Though impossible, she wished this moment could last forever. That night, she didn't sleep with her sword in her arms, because besides her sword, she had other "companions" she could rely on.
Dawn was approaching. Gerald wanted to get up first and prepare so they could set off immediately once Philsa woke up.
Even the slightest movement from her woke him instantly. Jelu thought she had woken him, but in fact, he was always a light sleeper.
This time, he immediately grabbed Jelu's hand as well, "You wouldn't be thinking of... again..."
She couldn't help but chuckle softly, deliberately pulling away from him and reaching for the hairband lying nearby. "Eh..."
"how?"
It wasn't until today that Jelu noticed something strange was embedded in her hairband—a loose thread sticking out. She carefully pulled it out.
It is a transparent and soft filament.
Jelu handed it to her companion. Philsa touched it, thought carefully, and then realized what it was. She exclaimed in surprise, "It's Yog's crystal filament?"
"What happened?"
Philsa immediately instructed his companion, "Yog's crystal filaments have been enchanted and can move on their own. Quickly put them on the ground and try them out."
Jelu nodded and did as she was told. The grass here was very rough, and she was worried that it might cause problems.
As Firsa had predicted, the crystalline filaments seemed to be connected by a pen tip, "writing" a string of connected letters on the ground. Upon closer inspection, anyone could recognize it as "Lakeside Residence".
Despite racking her brains, Jielu remained completely bewildered.
She read aloud the words written on the crystalline threads to her companion, "What kind of place is this?"
Philsa guessed, "Yug told us to go to Amethyst Town earlier, so I think this so-called lakeside retreat must be in Amethyst Town."
This is very important information left by Yug and hidden on Jelu. Perhaps the Wind Vortex Stone was hidden by him in that place called Lakeside Residence.
"I don't understand. Why would he do this? Was he threatened? Was he threatened by the Midnight Slayer?"
After thinking for a while, and considering her previous experiences, Philsa concluded that the facts should be as follows:
That night, Yug was blackmailed by a man named "Thin Blade" from the Midnight Slayers. The man demanded that Yug bring the Wind Vortex Stone to the Midnight Slayers in exchange for a hostage named "Glass".
Yug had no intention of betraying his companions, or rather, he had already come up with a plan on the spot, the specifics of which no one could guess.
In short, he did not intend to hand over the Wind Vortex Stone, but hid it in a safe place, leaving a clue on Jielu's hairband. At that time, Jielu was attacked and did not know about it until today.
“You haven’t taken off your headband in a long time…” Philsa said to Gerlu, then suddenly remembered, “That means you haven’t had a proper rest in a long time. I’m so sorry, I didn’t even notice.”
Jielu turned her face away, her inner distress completely gone. "I'm fine."
Philsa noticed that her tone had become gentler, lacking its previous coldness. "There's something I still don't understand."
He continued, saying he wanted to find more clues: "Don't you know the hairband has been tampered with?"
He tried to keep his tone calm, afraid that his companion would misunderstand that he was blaming her.
"I really don't know..."
“They must have taken it off then, and how could Yug know to help a girl re-tie her hair ribbon…” Philsa remembered that Yug had said a long time ago that he rarely interacted with women, thinking they were troublesome and often got in the way.
He examined the crystal threads left by Yug more closely and made another astonishing discovery: "No, this isn't Yug's crystal thread. His wasn't this soft... As far as I know, no two crystallizers' threads are exactly the same..."
There was definitely another Crystallizer with Yug at the time… possibly a woman, who might have been the one who helped you re-tie your hair ribbon.”
Firsa was also skeptical of his own deduction, as there was no evidence to prove that he was right.
However, he was determined to return to Amethyst Town to find out the truth.
Aren't you afraid it's another trap?
"Even if it's a trap, I have to go in and see! I won't let any possible opportunity slip by."
Jielu nodded and hummed in agreement, then carefully put the thin thread into her hidden pocket.
There are still many things that the two of them haven't figured out yet.
However, all they could do at this point was to proceed based on the current clues, even if it ultimately led to a massive trap.
This is better than wandering around like a headless fly in a hopeless situation.
Jielu stood up, still feeling a slight pain in her lower abdomen. Thinking about last night, the scene flashed before her eyes, and she suddenly pulled back her companion's hand, her face flushed.
Fortunately, her companion couldn't detect her expression. She walked a few steps and found that there were no serious obstacles. Although her companion had magical perception, she shouldn't be aware of her discomfort.
She turned around, only to find that Philsa stood frozen in place.
This time, it was Jielu's turn to urge him: "Hurry up and go."
Philsa did not answer or respond.
Jelu noticed that he seemed to be quietly listening to the sound of the wind blowing in the distance, or perhaps he was using his magical perception "tentacles" to explore the movements in the distance.
A few seconds later, Gelu gradually heard the sound of a herd of horses galloping in the distance, and her companions finally confirmed it:
"Someone is catching up. The leader is the boss of the Midnight Slayers. They're definitely after me, and they're heading towards Amethyst Town."
The jungle they were in was so sparse that it was not suitable for hiding.
