"No problem. -- --" I accepted Liu Xiangrong's flattery frankly.
After finishing the meal, it was almost time for class. I paid the bill, and the three of us went back to school together. On the way, Liu Xiangrong's flattery towards me became more obvious. He now regarded me as his only lifeline. Entering the teaching building, Liu Xiangrong went to the direction of Special 2, while Li Wenchao and I went the same way. Li Wenchao asked me: "Brother Hao, our boss has something to ask you, right?" I nodded: "It's a small matter." Li Wenchao said: "Don't be modest. If our boss can ask for something, it must be a big deal." I laughed. Everyone looks at problems from a different perspective.
In the evening, I went to the food street in the south of the city alone. It's called a food street, but it's actually a row of food stalls. Because of the season, business is not very good now, and most of the owners are sitting idle in their stalls. I "randomly" picked a seat, ordered a bowl of beef stew noodles, and sat down to eat slowly. The food stalls were built with plastic tarpaulin, the quality was not very good, some places had holes and leaked air, and you could vaguely see the empty space behind the tarpaulin.
Behind this row of food stalls was a half-demolished construction site, with rocks and garbage everywhere. Halfway through my noodle dish, I heard the footsteps of several people approaching, followed by the sound of a slap. Apparently, a common violence scene was taking place behind me.
"What about what I asked you to do?!" A fierce voice sounded, accompanied by a few "slap" sounds, it really is a question and a few slaps. Looking through the hole in the oilcloth, I saw three or four very fierce young men surrounding a boy, questioning him while slapping him, and occasionally kicking him a few times. The boy was of course Liu Xiangrong, who was usually so arrogant in school, but at this moment he was like a deflated ball. One thing conquers another, an eternal truth.
"It's... not done yet..." Liu Xiangrong said fearfully. "Damn it, you don't take us from the Black Tiger Gang seriously, right?!" Several young men were furious at the same time, and they surrounded Liu Xiangrong and beat him up. Liu Xiangrong screamed, but begging for mercy was completely useless at this time. The owner of the food stall was obviously used to this kind of thing. He sat on a stool at the door, smoking and looking at the stars in the sky. I don't know if he was thinking about the philosophy of life or family matters. But in short, it must have nothing to do with the violent incident just across the street. Of course, I didn't care, but watched and listened quietly.
"Damn it, either do it quickly or pay back the 100,000, your choice!" The young man's tone was overbearing and unquestionable.
"I'll do it, I'll do it!" Liu Xiangrong said, "Give me a few more days, it's really hard to take down that guy!"
The young men beat him for a while and then said, "Come back here in three days. If you still haven't done it, you know the consequences yourself!" Then they went away cursing, leaving Liu Xiangrong alone.
I had just finished my bowl of noodles, stood up to pay the bill, grabbed some napkins, and slowly walked around the food stalls to Liu Xiangrong who was still lying on the ground. Liu Xiangrong's face was covered in blood, and he was lying on the ground gasping for breath. I squatted down and handed him the napkin. He half sat up, supported himself on the ground with one hand, and wiped the blood on his face with the napkin, cursing as he wiped: "Damn it, damn it." I said: "Wipe it quickly, don't wait for them to go away."
Liu Xiangrong threw the two bloody paper balls on the ground and stood up: "Let's go!"
We quickened our pace, followed the voices of the young men, slowly came behind them, and then began to follow them not too far away. After passing through two alleys, the young men walked into a restaurant. The restaurant was very small, and if Liu Xiangrong and I went in, we might be discovered by them. I observed the surrounding environment and took Liu Xiangrong to the back of the restaurant. The restaurant also had a back door that led directly to the restaurant's kitchen. We went in through the back door, stuffed two boxes of cigarettes into the chef's pocket, and then lay at the door to observe the movements outside.
The young men who had beaten Liu Xiangrong earlier were now sitting around a table, chatting and laughing, but they were not in a hurry to order food, and seemed to be waiting for someone to come. After waiting for a while, a young man walked in, and the young men immediately stood up and greeted him. When Liu Xiangrong saw this man, his eyes were spitting fire, and he uttered a few words: "Zhang Yunfei!" The young man who came was of course Zhang Yunfei, and these people were also hired by Zhang Yunfei to deceive Liu Xiangrong.
I patted Liu Xiangrong on the shoulder: "Now you know who is behind you, right?" Liu Xiangrong nodded heavily, clenched his hands tightly, as if he wanted to rush out and fight them right now. I signaled him not to be impulsive and just watch. After Zhang Yunfei came, he started to order food and asked about their evening. They told him everything, probably to show off their achievements, and made Liu Xiangrong look very frustrated - although he really was frustrated.
Liu Xiangrong was furious when he heard this. He tried to rush out with the kitchen knife several times, but I stopped him. I told him not to be impulsive. Even if he picked up two kitchen knives, he would not be a match for those people outside. Moreover, Zhang Yunfei must have brought his men with him, and they should be guarding the restaurant door. If he rushed out rashly, he would definitely die.
Liu Xiangrong became more and more anxious as he listened - in fact, it was understandable, no matter who heard someone say bad things about him, he would be anxious. Liu Xiangrong weighed his own strength and felt that it was not realistic to break out alone, so he immediately said: "Brother Hao, let's call the brothers over now and catch them all here!" I said: "Your idea is very good. But have you ever thought that by the time our people come, they will have finished their meal and left?" Liu Xiangrong thought so too, and was as anxious as an ant on a hot pot: "What should I do, why don't I take revenge?" I said: "Of course I have to take revenge, but not now." Liu Xiangrong was still very anxious: "When will it be? I really can't swallow this breath!" He didn't know how many times he had been beaten, and he always thought that those people were really from the Black Tiger Gang, so of course he couldn't swallow this breath.
