Chapter 64 Secrets of the Mental Hospital

the next day.

Today is Saturday, and school is on holiday. At nine o'clock in the morning, Chu Yu arrived at the mental hospital where she had stayed the night before.

She bought a fruit basket to visit Sima Mingchao in the hospital ward.

Upon arriving at the seventh floor of the inpatient department, where the tenth ward was located, I heard Sima Mingchao shouting as soon as I got off the elevator: "I'm cured, I'm not sick, I want to be discharged, I want to be discharged."

Chu Yu followed the sound and saw Sima Mingchao angrily banging on the table at the nurses' information desk, demanding to be discharged.

The nurse next to him looked at him and said urgently, "You're not better yet. You're sick and can't be discharged."

Sima Mingchao retorted coldly, "You're talking nonsense, I'm not sick."

The nurse pursed her lips helplessly, remained silent for a few seconds, and then said to him, "Then I'll give you a test. If you can answer it correctly, it proves that you are not sick and you can be discharged. If you answer it incorrectly, you cannot be discharged."

The boisterous Sima Mingchao immediately quieted down and nodded in agreement: "Okay, you give me the question."

The nurse asked the question in a very serious tone: "What food is produced in all directions and loved by everyone?"

Sima Mingchao immediately replied, "Rice."

The nurse shook her head: "That's not right."

Sima Mingchao guessed again: "Noodles."

The nurse shook her head again: "No."

Sima Mingchao guessed several more times but got them all wrong. He asked helplessly, "No matter how I guess, I can't get it right. What is it then?"

The nurse smirked: "The answer is melon. Everyone loves melons."

Sima Mingchao: "..."

The nurse said sternly, "See? You can't even guess such a simple answer. It's clear you're not fully recovered and can't be discharged."

Sima Mingchao sighed in frustration and turned to leave.

Chu Yu took the opportunity to step forward and inquire about Sima Mingchao's condition from the nurse.

The nurse said that Sima Mingchao had been admitted to the hospital half a month ago and was diagnosed with schizophrenia. No one had visited him during this time.

"He seemed to have been a Taoist priest before. When he first moved in, he would run around every night with a peach wood sword, shouting that he was going to catch ghosts, causing chaos throughout the hospital."

There was nothing we could do but give him sedatives and force him to sleep and rest. After a while, he forgot he was a Taoist priest and started fantasizing about being various animals and plants. At night, he would go to the trees in the garden to meditate and cultivate. In short, it was very strange.

The nurse complained to Chu Yu for a few minutes, and Chu Yu remained silent for a while before suddenly remembering something.

Six months ago, she accompanied her master to visit the Xuanwu Temple in the north. The abbot of Xuanwu Temple had a very favored disciple named Sima Mingchao, who had spoken a few words with her master.

Sima Mingchao was full of vigor and confidence at that time. Unexpectedly, after half a year, he would appear in a mental hospital.

Sima Mingchao's cultivation level was not low. Generally, cultivators have stronger souls and their spirits do not easily separate from the body. However, he is now missing one soul and one spirit and has become a mental patient. This is somewhat strange.

Chu Yu bid farewell to the nurses and went to Sima Mingchao's ward.

Sima Mingchao was squatting in the corner, lost in thought, when Chu Yu walked up to him and greeted him: "Sima Mingchao, do you remember me?"

Sima Mingchao looked up at her, and after a few seconds of confusion, his eyes lit up and he exclaimed, "You're Jerry, the big rat from last night!"

Chu Yu's lips twitched, and she corrected him: "I'm not Jerry."

Sima Mingchao tilted his head and thought for a moment, then suddenly realized: "Oh, you're not Jerry, you're Talking Tom."

Chu Yu raised her hand to her forehead in confusion, too lazy to argue with him. She squatted down and asked, "Do you still remember how you became like this?"

Sima Mingchao shook his head: "I don't remember."

After saying that, he sat down to meditate and muttered to himself, "Today I am a big radish. I am going to start cultivating. After I succeed in cultivating, I will become Jerry. When I become Jerry, I can bully Talking Tom."

Chu Yu: "..."

This makes normal communication impossible.

Chu Yu stood up, placed the fruit basket on the bedside table next to Sima Mingchao's bed, and was about to leave when she saw two other patients from the same ward walk in.

The two men were both young, their eyes glazed over, talking to themselves.

Chu Yu carefully examined them and found that they had the same symptoms as Sima Mingchao: their souls were unstable and they were missing one soul and one spirit.

Chu Yu was somewhat surprised.

How can their symptoms be so similar?

She had a guess in her mind, and immediately left the ward to observe the other patients.

After going around in circles, she discovered that all the patients were young men, and they were all missing a part of their soul and spirit, and their symptoms were similar.

The fact that so many patients are suffering from dissociative identity disorder makes this even more puzzling.

Just as she was pondering this, a cold voice came from behind her: "Who are you? Why are you wandering around the ward?"

Chu Yu was startled and turned around to see Dean Xu Chenyang leading a group of people over.

Xu Chenyang looked at Chu Yu with sharp eyes and a wary expression.

Chu Yu immediately explained, "I'm here to visit the patient."

Xu Chenyang snorted coldly, displeased: "Since you're here to visit a patient, why are you wandering around the ward? This is a mental hospital, unlike other hospitals. The management is very strict, and outsiders are not allowed to wander around. You have violated the hospital's rules. Leave now."

He forcefully drove Chu Yu away, and Chu Yu, displeased, had no choice but to leave.

As she walked out of the hospital building, her face darkened as she thought about Xu Chenyang's terrible attitude earlier.

Normally, the hospital director rarely makes rounds in the inpatient department. Xu Chenyang's sudden visit, coupled with his earlier nervousness, clearly indicates that he has something to hide.
