The old blind man and I searched everywhere. This room was like a palace, and the three of us began a thorough search, but we didn't find any trace of it.
However, at this moment, Xiang Fei pointed to the top of his head with a grim expression and said, "No need to look anymore, she's up here."
I looked up and sure enough, the woman in red was crawling on the roof beam, motionless, just like before, except that her fingernails had grown much longer and were gripping the beam downwards, looking at us.
For a moment, we didn't know what to say. This was too bizarre; the corpse was actually moving on its own.
The old blind man pointed upwards, "Should we bring her down?"
“Go and do it,” Xiang Fei replied in unison.
"Then forget it. Who can climb up there? Let her wait up there, she might come down soon," the old blind man said with a cunning look on his face.
It had quieted down outside. We observed for a while and, seeing nothing unusual, quietly slipped out. When we reached the city gate, we ran out in one breath.
By this time, the Shu people had already gone back to sleep, and the entire ghost city fell into a deathly silence again. The fog was thick, and as we walked inside, it felt very unreal.
Xiang Fei patted our shoulders, gesturing for us to follow him. When we arrived at the bronze human face statue, he said, "This place is strange. Let's observe it in the dark for a while."
We hid in a corner, quietly watching everything in the square. After a while, we heard a strange sound coming from the bronze human face statue. The bronze human face statue emitted a hazy light, making it even more mysterious.
Then several figures appeared out of thin air. The fog was too thick to see clearly, but the figures seemed to be searching for something, circling around the bronze human face statue.
"Hey, look, why is that statue moving?" the old blind man suddenly said.
As we looked, sure enough, the male priest in the sacrificial statue in front of us slowly turned around. To our astonishment, he merged into the previous shadows like a shadow. Finally, all the shadows disappeared, and the male priest statue returned to normal.
Eighty-one female corpses in red
Immediately afterwards, the group of ghost soldiers carried the coffin out and walked towards us. At this moment, Xiang Fei made a crazy decision, telling us to follow behind the ghost soldiers and see where they were going.
We looked at each other in bewilderment. Seeing that the ghost soldiers had already passed by and Xiang Fei had followed, the old blind man and I had no choice but to bite the bullet and go on.
We quickly caught up with the ghost soldiers. For safety, we tried to walk with big strides like the soldiers. However, we were already tired and hungry, and after walking for a while, we couldn't take it anymore. Meanwhile, the ghost soldiers in front of us continued to move forward. We didn't know how big this ghost city was. In the end, the three of us were practically crawling on our feet.
Fortunately, these ghostly soldiers seemed to be just an ideology; they only carried coffins and didn't notice us.
Just when we were about to give up, these ghostly soldiers came to a hill with a stone cave. The ghostly soldiers carried the coffin inside.
I sat on the ground, panting. "Should we still follow them?"
"I think we should just forget about it. Who knows which ancient tomb they've gone into this time? If we follow them and go in circles, we might end up exhausted and unable to find the exit," the old blind man immediately said.
Xiang Fei hesitated for a moment and shook his head, "The situation is unclear, I'd better not take the risk."
At this moment, roars came from the depths of the ghost city, which was near the royal palace. The evil aura soared into the sky, and blood light appeared faintly.
"Oh no, they must have run into that blood corpse at the Immortal Ascension Hall. This is a big problem. We might all get involved."
The roars coming from the depths of the ghost city startled the Shu people who had been sleeping. In an instant, they all came out and rushed frantically toward the palace.
What's worse, a large group of Shu people also emerged from the cave where the ghost soldiers had just gone in. It seemed that their houses had been destroyed and they were living inside.
This wouldn't have been a problem in itself, but the key issue was that we were too conspicuous standing there. Most obviously, the old blind man was eating bread, and immediately all the Shu people who came out stared at us, their eyes clearly treating us as prey.
Without any hesitation, the three of us took off running. Although we were exhausted, the instinct to survive in this life-or-death situation gave us the strength.
When the Shu people saw us running, they immediately erupted in chaos, making strange noises, and surrounded us from all directions.
“Let’s go to the city wall,” Xiang Fei said.
As soon as we climbed the city wall, the Shu people caught up with us. They were so densely packed, just like the zombies in the movies. We quickly took out the remaining pine resin, lit it, and threw it down.
The people of Shu are terrified of fire. When they saw fire being thrown down, they panicked and instantly fell into chaos. Some pine resin was thrown among them, and it immediately burst into flames. Some people of Shu were surrounded by the fire and screamed in agony. Although we felt sorry for them, we had no choice but to do this in order to save our lives.
At this moment, some Shu people rushed up from the other side of the city wall. They didn't care about anything else and threw the pine resin directly into the buildings on the city wall. The old blind man simply took down the mummies, lit them, and threw them out like human-shaped fire sticks.
Last time we entered the ghost city, we burned most of it down. It seemed that this time we would burn the rest down completely. But what we didn't expect was that although these Shu people were afraid of fire, they did not retreat. Instead, they surrounded us and stared at us intently.
Because I threw it too hard, the already limited amount of pine resin is almost gone, and everything that needed to be burned has already been burned. I can already see the Shu people slowly gathering around.
