Enveloped in this blue mist, one couldn't help but feel a chill, as if the coldness came from the depths of one's heart.

When I finally saw the whole thing, I was even more shocked. It was like a cliff, as if it had been cut in half, and we were standing on the other half.

Hanging from the ceiling of this space were many huge iron chains, which hung haphazardly and whose purpose was unknown. They were covered in rust, and the dark red rust looked as if they were covered in blood from a distance, which was frightening.

But what's most awe-inspiring isn't that, but rather the enormous golden gate standing straight up on the edge of the cliff.

"What...what is this thing?" I stared blankly at the huge golden gate, my tongue seemingly tied in knots, and a sense of fear welled up from the bottom of my heart.

Not to mention me, even my grandfather trembled slightly under this giant golden gate, as if there was something terrifying inside.

Shui Yanling almost collapsed to the ground the moment she saw the golden gate. What kind of aura was that? It was ancient and indestructible, like a gate to heaven.

The golden gate was covered with countless scars, large and small, but it did not appear dilapidated at all. Instead, it made people feel even more ancient and awe-inspiring. Human strength was like an ant in front of it, so insignificant.

The massive gate stood there, but it already made it hard for us to breathe. The gate was tightly shut, without even a crack in the middle, as if it hadn't been opened for who knows how long.

I pushed Yanling's hand away, slowly walked to the golden gate, and gently stroked it.

What a profound sense of history this is! It seems to have endured the sedimentation of countless ages, and the numerous scars, large and small, seem to tell an indelible story.

Grandpa stared intently at the giant gate. No matter how many times he looked at it, the shock it gave him was the same as it did for me when I first saw it.

The giant golden gate was situated right on the edge of the cliff, splitting it neatly in two. I walked around the golden gate and looked back. It was an endless abyss, and I couldn't see anything below at all.

I have no idea how deep it is, or what lies beneath. I suddenly have a guess: when the ghost soldiers passed through, the golden gate didn't open. Does that mean these ghost soldiers crawled out of this abyss?

Thinking this way, I felt more and more that what was below was like hell, as if something was about to break through the darkness and crawl out from there. I couldn't help but take a few steps back.

"Grandpa, what is this?" Shui Yanling also looked at her grandfather. All of this was too unusual. The abyss, the golden gate, and the ghost soldiers passing through—this was definitely not an ordinary place; it must be hiding a great secret.

Grandpa looked at the giant golden gate and shook his head. "I don't know what this is either. Your father brought me here back then, but he didn't tell me what it was. He just told me very seriously that I must protect this place well and never let anyone know that it exists."

"Later, they were hunted down by a group of mysterious people, seemingly because of this door. When your father was dying, he told me that he left something for you here. He said that if you ever wanted to know the truth, he would bring you here. I really don't know anything else."

Grandpa sighed heavily as he said this, as if his sadness had been stirred up again.

Hearing my grandfather's words, I couldn't help but turn my gaze back to the giant golden gate. I never imagined that this gate would have such a profound impact.

The deaths of my parents were actually related to this giant golden gate. Could it be that someone wanted to obtain this gate, but my parents refused, so they hunted down my parents?

But what exactly is inside this door? What is it that would make those people go to such lengths to hunt down my parents and obtain what's inside?

And what exactly is that abyss? If those ghostly soldiers came from that abyss, where are they going? And where did the human heads on the carriages pulled by those ghostly soldiers come from? All of this is shrouded in mystery, and although it may seem unrelated to me, it is actually intricately connected.

At this moment, I clearly understand that I am standing at the forefront of a storm. If I don't take the initiative to figure these things out, someone will definitely come knocking on my door.

I'm truly in a bind now, like a pawn with no way back, I can only keep moving forward.

Chapter Sixty-Nine: Warm and Cozy

"Although I don't know what this is, I know it's something your parents would risk their lives to protect. If others find out about it, something terrible will happen!" Grandpa said with a serious expression.

I nodded. Yes, since this is my parents' choice, then it is what I should pursue.

I quietly walked up to the giant door and pressed my hand against it. Since my father said he left something for me here, it should naturally be inside this giant door. But how do I open this door?

I turned to look at my grandfather, who shook his head at me, seemingly unsure how to open the door either.

In fact, my father only told my grandfather that all he needed to do was bring me here. He didn't tell my grandfather what else to do, so my grandfather didn't know how to retrieve the things my father left me.

I don't know what to do, but since it's something my father left me, there must be some way to open this door.
