I don't know how far we ran, but in the end Xiang Fei and I sat on the ground panting. "Your secret technique is pretty good, but it's too scary. It even made my hair stand on end."
"Ahem, this is my first time using it too, and I didn't expect it to actually work."
I looked up and around. "Where are we now?"
"I don't know either. Let's walk around and see. Maybe we'll run into someone soon."
There was no other way but to do it this way. After resting for a while, I set off and randomly chose a direction to walk down.
Sure enough, after walking for a while, we saw a group of tourists coming out of the mountain path. We were in a terrible state, not only dirty but also tattered, and our faces were covered in soot. We looked almost like beggars.
The group of tourists was clearly from another province, numbering about twenty or thirty. They were chatting and laughing, and when they saw us, one of them said, "How come we can see beggars in this desolate wilderness?"
"I think they're down on their luck, aren't they?"
"Yes, they're quite pitiful. Why don't we give them something to eat?"
So someone gave us some water and biscuits. Xiang Fei and I were a bit dumbfounded. Before we could even explain, these people gave us the things and then told us to follow them so we could get out of this place.
We had no choice but to become beggars again. Since we were hungry anyway, we started eating. These people were from the city, and the food they brought wasn't cheap, but it tasted pretty good, hehe!
Following the group of tourists out of the mountains, we also took the opportunity to sightsee. And I must say, the scenery was really nice. We treated it as a tourist trip!
As they were walking, they heard the sound of gongs and drums ahead, which sounded like someone was getting married. A moment later, they saw a wedding procession coming over, with a bridal sedan chair being carried in front, but strangely, there were people carrying a coffin behind it.
“This is a ghost marriage,” Xiang Fei said.
The tourists present stared curiously and discussed among themselves. The wedding procession was dressed strangely; although they were dressed in festive wedding attire, they were wrapped in mourning cloths.
Ghost marriages were very popular among some ethnic minorities in ancient times, but they have basically disappeared in modern times. It is surprising that they still appear among the Qiang people. Although we are a little surprised, it is none of our business.
As the procession passed by us, suddenly the bridal sedan chair began to shake violently. The curtain was lifted, and a girl in red peeked out. Her mouth was gagged, and she made 'woo-woo' sounds towards us.
The people accompanying the bride quickly pulled her inside, and glared at us fiercely.
“Something’s not right,” I said.
Xiang Fei, standing beside him, nodded in agreement. "This isn't as simple as arranging a ghost marriage. It's a Qiang ethnic group's evil magic. We can't let them leave."
Xiang Fei shouted, and I realized what was happening. I quickly ran up and stopped the group.
"What do you want?" the middle-aged man in the lead shouted.
"You actually did such a heinous thing as arranging ghost marriages. It seems that the evil magic of the Qiang people has not been completely eradicated."
The situation suddenly changed, and the group immediately turned their fierce gazes at us, saying, "I advise you to mind your own business, lest you get burned."
"Hmph, now that we've run into you, there's no reason for us to ignore you. Where exactly are you from?"
Seeing that things were not going well, the group immediately surrounded us, it seemed they were going to attack us all at once!
Unfortunately, they encountered an Onmyoji. Xiang Fei made a finger gesture and recited an incantation, and these people went crazy, jumping and laughing on the spot.
Xiang Fei and I walked up to the bridal sedan chair and released the girl inside. At that moment, a man dressed as a wizard came out and asked, "Are you two really going to oppose us?"
"Such heinous and evil witchcraft has come into our hands as Onmyoji. Do you think we can just ignore it?"
Upon hearing that we were Onmyoji, their expression immediately changed. "Taoism is declining, so there really are Onmyoji?"
After he finished speaking, he began chanting a spell. His voice was a bit strange, and neither Xiang Fei nor I could understand it. However, we weren't in a hurry and just stood there to see what tricks he was going to play.
A bright red bloodstain appeared on the forehead of the Qiang shaman, as if it were about to drip blood, and his gaze grew increasingly cold.
Xiang Fei said with some surprise, "If it's the blood curse of western Sichuan, then we can't let you off the hook even more. There's actually such an evil technique."
The Qiang shaman's body emitted a red light, and crimson blood flowed from his body, spreading in all directions.
As he chanted his incantation, writhing ghosts appeared in the crimson blood, emitting shrill screams, instantly turning the place into a land of evil spirits.
“You go and get those tourists away, I’ll deal with him,” Xiang Fei said.
I nodded. "Then I'll leave this place to you."
Xiang Fei didn't answer, but judging from his confident expression, I figured there shouldn't be any major problems.
The tourists were terrified, screaming, some even crying. They had never seen anything like it before.
The blood rushed over, trying to drown them.
I walked over, used the Yin-Yang Daoist technique to cast three Daoist talismans in succession to avoid the blood, and then began to set up the Big Dipper Exorcising Formation, throwing out copper coins from my hand.
"Lin, Bing, Dou, all... all methods break evil, Yin and Yang govern the way," I stood in the formation, pointed to Yin and Yang, and then shouted, "The power of the Big Dipper, lend me a use." This was the first time I had used this method. It was one of the most powerful techniques passed down in my Liu family. Right now, to avoid any accidents, I had no choice but to make a big fuss about it.
When I struck the blood with the power of the Big Dipper, the blood in front of me quickly dissipated, receding like a tide. The vengeful spirits inside could not escape being reduced to ashes.
