Not only that, he stretched out his hand, pretending to hit me. I blocked his wrist with my hand and said coldly, "I was talking about another chef." Zhou Mo said sternly beside him, "This is my friend, how dare you hit him?!"

The chef quickly put down his hand and asked, "Which chef are you talking about?"

I said, "I heard you call him Xiao Wei." The head chef was surprised and said, "Xiao Wei? How is that possible? He has been with me for many years and he would never do such a thing." Butler Wang next to him said, "Chef Wen, call Xiao Wei over. Maybe the package is still on him." He then said to Zhou Honglin, "Boss Zhou, how do you think about this?"

Zhou Honglin tapped the table lightly and nodded slowly. Chef Wen turned around and hurried out of the study. We continued to wait. Zhou Honglin picked up the book again and started reading it seriously. Only then did I notice that he was reading One Hundred Years of Solitude. I had read this book before, but I couldn't finish it because I thought it was a bit boring. I didn't expect Zhou Honglin to read it with such relish.

After a while, Chef Wen came in, followed by a little chef, who was the guy who put something into the soup pot before. Zhou Honglin put down the book, and Chef Wen said, "Xiao Wei, explain the matter clearly!" Xiao Wei walked in trembling, and said tremblingly, "What are you talking about?" Chef Wen slapped him, "Are you still pretending? What did you put into Mr. Zhou's soup pot!" Xiao Wei cried, "I didn't put anything, Brother Wen..."

I saw his pockets were bulging, so I rushed over and took out the paper bag inside. It was exactly the same as the one I saw before. I held up the paper bag and said, "This is it!" Xiao Wei was panicking and reached out to grab it, but Chef Wen kicked him away. Zhou Honglin waved his hand and said, "Butler Wang, open it and see what it is." Butler Wang came over and took the paper bag from me. After opening it, there was indeed some white powder inside. But I frowned, it seemed... different from the previous powder.

Steward Wang twisted it with his hands and said curiously, "It seems to be salt?" Everyone was surprised, but Zhou Honglin was still sitting there as steady as a rock. Chef Wen came over, pinched some powder with his hands, put it in his mouth to taste it, and said with certainty, "It is indeed salt!"

Zhou Honglin frowned slightly and looked at Xiao Wei: "Why did you put salt in my soup?"

"I...I..." Xiao Wei began to stutter.

Chef Wen kicked him again. Chef Wen was tall and strong, while Xiao Wei was skinny, so he fell to the ground immediately. Chef Wen scolded, "Tell me, why did you add salt!" Now he was very confident. Xiao Wei said with a sad face, "Because... because I thought the soup you made was a little bland, so I added some salt without permission." Chef Wen raised his eyebrows and glared, scolding, "You've only been with me for a few years, and now you're picking on me? You're so bold!" He kicked him several more times in a row. Xiao Wei rolled over and over after being kicked, howling and begging for mercy in pain, "Brother Wen, I won't dare to do it again, I won't dare to do it again!"

Zhou Honglin waved his hands, but Chef Wen didn't hear him and continued to beat Xiao Wei. Butler Wang said, "Chef Wen, that's enough!" Chef Wen stopped beating Xiao Wei and said with a shameless face, "Boss Zhou, I'm so sorry. I didn't discipline him well enough. I promise that this will never happen again." Butler Wang frowned and said, "Did I tell you that when you cook for Boss Zhou, you can't leave the stove for a moment?" His tone was not loud, but full of authority. Chef Wen said tremblingly, "I went to the toilet... I won't do that again." Butler Wang said nothing, but just looked at him with a knife-like gaze.

Chef Wen was terrified. He knelt down suddenly, kowtowed and said, "Butler Wang, I was wrong, I was wrong."

Butler Wang turned to look at Zhou Honglin, bowed his head and said, "Boss Zhou, what do you think we should do?" Zhou Honglin said calmly, "It didn't cause any serious consequences, so let it go this time. Chef Wen, you've worked here for many years, don't let similar situations happen again in the future." Chef Wen nodded like a chick pecking at rice, "Yes, yes, yes, I won't do it again."

Zhou Mo also breathed a sigh of relief, holding my arm and smiling at me sweetly. As long as her father is okay, she will be very happy. But I frowned, thinking that there is something wrong. I heard Butler Wang say again: "What about this Xiao Wei?" Xiao Wei got up from the ground, kowtowed and said: "Mr. Zhou, I dare not, I will never let it go again." Zhou Honglin asked him: "How long have you been doing this?" Xiao Wei hesitated for a moment and said: "For a long time. I think Brother Wen's cooking is very bland, so I can't help but add some salt for him. I didn't expect that this time I would make things worse and be mistaken for poisoning. I hope Mr. Zhou will not hold my fault against me."

When Chef Wen heard this, he glared at him again: "How dare you say my food is bland, you bastard? I've been in the Zhou family for seven or eight years, and I don't know what Mr. Zhou likes?" Xiao Wei bit her lip and said nothing, letting Chef Wen scold her. Zhou Honglin said: "Don't scold him. I drink this soup every day and I think it tastes just right. If he added the salt, it's really good. Old Wen, you should improve, haha! Be careful that your apprentice will take your job away!" He smiled, and everyone in the study breathed a sigh of relief.

Chef Wen stood up, showing an honest smile, stroking the back of his head and said: "Teaching the apprentice will starve the master to death." Xiao Wei also said embarrassedly: "Brother Wen, I will never do it again!" Chef Wen said: "No, you will be responsible for adding salt from now on."

It was a harmonious scene, everyone had a relaxed smile on their face, only I was still frowning as I stared at the package in Butler Wang's hand. Zhou Mo poked me gently and asked, "What's wrong with you?" I shook my head. Without evidence, I couldn't say anything, and no one would believe me anyway. I just heard Zhou Honglin say, "Lao Wen, bring me a bowl of soup."
