Chapter 552

"The assassin is a male, 180 centimeters tall... Let me see more clearly... Ah, he's a black-haired, black-eyed boy about our age! Also, I've never seen his weapon before; it's a black thing shaped like a scimitar."

"Is that so... Continue monitoring." A sense of unease flashed through Philsa's mind. He didn't dwell on it and continued to carefully observe the situation below.

The swordsman and the female knight stepped forward, raising their weapons to face the enemy.

"Poor fellow, doesn't even dare to show his face?" A burning fighting spirit blazed in the swordsman's eyes; he was determined to win this battle.

The female knight remained calm and composed, holding the greatsword in both hands.

The swordsman leaped into the air. At the same time, the female knight shifted to the side. After the two were off the ground, the archer behind them drew his bow, firing five arrows in quick succession.

The three attacked simultaneously: a barrage of arrows flying in almost at the same time; a heavy gust of sword wind rising to the left of the shadowy figure; and flashes of cold light streaking across the air. Dodge in any direction would be suicide, and being hit by any of them would result in severe injury.

"So—how will you break through the initial siege, assassin?" Philsa, hidden above, smirked. He was more of a spectator than a monitor. He anticipated that the assassin wouldn't be so easily trapped, and continued to watch with keen interest.

"Felsa... the assassin, he... he smiled!" Sherry's exclamation confirmed that Felsa's guess was correct.

A shadowy figure appeared in Shirley's vision—a boy dressed in black, with black hair and black eyes. A mysterious smile appeared on his profile, as if he had already seen through the three's tricks and found a way to break through their encirclement.

The assassin raised the black object he was holding in his right hand, made a forward lunge motion, and then vanished into thin air.

The next instant, Shirley realized that he had not disappeared, but had turned into a shadow moving stealthily on the ground.

This move, before the three could even react, easily bypassed the fierce attack from all three sides.

Sherry's eyes followed the shadowy figure's movement and she discovered that his target was actually the archer standing behind him.

The archer realized this, but having no close-combat ability, he could only raise his bow again to try and stop the shadowy figure from advancing.

This was completely futile. Sherry, also an archer, concluded this.

Before he even got into a shooting position, or even before the archer had drawn an arrow from the quiver on his back, a murderous aura had already reached his cheeks. A chilling cold and fear instantly enveloped his entire body; he could already foresee his fate in the next second.

"Oh no! This is terrible!" Shirley exclaimed anxiously again.

"What's wrong?" Philsa hadn't observed the battlefield situation so closely, so he asked.

"The archer... he's been defeated!"

"..."

"Ah ...

Swift as thunder, sound like falling leaves. The archer, completely unprepared for this sudden and fatal blow, was thrown several meters away by the impact of the slash.

The horizontal cut across his chest was not caused by a sharp blade; rather, it resembled a wound inflicted by the back of a blade. Such a blunt blow was far more painful than a slash, and the archer fainted from the agony.

Both the two inside and the two outside the arena were astonished by the enemy's move. The three had meticulously prepared a tight trap, but they never expected that the enemy would break through so easily and even "steal a city"—by killing the archers who were providing support from the rear.

Philsa's expression was icy, and he remained silent. In truth, he was stunned. His shock wasn't due to overestimating the three's abilities, but rather to underestimating the assassin's unfathomable strength. Sherry seemed to read his thoughts from the silence in her earring, and asked, "Should we prepare for backup...?"

"Let's wait and see. Their 'ace' support hasn't shown up yet, so it's not our place to interfere." Although that's what he said, Shirley could already hear the great unease in Philsa's words, which was completely different from his calm demeanor just seconds before.

These two seasoned observers knew perfectly well that the enemy's strength was far greater than what they had seen before. What they were witnessing now was merely the tip of the iceberg of the assassins' power.

The three-man attack formation collapsed instantly when the archer suddenly fell, leaving only the two vanguard members.

This all happened in just a few seconds. But within those few seconds, one of their companions had already collapsed, seriously injured. This was a huge blow and a clear provocation to the other two.

However, the honor of being warriors kept them from backing down, and they remained convinced that they could stop the enemy's advance.

At that moment, the dark clouds in the sky dispersed, and the clearing where the battle had taken place was once again bathed in moonlight. And at that very moment, the assassin's appearance was clearly revealed to everyone.

"As expected, it's a boy about my age..."

That black robe fluttering in the wind carried a sharp killing intent capable of piercing the heart; the cold gleam emanating from his deep black eyes was no less than the sharpness of any sword blade.

Contrary to Philsa's expectations, the assassin chose an action contrary to his professional code—a direct confrontation. He raised the unidentified black weapon and sped off towards the swordsman and the female knight.

The female knight stepped back, and the swordsman strode forward, wielding his sharp blade to meet the attack.
