Chapter 578

"You must reforge your sword," the teacher said seriously, stating his reasoning.

"..." This time, the student fell silent. He wondered if the teacher's joke had gone too far. "Teacher, do you think... the elders of the academy would reforge the sword for me?"

Suddenly, a hissing noise came from the microphone on the other end.

The other party seemed to realize this as well, guessing that the call was nearing its end, and thus gave a brief reply:

“Fei, I know what you’ve been searching for lately. Come back to the academy; it will help you learn more about the emblems and Lord Alphonse. The ‘Northern Journey’—that’s the path Lord Alphonse himself walked!”

The teacher seemed to know something, and just as Philsa was about to press for details, the call was abruptly cut off, followed by the smell of thick, pungent smoke coming from the server room behind him.

Even after he left the call room, he was still pondering the teacher's words.

Shirley and Lampard waited quietly outside.

Upon seeing Philsa emerge, Lampard put on a serious face and reminded him, "Now that the magic telephone is working properly, the wanted notices issued by the Kanlan Adventurers' Guild will arrive at any time. I suppose you can't linger here any longer."

He nodded in agreement, indicating that he understood the current situation.

After saying "Goodbye," Lampard returned to the guild hall to meet up with Olina.

Seeing her companion exhale deeply, Shirley asked, "When are we leaving?"

Having decided on his future travel goals and direction, Felsa said to his companion, "Let's set off early tomorrow morning, just as dawn breaks. It seems... I have to go back to my academy. The person I spoke to just now was Professor Shengzefeis, the one I mentioned today who took me to the front lines. He said... he would reforge my sword."

Shirley nodded to indicate that she understood; having someone to help made her feel a little more at ease.

"I wonder if we'll run into Seris along the way? Their destination is also the Far North Magic and Martial Arts Academy."

Philsa turned to leave.

"You...you wouldn't be thinking—" Shirley teased inexplicably from behind, "I wonder if we'll run into my lively little sister along the way!"

Meanwhile, outside the guild hall, Lampard found Olina, who had been waiting for him. The two of them would be going on patrol together that night.

Before leaving the guild, Olina reminisced about the day's fun, "Look how cute they are. It's so nice to be young."

Lampard agreed, "We don't think we've tried this before."

"Yes, I won't even mention how stiff you were before!"

"Okay, okay, I'll be smarter next time!"

-

As night deepened, the moon was obscured by layers of dark clouds, revealing no glimmer of light.

An ominous fire lit up outside the east gate of Danyin City.

The knight patrol spotted a suspicious young man emanating an unknown magical aura approaching from outside the east gate.

They gripped their sword hilts tightly, wary and alert. Without a word or incantation, the man unleashed a fireball, burning the nearest knight to a charred corpse.

All the knights patrolling Obsidian were put into combat readiness.

The young man smiled disdainfully at them, tore off the cloth wrapped around his arm, revealing a fiery-colored tattoo.

The moment the knights saw it, their vision was already obscured by the intensely bright flames.

That was the last flame they saw bloom in their lives.

The night sky was instantly lit up with firelight, which then quickly dimmed.

The stone gate in the east of the city was mostly destroyed by a sudden burst of fire, leaving only a black stone pillar that looked like a withered tree, teetering on the verge of collapse.

He found a knight, severely wounded by flames and barely clinging to life, lying on his back convulsing in pain.

He then walked up to the man, pressed his toe against his throat, and asked threateningly, "Where is your guild?"

The wounded man was delirious, but he was still aware of the danger posed by the enemy before him. He simply stared intently at the young man, without uttering a single word.

The young man was very displeased with the injured man's stubbornness, and with a forceful stomp, he broke the man's fragile throat.

When he searched again to see if anyone was still alive, he found that there was no sign of life around him.

"I'll go find it myself."

The young man, his body wreathed in flames, saw that the obstacles blocking his path of revenge had been swept away by the flames. He turned his gaze to the depths of Danyin City, clenched his fists, and walked in.

-

The Knights Guild was brightly lit, and the receptionist was already dozing off.

Lampard and Olena had just returned from patrolling outside the west gate of the city and were exhausted. Fortunately, they did not find any suspicious figures.

They were tired of the shabby accommodations provided by the Knights Guild.

So I booked a room at the Thor Hotel for tonight.

After finishing their work and reporting to the relevant personnel, they took a short break and had a cup of milk tea, only to find that there weren't many people left on duty in the guild. Afterwards, they packed their things and prepared to leave the Knights Guild.

Just as Lampard was about to reach for the handle to open the door, it was suddenly pushed open with a loud bang, and the first thing that hit him was a pungent smell of burning.

Olena screamed as her companion, who was burning to death, collapsed onto Lampard.

"It's dangerous...Quick...Stop it..."

"Cheer up!"

Lampa witnessed his companion's horribly disfigured face, his parched lips trembling as he spoke. But before he could finish his last words, his head lolled to the side and he breathed his last.

Lampard silently laid the deceased down.

Orina tentatively asked, "Could it be..."

"Very likely."

The two were subtly referring to the extremely powerful flame youth they had encountered in the Emerald Snow Forest a few months prior.
