Chapter 608

The knife pattern points to a narrow path carved into the cracks in the rocks, just wide enough for one person to walk through.

The Monkey King went inside, and after walking only a few dozen meters, he heard a series of chaotic creaking sounds coming from the iron chain bridge behind him, which sounded particularly urgent.

"Could it be that those people also came in?" The Great Sage Equaling Heaven pondered. He wanted to stop and see what was going on, but then he thought that this place was too strange. The people who came in earlier already seemed strange. Just as Blackie said, the human heart is the most terrifying thing in the world. Besides, could he guarantee that the people who came later were the same ones? What if it was...?

Thinking of this, the Great Sage Equaling Heaven dared not think any further and quickened his pace, trying his best to slow his steps. Before long, the view opened up before him, revealing another cliff face.

The Monkey King shone his flashlight and saw a rope on the ground, one end hammered into the ground by a steel rod, the other end dangling down. It was the same rope that Blackie had been carrying; Blackie must have gone down. Without thinking, the Monkey King grabbed the rope, stepped onto the cliff face, and slid down.

This time, the fall wasn't very high; he landed on the ground after only a dozen meters. Scanning his surroundings with his flashlight, the Monkey King found himself in a circular, artificial stone chamber. The chamber was newly formed, seemingly abandoned halfway through construction. It was originally intended as a tomb, but something had happened to leave it unattended.

The Monkey King then discovered three colorful patterns on the wall directly in front of the stone chamber. The top one depicted a scene somewhat similar to the one he had seen when he entered, except that the prisoners in this scene had been transformed into a young man with long hair reaching his shoulders. The man was shirtless and bound to a wooden stake, his body covered in blood.

It was as if a deeply sinful person was being judged, with the ancient Shu people surrounding him relentlessly hurling stones at him. The Great Sage Equaling Heaven recalled something Blackie had once told him: in ancient times, some minority tribes would use stone-stone punishment on heinous criminals, beating them to death by the tribe.

The last picture surprised the Monkey King. It didn't depict the man being killed as he had imagined. Instead, the originally clear sky suddenly became covered with dark clouds, with lightning and thunder. In the dark clouds, a pair of blood-red eyes appeared, and the man who was tied to the wooden stake was no longer visible. The people of the tribe fled in all directions.

Just as the Monkey King was engrossed in watching, he heard footsteps coming from the wall in front of him. He crouched down to investigate and heard a voice saying, "What do we do now? We must be lost. Damn it, this place is really weird."

The voice belonged to one of those people. Then another voice rang out, “This is definitely the site of the pre-Qin Shu people. Judging from the scale, a clan chief should be buried here. But this place is indeed a bit strange.”

The group remained silent for a while before one of them spoke up: "I wonder where Blackie and the Great Sage Equaling Heaven went. They ran away as soon as we came in. Damn it, it must have been premeditated. They deliberately abandoned us. Don't forget, Blackie is no benevolent figure. Everyone in the underworld knows he's cunning and treacherous."

"In my opinion, we should ignore them for now. Let them live or die depending on their own abilities. They want to take all the benefits for themselves, but we're not pushovers either, hehe! We'll search for them step by step, and once we find them, we'll find a way to eliminate them. No matter how capable Blackie is, he can't possibly deal with all of us at the same time. As for that Monkey King, he's just a gofer. Killing him is as easy as killing a dog."

This line of work is a mixed bag; some are truly skilled, while others are just trying to muddle through. It's not surprising that even the Monkey King is involved. The most important thing right now is to find Master Hei.

He thought to himself, "Since there's a passage behind this stone wall, Blackie must have gone in too, but Blackie clearly came in from here?"

The Monkey King searched around with his flashlight and finally saw a slightly protruding stone slab on the ground. He squatted down and tapped it with two fingers, which produced a series of hollow sounds. He was delighted and immediately understood what was going on.

He inserted two fingers into the crack in the stone slab, exerted all his strength, and lifted the slab, revealing a dark, round hole underneath. The Great Sage Equaling Heaven ran his hand over the area around the hole, his doubts resurfacing. "This tunnel has been there for a long time; it certainly wasn't dug by Blackie. Then who could it be? Could someone have already been here before us?"

Thinking about this, the Great Sage Equaling Heaven felt that things were becoming increasingly complicated. If that were the case, would the treasures in the tomb still be there? Besides, only Blackie knew about this place before. The few people who came in all blew up the sealing stones of the tomb passage. If someone had really come in before, then it was obvious that there was another entrance to this tomb.

Shining a flashlight down, he could vaguely see that the path below was sloping downwards. The Great Sage Equal to Heaven couldn't care less about that now. He tied up his tool bag, checked his entire body again, and after confirming that everything was in order, he braced himself with his feet on both sides and cautiously began to descend step by step.

The tunnel was just the right size for one person to pass through, and the four walls were also very neatly finished, with curves and extensions. "This person's skills are no worse than Blackie's," the Monkey King thought to himself. Having reached the curve, he simply sat down and slowly slid down.

The tunnel finally came to an end, and a bright and open space appeared before them. The Monkey King shone his flashlight and found that the hole was more than two meters above the ground. He jumped and landed on the ground.

Before them lay a narrow path paved with stone slabs, with a cliff face on one side and a stone pit the size of a basketball court on the other. Shining a flashlight down, the Monkey King was terrified; the pit was filled with skeletons, numbering at least a thousand, making the place exceptionally eerie.
