Chapter 578

(Principality Chapter - Part 1)

The sixth day of the Frozen Moon in the 256th year of the Alchemy Era of the Duchy of Valentino...

Not long after the Demon Lord Fred Danlithel mysteriously withdrew from the battlefield of the Ice Sculpture Underworld, he returned with countless demon soldiers and monsters.

The invaders, chanting the battle cry "Silver Holy War," ignited endless war, which quickly swept across the continent of Valentino.

If the demonic attacks of the previous period were merely an occasional undercurrent, then today they have completely shattered that notion. They are active frequently, and wherever their demonic hooves go, devastation ensues if no one intervenes.

Faced with a sudden and overwhelming number of enemies, the Knights Guild did not have time to formulate a detailed strategy and could only defend as the means of attack for the time being.

In order to replenish its manpower in a short period of time, the Knights Guild considered seeking assistance from the Adventurers Guild.

However, they had some disagreements with the Adventurers' Guild in the past, and the two sides had almost no record of working together.

The Adventurers' Guild is the largest bounty hunter group on the continent. Only money can motivate them to work, or even to be treated like slaves.

The concepts and ideas of honor, responsibility, and protecting the people.

For them, it's just utopian nonsense.

It seems that this time, the Knights Guild will put aside past grievances and reach a contract with the Adventurers Guild regarding strategies to deal with the demonic attack.

Since its founding a century ago, the Duchy of Valentino has faced its first major magical catastrophe.

-

The hills behind the village are covered with low but lush green grass.

Although there were no birdsong or fragrant flowers, it was indeed a vibrant natural scene, which contrasted sharply with the two simple stone tombs standing in the center.

The dead in the tomb died heroically while protecting the signs of this life, protecting the weak, and protecting Valentino.

A young man dressed in black with white hair walked up the hill on the short grass. His originally pale face was made bloodless by the morning wind, and his expression was serious and tinged with sadness.

The sky was overcast with dark clouds. Since the beginning of this month, there has been no sign of the Demon Sea tides in the sky, but the weather has become extremely cold, just as the name of this month, "The Frozen Moon," describes, cold enough to freeze water into ice.

Before leaving for the north, Philsa Danlithaire visited his fallen friend once more.

He wanted to make a vow to avenge his friend.

But... what's the point of revenge... what's the point of making an oath... can making an oath strengthen one's faith and resolve?

I don't know. I've lost my way. He once swore an oath to avenge his mother, thus embarking on a path to slay demons, only to be thwarted halfway by his own father.

He didn't know how he had survived his father's sword, and it took him a while to realize that it was all thanks to his companion Sherry who came to his rescue.

I heard a faint sound of someone walking on the short grass behind me.

"Felsa".

Shirley walked a short distance behind her companion and greeted him. She had been searching for him in town ever since she packed her bags that morning. And so she found him here.

"Ready to go."

Philsa responded in a low voice and turned his head.

He noticed that Shirley had changed somewhat compared to before.

Her hairstyle remained the same, still long and flowing, though it was a bit shorter than Priscilla's in the dream;

The jade earring worn on the left ear is hidden in the hair.

However, her attire was different from yesterday's. Perhaps considering the cold northern climate and the unavoidable snowy weather along the way, Shirley changed out of her previous thin brown top and put on a full black women's open coat with a small lapel and a length that reached her hips.

Upon closer inspection, one can also discover hidden runes painted in the black, the purpose of which is to conceal demonic energy.

Underneath her coat was her usual plain white shirt;

A gray-brown leather belt was fastened diagonally around his waist, and his usual small waist bag was probably also hanging there, just hidden inside the coat.

I'd heard her mention that she carried a hidden weapon in her belt and a small amount of first-aid medicine in her waist pouch, just in case. She wore knee-length black leggings that accentuated her figure, paired with a trendy mini skirt.

He kept the same pair of lightweight boots as always.

This combination prioritizes ease and agility in all actions before seeking visual appeal; its colors are understated yet retain a certain elegance.

Philsa admired Shirley's new outfit, and for a few seconds he temporarily forgot the grief of losing his friend.

At this moment, Sherry was still carrying two pieces of luggage: one was Philsa's baggage, and the other was the long steel sword she had just received from the Knights' Guild.

"As for weapons, I originally thought of buying them from the Adventurers' Guild, but I heard that the quality of the weapons there is not very good, and there are also many people there."

To avoid the adventurers pursuing him, Philsa had to change out of his conspicuous Silverwing Knights uniform and into a regular black overcoat. It was wider and longer than Sherry's, providing good warmth and not hindering his movements.

"It's alright, as long as we have enough weapons to defend ourselves before we reach the academy."

Philsa took the baggage first, slung it over his right shoulder, and then took the long steel sword with his left hand, immediately feeling a sense of heaviness.

He swung his arms vigorously, but couldn't adapt in a short time.

After all, the weight of the destroyed "Franzan Sword" was less than half that of the ordinary longsword he was currently holding, so the feel of it was naturally much worse.

"Let's go."

Sherry urged him one last time.

-

About ten days ago, on the twenty-eighth day of the Dark Moon.

Lord Frederick Danlith, riding a hastily summoned dragon mount, hurried back to the Demon Realm, heading towards the tallest tower in the distance—the Temple of Silverdawn. The sky appeared unusually murky due to the crimson clouds.
