Chapter 567

So, taking advantage of the fact that no one was in the inner room, he revealed some of his past experiences to Firsa: "A few years ago, when I was adventuring alone in the southern part of the continent, I formed a troupe and made many friends, and we got along very well."

Philsa nodded. "The southern part of the continent... is indeed a gathering place for all sorts of people. I've been there too."

"After the group's cooperation agreement was terminated, everyone went their separate ways and we haven't seen each other since."

The group that Jelu mentioned was the first group of true friends she made.

Philsa wondered why she hadn't mentioned anyone she'd known before that.

According to what Jelu said before, she lived and learned martial arts on an island in the East since she was a child.

She must have made friends during that time. But since she didn't mention it, there must be something she can't say.

"If they meet with us again, they will definitely help us!"

The girl that Felsa knew, Jelu, was someone who valued her friends and saw bonds as something to protect.

However, he had to tell her a fact: "Things were fine in the past... but now the continent has been divided into factions by Augustine. It's true that people from different factions are prone to conflict."

I am in the so-called "anti-hero" camp, opposed to the heroes and Augustine, and I am hunted down and despised.

If your friends are in the Heroes' Faction... then they are our enemies. Unless you also leave me and return to the Heroes' Faction.” After saying this, he fell silent.

Jielu stared at her companion in disbelief: "Why...why would you say that?"

While this is true, it is only one possibility.

She firmly believes that friendship will never be destroyed by any difference in camps.

"How could that be? You and Mr. St. Fess are on opposing sides, yet you still maintain a teacher-student relationship!"

Mr. St. Feth still hoped that I would forgive the murder of my companion and go to Augustine.

Philsa thought to herself, muttering with a bitter taste in her mouth, "I almost came to blows with the teacher back then."

Jielu was somewhat indignant to see that he could say such things so calmly.

"After all these years..."

If anyone else had said that, she would have felt disgusted. Dinner had just been served, and Jelu ate silently with her head down. Philsa called her several times, but she ignored him.

The two ate separately, and the atmosphere became awkward.

Finally, Philsa asked apologetically, "Are you full? It's time to pay the bill and leave."

She gave a cold "hmm".

The two stepped out of the inner room and found the atmosphere outside frozen, unusually quiet, as if they were silently waiting for something.

Many guests had left, and most of those who remained exuded an unpleasant aura—one could even judge it as murderous intent.

Firsa was alert and walked ahead;

Jielu followed behind, silently gripping the knife at her waist despite the guests' cold stares. The two crossed the path between the tables once more.

"Phirsa the Extreme Ice!" A burly man with stubble sitting in the corner suddenly shouted out the eye-catching name from the bounty poster, then slammed his fist on the table, raised his sledgehammer, and aimed it at the back of Philsa's head.

The attack was swift and stealthy, and the burly man thought he was about to succeed.

Jerubie Felsa reacted first, turning around and instantly drawing her sword, cutting down the enemy before he could attack.

The remaining people inside the restaurant all stood up, weapons already gripped in their hands, ready to surge forward. The two quickly left the cramped restaurant and went to the main street of town, covering their faces again as they did so.

Although this move had little effect on the two who had already caused a disturbance.

However, they still wanted to avoid any potential trouble.

"You seem to have become less alert since entering the town. You didn't even react to a sneak attack from behind!" Jelu wanted to mock her companion to vent her anger.

"With you behind me, what's there to be afraid of?"

"you……"

Philsa stopped joking. "This town is really strange. There are no lights on around here, right? I can't feel the warmth of the lights."

"It's nighttime, everyone should be in bed, of course!"

"Isn't it only just nightfall? Not only is there no warmth from the lights, but there's also very little sign of human life!"

Only then did Jielu realize the strangeness of her surroundings. Apart from the restaurant, there wasn't a single light anywhere. The oddities her companion had described were indeed true.

She was waiting for Firsa to decide whether to go out the same way or go through the town and continue north, and after a moment's thought, he finally chose the latter.

"Where have all the residents gone?" There are no lights on.

There were no residents. Only adventurers lingering in the restaurants.

Could it be...? "Be alert, someone is catching up."

Shadows flickered all around. Philsa was about to conjure an ice sword to fight. Just as he was chanting the incantation, he suddenly felt a suffocating sensation in his chest.

Some kind of magic was activated around him, seemingly forming a huge barrier? But what surprised him even more was that the ice sword did not appear in his hand after the incantation.

"What's wrong with you? Hurry up and get your weapons! It looks like enemies are about to appear!" Jelu urged, before she gradually sensed the presence of the strange barrier.

The scenery before her eyes was somewhat shaky, like seaweed floating in the water.

Both of them felt a suffocating sensation, as if they were in the sea, but it was more severe for Philsa.

He guessed that the demonic veins suddenly contracted due to the pressure of the barrier, causing him to have this feeling.

"Damn it, my ice magic seems to have been sealed, I've been tricked! This barrier is aimed at me, it seems we've walked into a trap." Philsa confirmed that his magic had been released but had no effect, and thus made this judgment.
