat up on the bench. The cage was also boiling, and everyone rushed towards Ma Wulong. "Damn it, that kid ruined our business, let's deal with Ma Wulong first, then deal with him!" said the man who imitated the dog barking before, who was the former head of this cage. Ma Wulong stood up suddenly and punched the person who came first. The man flew out without a sound. Then, Ma Wulong started fighting with others. For a while, the sound of "bang bang bang" was endless. The scene was too dark to see clearly, and there was only the sound of panting and fighting.

"You bastard, you're tired of living!" Ma Wulong roared and fought with several people.

There was a loud commotion next door as well, with people shouting, "Brother Ma, what's going on?" "Damn it, what are you doing in the middle of the night?" "You dare to attack our Brother Ma, are you tired of living?" "Wang Hao, go up and help our Brother Ma, we will repay you even if we become ghosts!" I've only heard that even ghosts will not let you go, but I've never heard that ghosts will repay you.

But Ma Wulong was really nice to me these days, so I couldn't just sit there and watch, so I joined the fight, caught a slightly thinner guy, and tried to pin him to the ground. But I was wrong, the gap between an adult and a high school student was too big, and he just elbowed me back and pushed me away.

"You little bastard, this is none of your business." The man cursed, "I'll deal with you, a flatterer, later..."

I was furious. I had been speaking up for them these past few days, but in the end they said I was a bootlicker. Ma Wulong was right. To survive in this world, you can’t be too kind. Kind people are bullied! Only evil people can scare others!

I was really mad, I picked up the chamber pot in the corner, which was full of shit and piss, and poured it into the melee.

"Fuck!" Those people started to curse, and three or four of them rushed towards me. I kicked the first person in the stomach, but it seemed like I just kicked a wall. The other person didn't even move, and grabbed me and threw me against the wall. My whole body was pressed against the wall, and I grimaced in pain. In front of three or four adults, I could only stand there and take the beating. In a flash, several people's fists and feet were on me. I covered my head tightly and used my body to resist the beatings from these people who were not good people to begin with.

The other cages began to clamor, shouting: "Fight, fight, fight! Kill one less!"

The policeman on duty couldn’t possibly be unaware of such a chaotic environment, but he just refused to come over and take a look. It really made me anxious.

Fortunately, my disturbance finally bought Ma Wulong some time. After a few punches and kicks, Ma Wulong finally knocked down the people around him, and then ran towards me. "What's the big deal about beating up a child!" Ma Wulong roared, grabbed the guy who beat me the hardest, lifted him up, and threw him to the ground. He really has supernatural power!

The man who fell to the ground groaned and stopped moving. Seeing this, the others also did not dare to move.

I finally got a break, and slowly sat down against the wall, rubbing the pain in my body. This old scum was really vicious, and showed no mercy at all just because I was a child. Ma Wulong was a pretend villain, and they were the real villains. Such villains can only be dealt with by more evil means.

"Alright, that's pretty awesome." Ma Wulong looked at the people who were still standing and said, "Who came up with the idea to attack me in the middle of the night?"

A voice came from the next cage: "Haha, Ma Wulong, you weren't beaten to death? What a pity."

"Don't worry, I won't die. Otherwise, who will burn paper for you bastards every Qingming Festival?" Ma Wulong said nonchalantly, then walked up to the man who imitated the barking of a dog and said, "You are the one who started it, right?"

The man was trembling and swallowing from time to time. He seemed to be extremely scared.
