"Hmm. Please." Philsa whispered.
The beggar who had been following the two drew closer and closer, only then revealing his presence by reaching out to pat Philsa on the shoulder.
It was only then that Jelu noticed someone behind her. She wondered if this beggar was Yug, and if he had disguised himself.
Philsa turned and intercepted his hand. Judging from the aura, he was not a familiar person, nor did he possess the demonic energy of a martial artist.
Aside from the smell of a vagrant, there was nothing else strange about him. "Who are you?"
"Judging from your gait, you are blind. You have the aura of ice magic on you. You are... Felsa of the Extreme Ice. And this young lady next to you, dressed in black and carrying a sword, is not a Star Dawn person, but... Jelu Snow of the Shadow. That's right, that's right, it's the two of you."
Jelu thought he was an adventurer who had come to chase after Felsa, so she immediately protected her companion and made a gesture as if she was about to draw her sword.
Midnight Slayers were not the only ones who wanted to capture or eliminate Philsa.
"Starry Night Heroes" - Adventurers also regard him as a thorn in their side.
Philsa heard the man who had been following him chuckle and say in a low, hoarse voice, "Young man, you're really hot-blooded. Come with me. Yug is in the tavern."
Felsa slightly raised her head, unable to hide her surprise. It sounded like someone Yug knew. Jelu, on the other hand, took a step back, disengaging from her previous posture, but remained wary. She wondered what Felsa's intentions were, and whether she would believe a stranger.
"Then please lead the way. We were just about to go to the tavern too."
The vagrant led the two across the road, his pace varying in speed, humming a tune as he leisurely crossed the street, a stark contrast to the two impatient young men behind him.
Halfway there, the homeless man finally spoke up and asked, "How do you know Yug?"
Jelu didn't know how to explain it, so she waited for Philsa's reply.
"We met during a conflict," he replied with only this vague statement.
The vagrant chuckled again, a hint of mockery in his voice. Jelu disliked his attitude intensely. If she didn't need his help, she would have already pointed a knife at him.
The homeless man then asked, "Do you know anything about his past?"
"Don't ask about the past when making friends."
"Pooh……"
Philsa ignored him and fell silent, but the homeless man continued talking, regardless of whether there was an audience:
"He once tried to resurrect his lover, but instead created a monster. After severely injuring Yug, the monster went on a rampage in the town, killing many people before fleeing and disappearing without a trace."
The two people behind him didn't respond, both inwardly surprised.
"Although these kinds of things always happen on the mainland, trying to reverse God's will and resurrect the dead, this tragedy has resulted."
Was this said intentionally for Felsa to hear? Jelu wondered. Her companion remained silent, but she must have had her own thoughts. Yug had previously hinted at this, warning Felsa that he would fail.
“That bastard Yug should have been hanged long ago, but he managed to escape the night before.” The wanderer suddenly stopped and turned around, his face completely cold: “My wife died at the hands of the monster he created.”
Even though Philsa couldn't see his expression, she could fully feel the anger and sorrow surging from his body.
If he were a martial artist, then such anger and sorrow would transform into demonic energy.
He was heavy-hearted; everyone has an unforgettable past.
The common thread among him, the wanderer, and Yug is that their lovers are all separated from each other by death.
Jelu looked ahead and saw that the tavern entrance was not far away. At that moment, the barely concealed noise from inside the tavern reached her ears. In any case, she had to meet up with Yug first. Other trivial matters could wait.
The wanderer led the two into the tavern. Unexpectedly, everyone in the lobby stopped their fun as soon as they saw the three arrive.
The atmosphere changed abruptly, and even someone as perceptive as Philsa could sense it. Some people even hurried out of the tavern.
Is it because of the homeless?
Or... is it because of "Felsa the Ice Queen"?
"Where is Yug?" Philsa raised his voice.
There is no trace of Yug here, not even any trace of Yug ever lingering.
"He's not here. It seems he just left. He told you to wait patiently for him to come back."
For the first time, Firsa felt so uneasy. She suppressed her panic, but could not hide her excitement. "Yug has never been here before."
He and Jelu drew their weapons at the same time.
The vagrant's eyes flashed with a fierce light. "My mission is complete. I brought you here. The rest is up to you, sir..."
Philsa guessed who the "master" he was referring to was—because the demonic aura of the Midnight Slayer was rapidly approaching.
There was only one person, but he came with fierce momentum, like a venomous snake that had already set its sights on its target and was chasing after it at full speed.
Before the wanderer could finish speaking, Philsa heard a "whoosh" as a throwing knife pierced flesh.
"...It's been... taken care of..." The homeless man stared wide-eyed as he struggled to finish his last words before collapsing in front of the two men.
Jelu discovered a small knife stuck in his back; without a doubt, this sneak attack had killed him.
The venomous snake's demonic aura was already approaching the tavern's entrance, accompanied by the sound of horses' hooves. There was indeed only one person approaching.
"Watch out!" Philsa warned his companion, his sword poised to meet the enemy.
Jielu leaned against him, holding her knife in front of her, wary of her surroundings—unexpectedly, a sharp pain flashed through her mind, erupting instantly, so severe that she dared not even breathe properly.
