A fearful thought arose in my mind.
"Am I... incredibly 'lucky' to have been tossed by the waves onto a deserted island in the Sea of the Dead?"
This was absolutely terrible luck, worse than any trip I've ever taken.
Kerreyer had no interest in the treasures of the Sea of the Dead, but fate had chosen him, using the waves to throw him here.
Meanwhile, countless adventurers and sailors who were passionate about finding treasure spent their entire lives exploring the seas without ever making a discovery.
The plants growing on the isolated island were extremely strange. Regardless of their type, whether roots, stems, leaves, or flowers, they all exhibited a grayish-black color and emitted a strong demonic aura. This was the only living thing on the island.
Of course, this is assuming we don't include the various translucent undead that vaguely drift through every corner of the island...
However, it seemed that because Belgared, who possessed a divine aura, was protecting Keleser, these undead dared not approach.
"Have I...have I stumbled upon a ghost island in the Sea of the Dead?"
These aren't undead, they're probably just some semi-transparent monsters... Kereser concluded.
Although the "undead" dared not approach Kareser, the scenery before him still filled him with fear.
Aside from these demonized plants and the spirits of the dead, the island is filled with strange, jagged piles of stones.
Kaiser recalled the second sentence of the Holy Stone prophecy and compared it to the current situation.
"At the end of the Western Sea lies the Eternal Night; below the horizon, ruins hold a treasure trove. Stone giants, imbued with the power of the mark, stir the waves."
After careful consideration, Kerèse suddenly realized that this trip to the Sea of the Dead was actually a good opportunity to search for the emblem.
As for the treasure mentioned in the prophecy, it is probably the third missing piece of the emblem "Elevit".
The prophecy also mentions "the stone giant who has gained the power of the mark," referring to a stone giant monster on the island that has obtained the power of the emblem.
In other words, Kerèse only needs to defeat this monster to retrieve the emblem.
He has now obtained two incomplete parts of the emblem, which together make up exactly half of "Elevit".
The first part is inherent in the holy sword itself;
The second one is obtained by Kelese after slaying the host monster in the Tower of Reversal.
Kaiser regained his composure and moved cautiously, searching the vicinity for the stone giant monster mentioned in the prophecy, preparing for battle.
At the same time, he was on high alert, watching his step, because one or more dark pits would often appear inexplicably on the ground.
These unexpected traps will devour any monsters that accidentally fall into them.
Kereser had never seen any living monsters crawl out of the pit.
Ahead was a forest smaller than normal, with tree trunks and leaves that were pitch black.
So despite its small size, it was still impossible to see what was inside, but a strong demonic aura was emanating from it.
Keller thought to himself that there must be something strange in this small grove.
Perhaps it is that so-called stone giant monster?
No, that's not right. Stone giants shouldn't be that small, right?
He mustered his courage and took the first step.
They hadn't walked far when the road ahead suddenly opened up from complete darkness. It was a lake. What was eerie was that the lake water was also pitch black, so black that the bottom was almost invisible.
Kereser guessed that this should be the center of the island.
There is a small area in the center of the lake, about five meters away from visitors.
On the ground lay a strange, round, large stone, and... it throbbed rhythmically as if it were alive.
"Perhaps the treasure adventurers dream of is this giant rock that has nothing to do with any treasure at all. Hmm..."
The aura of demonic energy was dense. The strange stone before them actually emitted an aura exactly like that of a demon.
It turns out that it was the source of the demonic energy emanating from the forest.
If we attack this boulder, what might happen? Something good or something bad.
Kerreiser decided to take a gamble.
He gathered the holy breath of thunder with his magic, preparing to destroy the strange boulder before him with a divine lightning strike.
Summoned by the Thunder God General Kareser, lightning flashed across the night sky, accompanied by deafening roars. At the same time, the dark lake seemed to sense the flow of magic and began to stir.
The water in the lake is like viscous fluid, sticking together and rolling up to form a soft protective shield, protecting the heart of the lake.
All the lightning converged on the general, resonating with his demonic veins.
A dazzling bolt of lightning erupted from the blade of the holy sword, then transformed into a giant dragon of thunder, which bit into the slime shield in the lake.
The scattered lightning around them wove together into a demon-hunting net, surrounding the target.
The thunderbolts were actually the nemesis of all monsters.
However, it proved ineffective against this protective shield formed from pitch-black liquid.
Kaiser unleashed his magic power with all his might, channeling it into his magical martial arts, in an attempt to pierce through the monster's shield.
The liquid guarding the strange boulder was not water, but an unidentified insulating liquid. Kaireiser only realized this a moment before, upon discovering that the lightning strike hadn't been conducted into the lake through the liquid.
The lightning bolt didn't touch the heart of the land until it disappeared completely. Overwhelmed by the loss of magic, Kaireiser withdrew his magic and knelt down to rest, panting.
The holy breath of thunder temporarily subsided, the dark liquid in the lake returned to its original state, the lake surface became calm again, and the boulders in the heart of the lake continued to throb as always.
