"Should we continue on this route, or change course?" I asked.
"It's alright. Just as Xiang Fei said before, someone wants to reap the benefits without lifting a finger. They just want us to find the place to become an immortal smoothly. Since that's the case, let's play along and keep up this show."
“Yes, that is indeed a good idea, but we need to proceed with caution,” Xiang Fei said.
The valley wasn't very long; we walked out in about ten minutes. Ahead, the mist swirled, and the overlapping mountains made it even more mysterious and unpredictable.
The sunlight filtering through the trees created a beautiful scene.
Sure enough, a river appeared ahead. The water was very clear, and in some places we could see the bottom. We followed the river downstream, and after a while, we saw that the terrain suddenly changed. The river seemed to have been cut off, and the water flowed down rapidly, forming a waterfall.
The waterfall roared deafeningly. Standing on the waterfall and looking at the scene before us, we immediately understood what was going on. The terrain here had changed dramatically, with a majestic and imposing presence. We realized that we were truly approaching our goal.
Following the map's directions, we began to observe the feng shui from all sides. Soon, we discovered a peculiar place: the mountain's dragon vein appeared ahead, winding and turning as if it were about to take off.
"Gathering energy from all directions, this is truly a grand undertaking," Xiang Fei exclaimed.
"Yes, the techniques of the senior master are far beyond our reach. It is not surprising that this place contains the potential to become an immortal. The dragon vein is soaring here, perhaps we can really find the place to become an immortal."
"So, is there a result yet?" Luo Wanjun asked impatiently from the side.
I nodded. "Soon."
Then we managed to get down the waterfall and directly to the dragon vein. Based on our instincts as Onmyoji, we felt that this place must be very significant. Presumably, those people had been here before, but none of them found the place to become an immortal. Our chances were much better. Of course, it's not that we were better than those people before, but that we had a complete map and the clues to the entrance to the place to become an immortal were on the map.
"This is it. The head of the dragon vein is right here, surrounded by mountains that form a protective barrier, guarding this place of immortality," Xiang Fei said.
I nodded in agreement. Xiang Fei was right. The hilltop we were standing on was like a pearl, surrounded by other mountains, just waiting for the day when we would ascend to immortality.
We laid out the prepared materials, which were copies of the map, and began to deduce the results according to the guidance of ancient Taoist methods.
In the end, we became increasingly alarmed. This was truly defying the will of Heaven, involving taboo issues, and had a great connection to the ancient mythological era.
Simply put, the Land of Immortality is a place that was left over from the mythological era. We don't know the reason for its existence, but this map was left behind, presumably so that future generations could explore it.
Finally, we locked onto a target: the dragon's mouth, just below the hill where we were standing. It was a slope where we could see a crack.
Then, based on the results calculated by Yin and Yang and the Eight Trigrams, we walked to the center of the slope.
After taking a few more steps according to the Qimen Dunjia technique, they were surprised to find that a cave suddenly appeared at the crack. The cave was brightly lit, as if the light was shining from the other side.
"Found it!" We all gasped for breath. The entrance to the Immortal Realm—what would it be like inside? Now that the entrance had been found, the real exploration was about to begin. We explained some important points to Luo Wanjun: once inside, we must not act on our own and must follow orders. Otherwise, we would not be responsible for any accidents.
We checked the necessary equipment again to make sure everything was in order, and then we led the way inside.
As soon as we went in, Ghost Thousand Hands and his men arrived, but they didn't come in immediately. Instead, they waited outside, clearly wanting to observe the situation and let us go in first to scout things out.
As we entered the cave, we felt an ancient and weathered atmosphere, and there was a faint floral fragrance in the air.
Soft light shone in from the other end of the cave, making us feel as if we were entering a mythical world.
Now we understand that this place of immortality is hidden in the mortal world, just like the legendary Shangri-La, a hidden place.
As we got closer to the light source, we all tensed up, and Luo Wanjun and the others were even more so, their bodies trembling.
As we drew closer, we heard the sound of flowing water, and a waterfall appeared before us. This waterfall seemed to flow down from the sky, just like the Milky Way falling from the heavens.
Looking up, we were all dumbfounded. The sky was a vast expanse of white, and above it, a mountain was clearly suspended in mid-air, just like in mythological television dramas. The suspended mountain was like a floating island.
The waterfall flows down from the floating mountains. It took us a moment to come to our senses and look around. It was like an ancient, primordial world, with desolate land, barren hills, and scattered forests, all of which were made up of huge trees.
The cascading waterfall forms a stream on the ground, meandering and winding its way across the landscape.
We all swallowed hard. This was the land of immortals, just like the world of ancient myths. We wouldn't have believed it if we hadn't seen it with our own eyes.
Luo Wanjun and the others stared wide-eyed, their minds blank.
"So there really are immortals in this world!" Luo Wanjun said. "Masters, let's get started and find the way to become immortals."
The floating mountains must be what were called "immortal mountains" in the mythological era, the place where immortals and gods lived. Ancient books record that Mount Emei in the mythological era had such "immortal mountains".
