Chapter 1: A Takeout Order from the Underworld

[Ding! You have a new food delivery order, please check it!]

At 10 p.m., Chu Yu, who worked part-time as a food delivery driver, was just about to finish work and go home when a notification sound suddenly came from her phone.

Chu Yu frowned slightly. Hadn't she already stopped taking orders? How come new orders were coming in?

She picked up her phone, just about to check the backend of the food delivery app, when the screen suddenly flashed and an unfamiliar app appeared on the screen.

The software is called Mingtuan. Its icon has a black background with a white ghost pattern on it, which looks a bit eerie.

What software is this?

She clicked on it, and the software displayed a prompt: "Please complete the initial task before starting the program."

What initial tasks? Is this some kind of junk software designed to trick people into spending money?

She muttered a complaint to herself, wanting to delete the software, but failed several times.

At this moment, she received a message urging her to deliver the order as soon as possible. In order not to be late, she had no choice but to ride her electric scooter to deliver the order.

Chu Yu is twenty years old and a junior at Peking University.

She was separated from her family when she was a child and was abducted by human traffickers. She was later rescued by the old abbot of Qingxuan Temple and grew up in the temple.

A month ago, the old abbot passed away, and the Taoist temple suddenly received a huge debt collection bill. In order to earn money to pay off the debt, Chu Yu could only use his spare time to do various part-time jobs.

Soon after, Chu Yu picked up the meal box from the restaurant and headed to the customer's residence in the old town of the western suburbs.

The old town is slated for demolition, and not many people live there anymore. The surrounding cement roads are full of potholes, some of the streetlights are broken, making the lighting dim. A milky white mist hangs in the air, making the place quiet and gloomy.

In the fog, a black luxury car drove towards us, with a news broadcast playing on the hood.

Several murders have occurred in the city recently, and the perpetrator has not yet been apprehended. Residents are advised to exercise caution when going out.

The order was about to expire, and Chu Yu was speeding along on her electric scooter, not paying much attention to the news.

Ten minutes later, Chu Yu arrived at an old-style residential building, got out of the car, and ran into the building with the takeout in her hand.

The customer lived on the 5th floor. The corridor was long and dark, and the doors of the houses on both sides were tightly closed, covered with dust and cobwebs, as if no one had lived there for a long time. The lights above flickered, creating an eerie atmosphere.

Chu Yu arrived at the door of apartment 504 and knocked: "Hello, your takeout has arrived!"

Before he could finish speaking, the streetlights suddenly went out with a snap, plunging the surroundings into darkness, and a gust of cold wind blew up.

"You're overtime!"

A sinister, low voice came from the depths of the corridor, sending chills down one's spine.

Chu Yu looked up and suddenly saw a male ghost at the end of the corridor, wearing a tattered white vest, covered in blood, and with only half a head.

The male ghost stared with a blood-red eye, and a stream of blood flowed from its eye socket, which was extremely terrifying.

"Giggle..."

He grinned, revealing a sinister smile to Chu Yu.

If it were anyone else, they would probably have fainted from fright, but Chu Yu only raised an eyebrow slightly.

She was born in a yin year, yin month, and yin hour, and has a pure yin constitution. She possesses a pair of yin-yang eyes and has been able to see ghosts since she was a child.

Her master was a big name in the metaphysics world, with profound Taoist skills. She learned the five arts of metaphysics from her master since she was a child, and was proficient in divination and exorcism.

The male ghost was puzzled to see that Chu Yu was not afraid of him. Most people would be scared out of their wits and cry out in terror when they saw him. How could this little girl be so calm?

He flashed and appeared in front of Chu Yu, baring his teeth and brandishing his claws as he said to her, "I am a ghost."

"oh!"

Chu Yu gave him a cold glance; the customer who placed the order was actually a ghost.

Although the ghost looked frightening, it was a new ghost with no malevolent aura and had never harmed anyone. The soul-ferrymen of the underworld would come to ferry him, so she didn't bother with it and handed over the takeout: "Here's your takeout."

This was the first time the male ghost had revealed himself to scare someone, and he was very dissatisfied with her attitude. He shouted angrily, "You're not afraid of me? You're despicable! I'm going to eat you!"

He slapped the takeout box over, and his half-open mouth instantly turned into a gaping maw as he viciously lunged at Chu Yu.

A cold glint flashed in Chu Yu's eyes, and she threw a punch. The punch carried an extremely strong force, like a thousand-pound hammer crashing down. With a loud bang, the male ghost was sent flying, crashing violently into the opposite wall. His entire body was smashed into a pulp, and half of his head fell off his neck and rolled to Chu Yu's feet.

Chu Yu stomped on it without hesitation, and with a crack, the head was instantly flattened. The male ghost let out a miserable scream and burst into tears.

My god, I thought she was just an ordinary person, but I didn't expect her to be so powerful. Not only is she powerful, but she's also so violent, she even stomped his head flat.

"Since you actually wanted to harm someone, then I'll take you in."

Chu Yu took out a talisman and was about to capture him when the male ghost cried out in terror, "Master, spare me! I just wanted to scare you, I didn't mean to harm you. I've never harmed anyone else, I'm a good ghost!"

Fearing that Chu Yu wouldn't believe him, he quickly swore an oath.

Chu Yu then let go of the man's head, which had been flattened, and quickly restored it to its original shape. He manipulated his body to slide down the wall, picked up the head, and deftly attached it to his neck. He also took out the other half of the head from behind him and stuck it on.

After straightening himself up, he stood up properly and told Chu Yu about his ordeal.

The male ghost's name is Wang Qiang. He is a homebody who loves playing video games. His parents are gone, and he lives alone in this building.

Some time ago, he met a female netizen in a game, and the two started an online relationship. After dating for a while, the female netizen asked him to meet her in person.

After meeting, the female netizen was very beautiful, and he became lustful and wanted to take her home to do some shameful things. Unexpectedly, as soon as he got home, the female netizen revealed her true colors. She was actually a perverted killer dressed as a woman. She first drugged Wang Qiang and then brutally murdered him.
