This place is home to all sorts of merchants and their shops. Valuable items include finely crafted, dazzling gemstones, while exquisite items include handmade grass-knot necklaces. The swordsmiths have a wide variety of weapons, and the restaurants offer a dazzling array of fine wines and dishes.
There were no royal knights in sight within the city; in such a chaotic place, they probably couldn't manage much.
It was still early, so the two of them could immerse themselves in the crowd and enjoy themselves to the fullest before dusk.
Philsa kept her head down and walked forward, weaving through the crowds, gradually widening the distance between herself and her companions behind her.
Jelu slowed her pace, deliberately keeping her distance to see his reaction. If his magical senses were still sharp, he would surely notice quickly. With that thought, she stealthily turned into a small alleyway.
Because she was separated from the hustle and bustle by a wall, Jielu suddenly felt a sense of peace. Sometimes she liked liveliness, and sometimes she liked quiet, but she herself was not quite sure when she preferred which atmosphere.
Perhaps it was her past experiences that left her feeling uneasy and lonely.
In the past, only a knife could give her a sense of security, but now she has him too.
She glanced around forlornly, but her gaze was drawn to a graffiti mural in the corner of the wall.
"How is that possible?"
She immediately approached.
That's definitely graffiti! Graffiti! Graffiti! It's definitely graffiti! It can't be that!
However, upon closer inspection, she trembled all over, feeling a suffocating sensation as if a deadly blade was held to her neck.
On a brick on the wall at waist height, there is a painted black lotus flower pattern. It originally had eight petals, but one petal was deliberately missing.
For Jellal Snow, witnessing the pattern was like witnessing the black blade stained with blood in the pitch-black night—a scene she would never forget.
That name suddenly came to mind.
Suddenly, I experienced a sharp pain in my head and ringing in both ears.
She gets like this whenever she thinks about things she doesn't want to remember, completely defenseless.
She didn't notice someone approaching from behind. In that moment of distraction, a hand reached out and patted her shoulder. She screamed and frantically turned to draw her sword.
However, by the time she realized the newcomer was Philsa, it was too late to retract her blade. Fortunately, he reacted quickly, sensing the blazing rage—and fear—before drawing his sword, and dodged backward. The blade only severed Philsa's blindfold.
This is the first time that Jielu has attacked her companion with a knife, and it is also the first time that she has been so flustered that she attacked the wrong companion.
She apologized repeatedly, saying, "I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry..."
"What exactly happened? Did we run into Wang Jun?" Philsa covered his eyes with his hands, feeling uneasy.
Jielu simply shook her head quietly, without answering.
She then noticed that her companion was acting strangely, so she said, "I'll go out and buy you an eye mask. Wait for me a moment."
Just as she was about to leave, her companion quickly grabbed her hand, "No need, it will arouse suspicion. Just use a black cloth for now, and change the dressing while you're at it."
Philsa sensed that the sunlight was no longer so intense, and with just over an hour left before dusk, it was already quite late; going to do other things would delay the meeting.
The two returned to the street, where the noise was still as loud as ever.
Ever since she saw that mysterious pattern, Jelu had had a persistent feeling that she was not safe around her, so she whispered to her companion, "Could you walk behind me?"
"Why? Okay." Why was she suddenly so afraid of being ambushed? Philsa didn't ask any further questions, silently slowing her pace and retreating behind her, while remaining vigilant.
She felt a little relieved, but she still couldn't let it go. "Firsa, promise me one thing."
"explain."
"Don't leave me and act alone in the future."
Wasn't it her own fault for deliberately walking away today? He didn't understand, but knowing she was in a bad mood, he didn't argue and still nodded in agreement.
Unbeknownst to him, Jelu turned around and smiled silently, a smile that looked more like a bitter laugh.
2. The Alchemists' Guild in Fallingwind City is decorated very lavishly; this can be concluded from its appearance alone.
Every stone used to build the wall looked as if it had been carefully polished.
The two were deeply impressed by their first visit—Felsa touched the outer wall with his own hands. He had never dared to enter such a place before, for fear of attracting trouble.
Upon opening the main door and stepping into the guild hall, Jielu found the atmosphere tranquil. The lighting was soft yet sufficiently bright, and a blanket covered the floor.
In the center of the lobby, there were tables and chairs for entertaining guests, with people sitting sparsely.
There is a staircase to the left of the entrance leading to the upper floor;
The table against the wall is filled with test tubes, glassware, and reagents of various colors; it is a laboratory table.
On the other side, there was a row of bookshelves. Many scholars dressed in black robes walked around, each busy with their own affairs.
As Philsa entered the lobby, he first heard the people sitting inside whispering about something, the details of which made him stop and listen.
Is it an omen of a falling star?
“That’s right. The strange phenomenon happened late last night. A bright green meteor fell near Falling Wind City. We went out to search overnight, but we couldn’t find any meteorite. However, we found a strong demonic aura near the meteorite crater.”
Ignoring the risk of being recognized, Philsa stepped forward to join the discussion. "Excuse me, gentlemen, is it a powerful gust of wind magic?" He didn't look up, letting the hood of his cloak perfectly conceal his upper face.
The speaker's eyes widened. "How did you know? Did you participate in the search operation last night? Impossible, you don't seem to be a member of this guild."
Judging from the voice, the speaker was an elderly man.
After sensing him with magical touch, it was discovered that the magical aura hidden on his body was much stronger than that of ordinary adventurers, which estimated that he was a veteran figure in this alchemist guild.
