The bodyguards stepped forward to drive Chu Yu away, but Fu Yunche's expression turned cold, and he immediately shouted, "Stop! She is a guest and cannot be driven away."
Fu Tongbai glared at him fiercely and scolded angrily, "What, are you going to protect her? Could it be that you're in cahoots with her to harm your grandmother?"
Fu Yunche retorted angrily, "Second Uncle, don't talk nonsense. Miss Chu said she wanted to exorcise the evil spirits, but you're so nervous. Could it be that you have something to hide?"
He stared sharply at him, and Fu Tongbai felt a pang of guilt. He then retorted angrily, "Yun Che, you're too presumptuous! How dare you speak to your elders like that? What era are we living in? You're still indulging in feudal superstitions. It's a waste of your grandparents' teachings."
Fu Yunche scoffed, "Whether it's feudal superstition or not, we'll know once Miss Chu tries it."
He winked at Chu Yu, who understood and took out a talisman from his pocket, tossing it into the air. The talisman flew into the air and headed towards the courtyard opposite.
Upon seeing this, someone exclaimed, "My God, the talisman is flying up!"
Song Ze, standing behind her, looked at Chu Yu with admiration: "Miss Chu is indeed incredibly capable."
Fu Tongbai's expression changed.
Chu Yu explained to Fu Yunche, "This is a tracking talisman. It can track the evil spirits' hiding places based on their malevolent energy."
A hint of surprise flashed in Fu Yunche's eyes, and his gaze toward Chu Yu became more respectful: "Then I'll have to trouble you."
Chu Yu nodded and chased after the direction the talisman had flown away.
Fu Yunche and Fu Tongbai each led their own men and followed.
The Fu family's old residence is a retro-style building with a garden-style layout. It covers a vast area with many courtyards, and every angle is a beautiful landscape painting. Every brick and tile is magnificent and precious.
As Chu Yu followed the tracking talisman, she looked around and secretly marveled. The Fu family truly lived up to their reputation as the richest family in the country; this mansion was even more magnificent than the Qing Dynasty prince's residence.
A moment later, the talisman flew to the front of a courtyard, and the plaque above the courtyard gate read "Fengwu Courtyard".
Chu Yu looked into the courtyard and saw a layer of black mist shrouding the courtyard, filled with resentment. It seemed that the evil spirit was hiding in this courtyard.
She was about to push the door open when Fu Tongbai stopped her: "This is the old man's study. Outsiders are not allowed to go in."
Chu Yu looked at him coldly and said seriously, "The evil spirit is hiding in this courtyard. If we don't go in, we can't get rid of it."
Fu Tongbai, his face grim, rebuked, "The old man's study is a quiet place, how could there be evil spirits there? Don't talk nonsense here, you..."
"Open the door!"
Fu Yunche suddenly interrupted Fu Tongbai and ordered someone to open the door. Soon, the courtyard gate was opened, and Fu Tongbai was furious.
Fu Yunche led Chu Yu into the courtyard.
The tracking talisman flew into the courtyard and disappeared into thin air at the door of a room. Chu Yu instantly understood.
“The evil spirit is hiding in this room.”
She grabbed an exorcism talisman and threw it towards the room. The talisman flew like lightning and landed on the door, bursting with a bolt of lightning. With a crackling sound, the barrier on the door shattered, and then, with a bang, the door opened.
Suddenly, a gust of cold wind blew out like a hurricane, and the people behind them were instantly blown to the ground.
Before they could get up, the surrounding light dimmed, as if it were night, and a blood-covered, ferocious-looking female ghost in red rushed out of the room.
"Ah! A ghost!"
The crowd was terrified, and some of the more timid ones screamed and fled.
Even the usually composed Fu Yunche's expression changed, and Song Ze exclaimed in a trembling voice, "My God, there really are ghosts in this world!"
"Anyone who dares to disturb my peace shall die!"
The female ghost angrily opened her blood-red maw, and a bloody tongue shot out like a sharp sword, sweeping towards the fleeing people.
Seeing that those people were about to die, a white light flashed in Chu Yu's hand, and a Demon-Subduing Umbrella appeared. She leaped up and used the Demon-Subduing Umbrella to block the tongue's attack. Then, with a flick of her hand, the Demon-Subduing Umbrella flew out. The surface of the umbrella was like a sharp knife, slicing through the air and cutting the female ghost's tongue in two with a whoosh.
The female ghost cried out in pain, angrily waving her claws as she lunged at Chu Yu.
Chu Yu leaped two meters away, dodging her attack. With a flick of her wrist, the Demon-Subduing Umbrella flew back into her hand.
The next second, with a "whoosh!" she drew a black longsword from the umbrella handle. As the female ghost launched another attack with a ferocious expression, she flicked her wrist, and the longsword flew out, instantly piercing the female ghost.
The female ghost screamed in agony as she turned to ashes.
After the female ghost disappeared, the surrounding evil aura dissipated, and the courtyard became bright again.
Everyone was stunned by what they saw.
Most of them did not believe in ghosts or gods, but they did not expect that they had not only seen a ghost, but also a female Taoist priest killing a ghost.
This is terrifying; it completely overturns our understanding of what's possible.
Just then, a piece of blue and white porcelain rolled off the shelf in the room and shattered with a crash, from which a small wooden puppet fell out.
Chu Yu put away the Demon-Subduing Umbrella, stepped into the room, picked up the puppet, which was in the shape of a female ghost, ferocious and terrifying. There was a note on its back, which, upon closer inspection, was the old lady's birth date and time.
Fu Yunche walked in and saw the female ghost puppet. A chilling glint flashed in his deep eyes: "So she really did cast a curse. Damn it!"
Looking at the broken blue and white porcelain, Song Ze thought of something, turned to look at Fu Tongbai, who was standing at the door with a pale face, and whispered, "Master, this blue and white porcelain seems to have been delivered by the Second Master's men."
Fu Yunche turned to look at Fu Tongbai, his icy gaze as terrifying as a knife. Fu Tongbai trembled, and just as he was about to deny it guiltily, a servant rushed over to report: "Second Master, Second Young Master, the Old Madam has woken up."
