Chapter 637

"Oh, since Mr. Liu is aware of this as well, what are your thoughts on this? For example, does the Shu Immortal really exist?"

"Hehe, what opinion can I have? Immortals are ethereal things that only appear in myths and legends. Without actual evidence, we can only guess and speculate."

"Hehe, that's true. As archaeologists, we can only speak based on evidence. Otherwise, we wouldn't dare to draw conclusions rashly. However, the land of Bashu has been filled with many bizarre legends since ancient times. It is the birthplace of immortals. Ancient Shu had immortals, and that is Mount Emei. I wonder if Mr. Liu has ever been to Mount Emei?"

"Mount Emei? I've been there. I went not long ago. The scenery is beautiful, it's a great place for tourism," I replied with a smile.

“Haha, Mr. Liu is right, I think so too. If we have the chance, let’s go to Mount Emei together,” the bespectacled expert said, then changed the subject, “There are many Shu tombs here, and quite a few people have died recently. I’ve heard that Shu tombs are very dangerous. Are there really ghosts inside?”

145 Arrive at Mount Emei

"Of course, the world is full of wonders, and there are many things that science cannot explain. For example, ghosts. If you say they don't exist, it's because you haven't seen them with your own eyes. So I want to remind you two that if you want to get involved in this, you must be prepared to see ghosts. You will find that many things are beyond your previous knowledge and imagination. Maybe you will have a completely new understanding of this world."

"Hehe, if that's the case, I really hope it comes soon. I can't wait! I just don't know if this 'ghost' is a real ghost or a fake one?"

"Whether it's a real ghost or a fake one, you'll find out when the time comes," I replied calmly.

We talked for a while, mostly about trivial things. They were clearly wary of me and didn't want me to know too much.

By then, the town mayor had already arranged a dinner, so our group went to a restaurant. This is a hilly town, so there are no fancy restaurants, only some specialty shops, but the food was pretty good.

The dinner went very well. Everyone talked about some trivial things. After the meal, a place was arranged for the two experts to rest, and the town mayor personally drove me there.

"Master Liu, you really have to help me out this time. Don't mess it up, or my position as town mayor will be in danger. And if a large-scale ancient Shu site or an ancient civilization site is discovered here, we can take this opportunity to develop tourism, just like Sanxingdui. Maybe then we can revitalize our hilly town. You, Master Liu, will have made a contribution to your hometown."

I nodded with a smile. Those who don't know the inside story wouldn't know how dangerous the process was. Now that things are getting bigger and bigger, and more and more people are getting involved, I really don't know how many more people will die.

When I got home, Wang Ling was still there. She said she wouldn't go back tonight and would come with me to Mount Emei tomorrow morning. My mother was also very happy. Knowing that I was going to take Wang Ling to Mount Emei, she told me to get engaged to Wang Ling as soon as I got back.

That evening, I called Xiang Fei and Uncle Liu from Hunan to tell them to get ready to leave early the next morning. To make it look more legitimate, I asked Wang Ling to invite her mother as well, and naturally, I invited my mother as well. There were a few other people too; it was a large group of people going on a trip, like a tour group.

I've already decided that once we get to Mount Emei, if there's no need for further action, we'll just observe. We should try to have Xiang Fei and the others handle things, since I'm too conspicuous right now, and someone might be secretly watching me.

I asked Wang Ling to watch TV with my mom. I don't like watching TV; I think the plots are all boring and uninteresting. So I went upstairs and played on the computer.

We live in the information age. Even in small mountain villages like ours, many people have computers and mobile phones everywhere. Few young people don't enjoy playing on computers, and I'm no exception.

I hadn't played games in a long time, so I logged in and started playing. I usually like shooting games, and I'm pretty good at them, sometimes even getting a 1. After playing for a while, my phone rang. I picked it up and saw it was an unfamiliar number.

"Who could it be?" I wondered. I answered the phone and put it to my ear, but there was no sound from the other end. Instead, there was a static noise, which sounded very noisy.

"Hey, who are you? Speak up."

Still no one spoke, and the noise was almost unbearable for my ears. Just as I was about to hang up, a sinister voice suddenly came out, startling me. My expression immediately changed, "Who are you? Don't play tricks on me."

"Hehe, you'll find out who I am. You can't escape my grasp," the voice said, chilling like the voice from hell.

"Are you that demon?" I thought in horror.

After a "hehe," the call ended.

I put down my phone, calmed myself down, and pondered, "Could it be that lurking demon? Or is someone doing this on purpose?"

"Oh well, what's meant to happen will happen, there's no escaping it, so let's just wait and see," I thought to myself as I started playing the game again. A little while later, Wang Ling came up and said that my mom had already gone to sleep, so she came up to keep me company.

She poured me a glass of water. "You like playing games too?" Wang Ling said, sitting down next to me.

"Playing around occasionally is just for entertainment," I said, taking a sip of water, my mind now calm. "It's getting late, you should go to sleep too, and get up early tomorrow."

"I don't want to sleep, I just want to stay with you for a while. Will you chat with me?"
