Suddenly, I lost my footing and fell. Before I could even get up, the "Old Blind Man" had already come up to me. I saw that he was holding the dagger in his hand and was already stabbing at me.
At this critical moment, the black cat suddenly jumped out from the side, kicked the 'old blind man' away, and then drew the Tang sword from its back with lightning speed. With a flash of light, it chopped off the man's head.
However, the 'Old Blind Man' was not dead; he was still chuckling sinisterly. The black cat pulled me up and ran towards the back, using the thick fog as cover to reach the outside of the palace.
I collapsed to the ground, my body so limp I couldn't move. It took me a while to come to my senses, and I quickly said, "Black Cat, if it weren't for you, I would have died this time."
The black cat's expression remained calm. "This place is eerie. We need to be careful."
I nodded. "What was that just now? How could it look exactly like the old blind man's?"
“I don’t know either,” the black cat shook its head, “but what I’m sure of is that it followed us in Wang Jian’s tomb. I noticed it when it came in with the old blind man, but what I don’t understand is how it turned into the old blind man and got in with us.”
I also felt something was off. I would never have believed it before, but now that I've experienced it firsthand, I have no choice but to believe it.
At this moment, several loud shouts came from the Hall of Immortals, clearly indicating that Uncle Liu from Hunan had encountered trouble.
"Let's go in and see what's going on. Maybe Xiang Fei and the old blind man have gone in too."
I nodded, stood up, and went inside with the black cat. When we got to the Hall of Ascension, we saw Uncle Liu from Hunan and the others rushing out in a very disheveled state, followed by a dense mass of ancient corpses. The blood corpse that had crawled out of the grave was also among them, roaring as it chased after us.
Of the five people, including Uncle Liu from Hunan, two had already suffered serious injuries. I saw that one of them had his arm bitten off, and his clothes were stained with blood.
With a roar, the ancient corpses around the Hall of Ascension to Immortality stirred, as if they were obeying the command of the Blood Corpse. Instantly, a murderous aura soared into the sky, and countless vengeful spirits and evil ghosts roared and surged over like a flood.
Seeing this scene, not only me, but even the black cat's expression changed.
"Ah~," a scream was heard as one of Uncle Liu's apprentices from Hunan was overtaken by the ancient corpse and instantly turned to dust.
Without saying a word, Black Cat and I turned and ran. We were already exhausted, but I was running like the wind. The scene was terrifying. It was the first time I had ever seen anything like it since entering the Shu Tomb. It was as if the gates of hell had opened and evil spirits and demons had rushed out. Our level of cultivation was no match for them.
At that moment, I wished I could grow wings and run to the palace. Just then, I saw Xiang Fei and the old blind man walk in. They were both confused as to why the black cat and I were running for our lives.
When they saw the scene behind them, they started running without saying a word. "Hey, you two didn't raid the Ghost King's lair, did you? Otherwise, why would you attract so many people?"
Eighty-three thorns
“We don’t have that ability; it’s Uncle Liu and his group from Hunan,” I replied, panting.
When we got to the square, we saw the group of ghostly soldiers carrying a coffin out. At that point, we didn't care about anything else and ran straight over and climbed up the city wall.
Looking back, an unbelievable scene unfolded: the ancient corpses and evil spirits that had been chasing us had stopped. Even the blood corpses had ceased their roars, seemingly terrified of these ghostly soldiers, or perhaps of the black coffin. To our astonishment, they simply retreated.
Uncle Liu from Hunan and the others also climbed up. I saw that their faces were all ashen, and another apprentice had already wet his pants. They had to carry him up. Judging from his confused eyes and foaming at the mouth, he was probably terrified.
The group collapsed to the ground. One of the two strangers, speaking with a trembling northern accent, said, "It was fucking terrifying. This is the first time we've ever seen anything like it. It was like hell. If we had known, we definitely wouldn't have come."
Uncle Liu from Hunan sat there panting, "You guys came in too, what a coincidence, now it's good that we can all work together."
"Are you out of your mind? You still want to go?" The two people looked terrified.
Uncle Liu from Hunan took out a pack of cigarettes, handed one to each person, took a few deep drags, and said, "Let me tell you the truth. There is a real immortal corpse in the Hall of Ascension. It is not an immortal corpse from ancient Shu, but a real immortal corpse from the lost mythical era of ancient times. It is related to the secret of becoming an immortal. Otherwise, why would that Ghost King value that place so much?"
We were all quite surprised to hear what Uncle Liu from Hunan said, but we just smoked our cigarettes and didn't say anything.
Amidst the swirling smoke, Uncle Liu from Hunan continued, “You might think that the legendary ‘immortals’ are just figments of the ancient people’s imagination, but you are wrong, terribly wrong. I have confirmed that there was indeed a mythical era in ancient times, a very long period of at least several thousand or even tens of thousands of years. It was just that later, for some unknown reason, it was lost to history. The real ‘immortals’ are those cultivators in myths and legends, and the Dao was born from that time.”
As he spoke, Uncle Liu from Hunan looked at me again, “Do you know why only Yin-Yang Masters can access those forbidden secrets? It’s because Yin-Yang Masters have already entered another world and can be considered the earliest cultivators. It’s just a pity that from the end of ancient times to the present, all generations of Yin-Yang Masters have been unable to escape the arrangements of fate and have all encountered accidents.”
When Uncle Liu from Hunan said this, we were all quite surprised. There was actually a 'celestial corpse' in the Hall of Ascension to Immortality. Could it be the corpse of a real immortal?
At the same time, I was also incredibly shocked. The Yin-Yang Master is actually the inheritor of the Dao. Becoming a Yin-Yang Master means stepping into another world. What is this world? Could it be the legendary world of cultivators?
