Chapter 570

-

Late at night, in the early hours of the morning.

The two, returning triumphantly from the church, agreed to meet in front of the Adventurers' Guild's main gate. Before that, Philsa would first go to the Knights' Guild in Victor Town to report on the completion of the exorcism quest, while Sherry would go back to change her clothes and put on makeup.

Just a few days ago, the Silverwing Knights, to which Philsa belonged, received a banquet from the Adventurers' Guild.

The Knights sent Philsa and Sherry as their representatives to this grand late-night banquet.

But Philsa still hadn't appeared. Shirley stood alone in front of the main entrance, staring blankly at the crowds coming and going.

So it turns out we weren't the only ones late. Anyway, you'd better hurry up and get here!

My carefully applied makeup is almost melting away...

Sherry couldn't help but feel a little anxious, thinking to herself.

Until a familiar figure stepped into the darkness.

Shirley gave him a disgruntled look.

Felsa didn't notice her subtle expression, but was surprised to see her wearing a pure white dress that she hadn't seen in a long time, and exclaimed with delight, "What a nice dress... Let's go inside quickly, it's getting late."

"You have the nerve to say that? You're even slower than me!"

"..." Shirley noticed that from the beginning, he had been intentionally or unintentionally glancing at her face, only to look away again in an instant.

"Is my makeup messed up?"

“No, no…” Firsa sighed softly, “I’m so sorry, I’m already so tired today, and you still have to come with me to the banquet. But, ‘today’…”

It turned out that he noticed Shirley's exhaustion, which even makeup couldn't hide, and felt guilty because he felt she had worked so hard that day.

For this reason, Philsa decided to change his "plan". He smiled mysteriously, deliberately not continuing his previous statement, and reached his left hand into his fanny pack unnoticed.

"What?" She did look listless, and didn't even have the energy to ask the question, only managing to stay awake with a series of yawns.

"Sherry, happy birthday!" As she congratulated her, a delicate little gift box appeared in Philsa's outstretched left hand.

"Huh?" Upon hearing this and seeing this scene, Shirley swallowed back her yawn, and her smooth face was instantly flushed with a blush.

The usually careless Philsa was pleasantly surprised to realize that it was her birthday.

In fact, ever since I started adventuring with him as his companion, I haven't had time to worry about my own trivial matters.

"Th...thank you," she replied shyly, accepting the gift box.

"There happens to be a banquet tonight, and I was thinking of giving it to you at the banquet to create a more festive atmosphere. But I can't bear to see you looking so listless... Sigh, why don't you open it and wear it now? I think... it would... suit you very well!"

The bright red box was very light, and it probably didn't contain any valuable treasures.

What Shirley held in her hands was not simply a gift.

Upon opening it, a delicate earring inlaid with a diamond-shaped jade lay quietly in a white velvet cloth.

Under the moonlight, the emerald green seemed more dazzling than anything else, just like Shirley's clear, emerald-green eyes.

Sherry carefully put them on, and the cool sensation in her ears made her completely forget her previous fatigue.

Philsa was secretly delighted; tonight's "special mission," which was different from the usual killing enemies and exorcising demons, could finally be declared complete.

The two then quickly entered the guild hall, led by a hostess. They arrived at the central banquet hall, where, although it was late at night, the party was only halfway through.

Tonight's occasion is far more grand than Philsa had imagined.

Celebrities and dignitaries from all walks of life gathered here, singing, dancing, and drinking heartily, perhaps because late at night is the time when busy people have the most free time.

The fact that the Adventurers' Guild was able to invite so many celebrities to a gathering shows that its reputation is now far greater than before, and it is no ordinary guild.

The music had already reached its final notes before the two stepped into the hall.

"This seems to be the home ground of prestigious families. Won't we look a bit shabby?"

"Don't say it out loud... otherwise this feeling will only get stronger."

Only then did Philsa remember to take out the pair of pure white silk gloves that she had prepared long ago from her pocket and put them on.

“Speaking of which…” he muttered to himself, “Why didn’t Commander Fang Ente attend in person, or send a knight more befitting his noble status, instead of having the two of us come? In terms of status, I think Seris, who comes from a dragon knight family, would be more suitable to attend such a banquet.”

Hmm...maybe they're all very busy right now!

Seeing that Shirley was in a very good mood, he didn't waste any more words.

Actually, being able to attend such a gathering is a good thing.

After all, today was a very special day for Shirley. Usually, she was always busy with her own things, but tonight, all she wanted was to have fun.

This can be considered a small reward; as long as he has a good time tonight, he will be satisfied.

However, it is a little regrettable that one of the themes of tonight's banquet, the Kaleidoscope Ball, is nearing its end.

Philsa and Sherry, who had made special preparations for this, were not meant to be.

By this point in the evening, all that remained was free time for the attendees to chat and mingle.

A man walked towards Firsa from among the nobles.

After examining him closely, he asked, "You wear a silver-winged feather badge; could you perhaps be a knight belonging to the 'Silverwing Knights'?"
