Chapter 639

But at the same time, it also made me feel a sense of desolation and loneliness. Being in such a place, looking at everything in the world, but unable to possess it, suddenly I had a feeling that no matter how powerful you are, what good is it? Heaven is fair. When you have power, you also lose a lot. It is lonely at the top. Becoming an immortal also means that you have to give up a lot. Just like what the Buddha said, you must give up all seven emotions and six desires, and be free from desires and seeks to guide yourself with the law.

"Did Bai Mei ultimately become an immortal?" I wondered to myself. The demon had just said that his 'Dharma Body' might exist here.

Could the so-called 'Dharmakaya' be the imprint or phantom image of an ancient great supernatural being, somewhat similar to the lingering attachments of the dead? I'm actually quite looking forward to seeing White Eyebrows' 'Dharmakaya'.

In the center of the platform, there is still a meditation cushion, which was used by Bai Mei for meditation back then. It is still well preserved to this day. If it were taken out, countless people would fight tooth and nail to snatch it.

The demon was still looking around when suddenly he walked up to where the White-Browed Taoist was meditating, pointed at it, and a strange thing happened: the entire wall burst out with brilliant golden light.

The 152 Secrets to Immortality

The light was blinding, so I quickly shielded my eyes with my hand. After the light softened, I discovered rows of ancient characters on the stone wall. The ethereal characters were very mysterious, appearing and disappearing in the light.

“This should be the Daoist mark left by Bai Mei when he attained enlightenment,” the demon said excitedly, wanting to go and see for himself.

But at that moment, a blurry figure appeared beneath the light screen, within the prayer mat.

This figure seems to span eternity, looking down upon all living beings, eternal and indestructible, compelling people to bow down in reverence.

Wearing an ancient Taoist robe, he was an old man with white hair. Most strikingly, his eyebrows were also white. Without a doubt, this was the White-Eyebrowed Taoist, a figure from mythology who was once revered as a deity by the ancient Shu people. But now his 'Dharma Body' appeared before us.

His imposing gaze was fixed on us, as if he could see right through me.

I felt like I was suffocating, and all I wanted to do was worship, while the demon coldly stared at the 'Dharma Body'.

After a moment, he finally let out a cold snort and said, "White Eyebrows, you old bastard, so many years have passed, are you still trying to play the ghost?"

The 'Dharma Body' finally turned its gaze to the demon, and after a moment an aged voice rang out on the platform, "So it was you. Do you still harbor evil intentions and want to be reborn to harm the world again?"

"Hmph, those who walk different paths cannot make plans together. Is it wrong for me to pursue my own path?" The demon seemed extremely angry, almost roaring, "All paths in the world have their reasons for existing, but back then you regarded me as evil and tried every means to suppress me, making me suffer endless torment. If it weren't for the change in the heavenly secrets later, I'm afraid I would have been suppressed to death by you, hahaha! White Eyebrow, you never dreamed that I would escape, even if it was only a part of me. In this era where even Yin-Yang Masters don't exist, who else can suppress me?"

"Hehe, once I'm fully reborn, I'll confiscate all your Dao platforms. I hope you've truly ascended to immortality, otherwise I'll drag your corpses out and grind them to dust," the chilling voice said, filled with endless resentment.

I was stunned. There were so many grudges involved, and now these grudges will slowly come to light.

I don't know the demon's true identity, so I can only call it by the usual name. Now I know that in ancient mythology, it was also a Taoist practitioner, but it followed a different path and was regarded as an evil person by orthodox people. Such a thing is perfectly normal in Taoism.

As the saying goes, those who walk different paths cannot make plans together. Everyone has their own views and pursuits. However, this society is inherently about a minority pursuing the majority, which is why justice and evil exist. Just as Buddhism says, good and evil are actually just a thought away.

"The past is the past, the rights and wrongs, the grudges and affections have all vanished. Why are you so attached to it? It's not too late to turn back now. Since you want to be reborn, why not give up the past, find a new path, get on the right track, and maybe you can create a new world for yourself."

"Hmph, stop spouting your grand theories. Seeking a new path? Heh heh, then why don't you show me your method of becoming an immortal? That way, I might actually find a new path, and I might even forgive and forget what happened before," the demon sneered.

The white-browed Taoist's 'Dharma Body' shook his head, "What method is there to become an immortal? I have searched for it all my life but have never found it. I guess there are no immortals in this universe, only cultivators and demons."

"Haha, so you're saying you're going to return to the earth, you old bastard?" the demon laughed.

"Yes, I, an old Taoist priest, have been pursuing immortality all my life, but in the end I still haven't found the way to become an immortal, and I have finally turned into dust."

"And what about them?"

"I don't know about them either, but I imagine their fates were similar. However, I heard that some of them went to space to search for them. I wonder if they succeeded."

"Haha, that's good. Otherwise, if you all become immortals, will I ever have a chance to rise to power?" the demon sneered. "Since I've come here today, I don't intend to leave empty-handed. White Eyebrow, I hope I don't find your burial place, otherwise... hehe."

"You're overthinking it. I passed away long ago without leaving a burial place. Even if you come here, you're destined to have wasted your time."

"Hmph, then I'll just tear down your dojo. Back then, you were able to dominate the world because of this advantageous location. If you hadn't cultivated here, could you have become a powerful figure? Hehe, but now this place is about to be worn away by time. I might as well give you one last push. I don't believe you didn't leave anything behind here. Hmph, White Eyebrow, do you think I'm a three-year-old? I've been dealing with you for more than a day or two. Don't I know you? Would you really be so willing to turn to dust?"
