At first, I thought it was my own shadow, but when I turned around, I was so scared that I almost peed my pants. Behind me, there was a fierce ghost in red standing there, looking at me with a strange expression. His bright red clothes made it look like he had just walked out of a pool of blood.
Her pale cheeks were mostly covered by long hair, but her lips were eerily red, so red that they were startling to behold.
I quickly pointed the Soul-Suppressing Lamp at her, but then another question came to mind: ghosts don't have shadows, so who is this extra shadow here?
Thinking about this, I broke out in a cold sweat. I had heard Uncle Hei say before that ghosts are generally divided into two types: one is a physical manifestation, which is to appear in the form of a human, and the other is just a shadow. But they have one thing in common: neither of these types of ghosts is easy to deal with.
At this moment, I cursed Xiang Fei in my heart. Didn't he say that applying this black ointment would prevent the ghosts from noticing? Now, not only have the ghosts discovered us, but two of them have come looking for us.
After wiping the sweat from my face, I realized that because I had sweated so much, I had washed away all the black mud I had smeared on my face, and now I looked almost like a ghost.
That blood-red figure stood before me, its eyes holding a sinister smile, and my scalp tingled with fear.
The Soul-Suppressing Lamp flickered and dimmed, shimmering with a bluish-green light. I had only heard Blackie say that the Soul-Suppressing Lamp could suppress all evil spirits and malevolent ghosts in the world, but I didn't know how to use it. Now, holding it in my hand, I prayed in my heart that it would be able to suppress these two evil spirits and malevolent ghosts!
The scene was completely silent. The red-clad ghost in front of me stood there quietly, staring at me, while the shadow was also motionless.
"Hehehe," the red-clad ghost finally let out a shrill laugh, "You will all die, you will all die," a voice that seemed to come from hell, terrifying people to the extreme.
With a "heh heh," the red-clad ghost vanished with a gust of cold wind.
I swallowed hard and looked at the shadow again. It was still standing there. Just as I was about to leave, I felt a flash before my eyes and the shadow disappeared.
At that moment, I didn't care about anything else; I just wished my parents could give me two more legs so I could get away from here as soon as possible.
I ran down the stone wall and looked at the thousands of hanging coffins on both sides. Going back was impossible now, so I could only take it one step at a time. "Hopefully I can find Xiang Fei and Black Cat!" I sighed inwardly, otherwise I might end up following the same path as Blackie and the Great Sage Equaling Heaven.
After climbing the cliff, we went up the man-made stairs. The wooden planks creaked under our feet, but thankfully they were still very sturdy after all these years, no matter what kind of wood they were made of.
I turned on my headlamp and shone it ahead. The staircase extended into a crevice between the rocks, like a natural passageway that could allow two people to pass at the same time.
I shone my headlamp into the crack and saw several black, furry-looking things lodging there. I immediately became alert. In this ancient tomb, what else could there be besides the three of us who had come in?
I crouched low as I approached. Under the light of my headlamp, these furry creatures were about the size of a seven or eight-year-old child. Just as I was about to take a closer look...
These furry creatures moved, making a sharp sound, and their wings, about a meter long, swooped out.
That's when I realized that these furry things were actually bats, but huge ones, with ugly heads and gaping fangs in their mouths.
There were about ten of them. I was startled and immediately grabbed my hunting rifle and fired at the giant bats that were swooping down at me.
Two shots rang out, and I shot down two super bats. The others pounced on me, but I couldn't care less. I fired the remaining four bullets and then picked up my Tang sword and started slashing fiercely.
These bats are probably also afraid of light, just like the bats we usually see, and they can't be seen under the light.
But these bats were different. Under the light, their eyes were blood red, and they made sounds like wild beasts. I immediately remembered that these must be the corpse bats mentioned in ancient books. They are huge, live in ancient tombs, and like to eat corpses, especially human corpses. Of course, they are also interested in the bodies of living people, just like vampire bats.
Under the intense light of the miner's lamp, these corpse bats couldn't see me at all and could only find me by their instinctive sense of smell. I quickly took out the black ointment that Xiang Fei had left me and applied it to my body.
For a moment, these corpse bats couldn't sense my presence and couldn't see me, so they just wandered around aimlessly.
I breathed a slight sigh of relief and was just about to slowly walk over when suddenly the corpse bats all shrieked and charged towards me.
Startled, I quickly scrambled down. The corpse bats scrambled around, clearly unable to see me and trying to touch me randomly.
'Thud! Thud!' The corpse bats crashed into the stairs, and something terrifying happened: they actually grabbed onto the stairs and started colliding with them. Soon, the wooden planks couldn't withstand their attacks and began to break.
With a snap, the wooden plank beneath my feet broke, and I fell. In a moment of panic, I grabbed the iron chain on the edge, which prevented me from falling further.
With my body suspended in mid-air, I looked down and saw that my feet were almost touching the hanging coffin. The corpse bats were still thrashing around on it, and the wooden planks on the stairs had almost all fallen off.
After a while, they must have gotten tired of bumping around and flew back. I took a breath, grabbed the chain, and climbed up. Fortunately, there were still a few targets on the stairs that hadn't fallen, so I slowly climbed over.
Twenty-three thefts of the Dragon Vein (6)
This was incredibly dangerous. Although it wasn't a bottomless abyss below, there were countless hanging coffins. If I fell in, and those coffins were already decayed, I might crash into one of them, and if there were ancient corpses inside...
