Sure enough, Philsa recognized one of them as Mr. Lampard, whom she had met not long ago.
Before going up to greet him, Philsa had to report to the battalion commander.
That's right, the burly, sunglasses-wearing, on-site commander was none other than the captain of Philsa's squad—Fang Ente.
He glanced at Philsa's approaching figure through his dark glasses, then turned to speak to Philsa after completing his last command, immediately rebuking him:
"It's been half a month since the message was sent, but you still haven't shown up. I was planning to send you a second message."
"I'm so sorry!" Philsa straightened her posture, ready to accept the blame without complaint.
"So you were injured recently?" Fang Ente's gaze shifted to the left side of the person opposite him, where there was an inconspicuous water stain.
Only those in the know understand that the dampness on the uniform is usually blood from a wound, but the color of the uniform masks the original color of the blood.
Although the pain from the injury subsided after emergency medication, the medication did not guarantee that the bleeding would stop.
After a series of running activities, the wound reopened without any pain as a warning, causing a lot of bleeding.
The captain was understanding. After understanding why he couldn't return to the regiment on time, he didn't blame him too much. He just told him to be careful in the future.
Next, Fang Ente briefly explained the main purpose of the Silverwing Squad's trip to Lefrem.
Seris reported the recent situation to Silverwing via magical remote communication.
He first discovered a rare demon species—the human-faced demon—not far from this place, and by chance, he discovered that the human-faced demon was actually a human transformed into a demon.
Such demonic symptoms once spread in a small town called Lefrem, where the situation was quite serious, with townspeople either dying or becoming infected by the demonic influence.
Considering the consequences, Seris decided to destroy the entire town with the sacred, purifying fire emanating from his emblem, leaving no living creature behind.
In short, the situation that Celis was in at the time was absolutely appalling, and Celis was forced to make such a decision.
Philsa glanced out of the corner of his eye at the monster's corpse lying not far away.
The monster appears to be a primate that has been corrupted. It was sniped in the head before it died, killing it instantly with a single, powerful shot that left its head a bloody mess.
But what was truly horrifying was not just that… it possessed a tragically distorted human face. Philsa deduced that this was the so-called human-faced demon.
There isn't much information available about this type of demon, and the most recent information we've gathered is the report brought by Seris.
Seris's report caught the attention of Fang Ente.
Kanlan—the town they were in now—was the closest gathering place to the burned-down town.
Just as the report was being received, Fang Ente was also handling business nearby, so he led his team to observe the situation.
Sure enough, on the third day after arriving, which is today, the town was attacked by demons.
While the situation was still under control, Fang Ente immediately contacted the Obsidian Knights and, for the first time, cooperated with them to tightly surround Kanlan and provide treatment for the wounded.
This was done to prevent a recurrence of widespread infection with the demonic symptoms.
Otherwise, the final result will be like that burned-down town.
“Felsa, I have a task for you.”
The captain changed the subject, saying that although Philsa's injuries had not fully healed, he seemed to be able to move around at least, so he was probably alright.
Therefore, he didn't want his men to rest for too long. So, he assigned Philsa a running errand.
"As you probably know, once you step outside Kanlan, the surrounding area is nothing but a vast desert. This morning I received a report from air headquarters that the headquarters observation station discovered a place in this desert with extremely concentrated magic."
I suspect that's a base recently established by the Demon Lord Fred.
So, your task this time is to use your "magical perception" to find the location of this place, and we will be waiting for you in Kanlan.
Once found, please immediately send out a signal flare. After your signal is detected, we will join forces with the Obsidian Knights to rush to that location and wipe out the demon's lair.
“Understood,” Philsa nodded, responding briefly.
"You may encounter the Demon Lord Fred on this journey, so do not make any moves before we arrive..."
After the conversation, Fang Ente returned to his command duties. During the lunch break, Philsa spotted Obsidian Knight Lampard and waved to him from afar.
Although Lampard looked exhausted, he still managed a smile. After exchanging pleasantries, Lampard said, "You came here again using your 'Magic Sensing' ability, didn't you?"
Philsa smiled helplessly and nodded slightly in agreement.
In fact, since they met, Lampard has been very interested in this unique ability of magical perception.
So, taking advantage of this free time, I kept asking how this ability was developed. Or, to put it another way, whether it could be obtained from somewhere else, like a crest.
Magic perception is essentially a form of kinship perception.
Philsa did not, and did not intend to, tell him the true nature of magical perception; he merely gave a vague, perfunctory explanation that it was an innate ability.
Lampard was slightly disappointed; he also wished he had that ability. It would make carrying out missions much easier.
