"Sigh," we were speechless for a moment. If these really were the remains of ancient humans, then who were these people? Their bones were as white as jade.
"Could there really have been immortals in ancient times? Are these the bones left behind after the immortals died?" the old blind man asked.
"That doesn't make sense either. How could a deity possibly die?"
For a moment, we were all speechless. The mystery seemed to be getting more and more complicated, and maybe in the end we would really find the immortal.
Suddenly, a cold wind blew out from somewhere, sending a chill down everyone's spine.
With a 'thud,' a small stone hit the old blind man, startling him so much that he jumped up and shone his headlamp around. "Who's there?"
The atmosphere became eerie; the silence around us was terrifying, and we all intently observed our surroundings.
"Did you hear anything?" the black cat suddenly asked.
"sound?"
"Yes, a rustling sound."
Hearing him say that, we quickly scanned our surroundings with our headlamps. We had heard rustling sounds in the Shu tombs before, and they always turned out to be densely packed ancient corpses crawling out.
But nothing happened this time. "Are we being too tense?"
As soon as I finished speaking, the rustling sound started. Judging from the source of the sound, it should be from the terracotta figurines. I shone my headlamp on it and saw clumps of black things wriggling. Upon closer inspection, I found black worms about the size of a finger.
Xiang Fei and Black Cat's expressions immediately changed. "Hurry up, this thing is a corpse worm. If it crawls into your body, even a god can't survive."
We rushed over, and then Xiang Fei took out a powdery yellow substance from his bag, poured it out and scattered it on the ground. He then instructed us to quickly light it with pine resin and throw it around.
Immediately, the pungent smell of sulfur emanated from the remains, clearly indicating that what Xiang Fei had poured out was sulfur. The black corpse worms hurriedly retreated and crawled around us.
Under the light, the bodies of these corpse worms emitted a black sheen, just like the beetles we usually see. These things have a sharp, scissor-like mouth.
Corpse worms are rarely seen in modern society. Only some ethnic minorities in ancient times liked to raise them, specifically to place in tombs to prevent tomb robbers.
"What do we do now? This thing won't move."
Xiang Fei didn't answer. He poured out the sulfur again, mixed it with water, and said, "I'll smear it on myself so they won't dare come near."
So the four of us started rubbing something on our bodies again, but this time it was sulfur, which was better than the previous times and not as disgusting.
After smearing his body with yellowish grime, Xiang Fei went outside. Sure enough, the corpse worms immediately retreated. Seeing this, we were no longer afraid and followed him.
However, what we didn't expect was that although this thing didn't dare to attack, it kept following us. At first glance, it looked like a black object was following us.
After bypassing the burial chambers, we entered the tomb chamber, which was built like a palace, only much smaller. It had everything, including palaces and gardens, and could be described as magnificent and dazzling. Walking inside felt like a dream.
The sound of rushing water could be heard; there was also a waterfall in the palace, cascading down the stone wall.
We looked around and exclaimed, "Wow, the emperor of Shu was really extravagant! You can tell how luxurious his palace was back then just by looking at this. Look at this carriage, it's made of pure copper!" The old blind man walked up to a carriage and waved to us.
We gathered around and couldn't help but marvel. The carriage was built to perfect proportions, and the horses looked as if they were about to gallop away.
The stable boy sitting on it, in particular, looks just like a real person, with such lifelike movements and expressions.
“Hey, that Wang Jian kid really knows how to enjoy life. Even in death, he still wants to ride in a carriage,” the old blind man said, patting the bronze horse’s rump. “Giddy up!”
No sooner had the words been spoken than an unbelievable scene unfolded: the bronze horse actually started moving, propelling the carriage forward, and we could clearly see the stable boy pulling on the ropes with both hands.
"This... can't be real, right?" We looked at each other, wanting to catch up and see for ourselves, but then the carriage suddenly sped up, galloping away just like a real carriage, and we could still vaguely hear the sound of hooves.
Suddenly a loud bang startled us. At the very back of the palace, a stone door opened, releasing a sinister aura.
"Could this be the tomb of that brat Wang Jian? Was that carriage the mechanism to open the tomb chamber?" the old blind man asked.
We were speechless. He was an emperor, after all, and now this blind old man was calling him a child and even calling him by his name. If this happened in ancient times, he would have been executed by slow slicing long ago.
"Let's go, let's ransack Wang Jian's grave," the old blind man boasted again.
The entire tomb passage is paved with marble. As soon as you walk in, you feel a chilling aura. The further you go in, the stronger the chilling aura becomes, until finally it turns into a cold wind.
"That brat Wang Jian thought he had found a good place, but he's probably been buried in a place of malevolent spirits."
"Hehe, I think so too. Don't end up becoming a ghost instead of an immortal."
What the old blind man said was truly terrifying. Could it be that Wang Jian had really become a vengeful ghost?
But we've seen it all. Even if he becomes a vengeful ghost, we'll beat him to ashes. And if he becomes a corpse demon, the black cat will just deal with him directly.
After walking for about two minutes, the space in front of us opened up, and a cold wind blew. We knew we had arrived at the real royal tomb. When we shone our headlamps on it, the sight before us immediately took us by surprise.
