I know what he meant by "yin people"—they are people who have been turned into ghosts, neither human nor ghost.
Legend has it that there are eighteen levels of hell in the underworld, but of course we didn't care to know that, so we went straight in.
We had expected the underworld to be teeming with ghosts, but when we went inside, we found it incredibly quiet, devoid of any spirits, and the buildings were completely empty.
It was like a city that had been suddenly abandoned; everything except the buildings had been taken away, and the Cantonese people who had come in earlier were gone.
Strange and mysterious, we explored cautiously, hoping to discover something.
Suddenly, the sound of a wooden gong being struck echoed through the deathly silent street, just like the sound of night watchmen on television.
We immediately went on high alert, keeping a close eye on what was ahead.
"Clang, clang..." The sound grew closer, and a figure appeared ahead. When it got closer, we turned on our headlamps and shone them on the figure. We saw a hunched, thin old man walking towards us, carrying a night watchman's horn. He called out as he walked, "The weather is dry, be careful with fire."
"No way, there are night watchmen here?" the old blind man asked, rubbing his eyes.
We also don't believe that there would be a night watchman in such a place; it must be something else, if not a ghost.
The old man slowly walked towards us, as if he hadn't noticed us, and kept his head down, tapping the night watchman's drum.
"Hmph, pretentious," Uncle Liu from Hunan walked up. "This is the underworld, why would there be night watchmen here? Who exactly are you?"
"I'm just a night watchman, I have no identity or background," the old man raised his head, his eyes unfathomably deep. "Can't there be night watchmen in the underworld? Ghosts need to sleep too."
After saying that, he continued to knock, and in the deathly silence of the underworld, the sound was so chilling that it sent shivers down one's spine.
"What ghosts are there here?"
"Of course they're there! They're everywhere! Here, there, behind you! Hehe! You just can't see them," the old man suddenly chuckled sinisterly.
A bad feeling rose in my heart. "The night watchman... no, this is not the night watchman, this is the King of Hell's decree, the death warrant used by the underworld to capture people's souls."
Upon hearing what I said, they reacted as well. Uncle Liu from Hunan immediately used Yin-Yang techniques to strike, but the old man chuckled and transformed into the true form of the fake Meng Po he had encountered earlier, before quickly disappearing into the darkness.
Xiang Fei's expression was serious. "If the King of Hell wants you to die at midnight, you won't live to see dawn. That's probably where the saying comes from. Luckily, we didn't ask him what time it was, or we would have been in big trouble."
Just as we were about to continue walking in, three figures emerged from a nearby street, accompanied by the clanging of chains.
We initially thought it would be those few people from Guangdong, but when we saw it clearly, we were all shocked and stared wide-eyed at the scene.
Three shadows appeared. The two on the left and right were dressed in black and white, just like the Black and White Impermanence seen on TV. The one in the middle was one of the Cantonese people. At this moment, he was being led forward by the Black and White Impermanence like a prisoner, with his feet chained and his head shackled.
Upon seeing us, a glimmer of hope immediately ignited in the man's despairing expression. He shouted at us, "Please save me! Please save me! I don't want to die!"
For a moment, none of us reacted. As we watched the Black and White Impermanence escort that person deeper into the underworld, Xiang Fei was the first to react, shouting, "Quickly, chase after them!"
Without thinking twice, we gave chase. At that moment, the other group from Guangdong also rushed out from the side. When they saw the Black and White Impermanence in front of them, they went crazy. "We can't let them take them away. They're not the Black and White Impermanence!" they shouted, and then they picked up their guns and opened fire.
But the distance was too far, and the Black and White Impermanence had already entered the black mist. Both sides chased after them and saw a stone mountain in front of them with a cave below. The Black and White Impermanence were escorting that person inside.
You can also see rows of ghosts being escorted by ghost soldiers, walking down into the ground.
We slowed our pace, our breathing quickening. "Could this really be the underworld?"
"It seems so."
The men from Guangdong panicked, thinking, "If we don't catch him soon, he'll be dead."
As he spoke, he ran straight towards a main road ahead, and seeing this, we followed him.
The cave grew larger and larger until it was no longer visible. Suddenly, there were specks of light ahead, like lamps that had been turned on.
Slowing down and carefully feeling our way up, we came to a stone chamber. When we saw everything inside, we all gasped in shock.
"This... seems to really be the Palace of the King of Hell."
Above the main hall sat Yama, but this was not a statue; it was a real Yama, with judges standing beside him. We followed them directly into the mountain, and it felt as if we had truly entered the underworld. Ghosts were wandering everywhere.
Below stood a group of ghost generals and officials. At this moment, Yama was conducting a trial, and the person being judged was that Cantonese man. His face was stern, and the judge beside him was flipping through the Book of Life and Death.
That Cantonese man is so scared he's wet himself and can't even speak.
We were going to observe for a while longer, but those guys couldn't wait. They picked up their guns and started firing. Suddenly, the scene was like a gunfight, with three AK47s spraying bullets, heading straight for the King of Hell.
We saw that Yama was furious and was saying something. Although we couldn't hear it, we could imagine that he was ordering his ghost generals to take down these people.
