The God of Arrows Shoots the Sun, Six Paths of Reincarnation

The Third Hall, ruled by Emperor Wang Yu of the Song Dynasty, whose birthday is the eighth day of the second lunar month, is in charge of the Black Rope Hell. It also has sixteen smaller hells. Anyone who disobeys their elders or instigates lawsuits in the mortal world is sent to this hell to suffer the punishments of being hung upside down, having their eyes gouged out, and having their bones scraped. After serving their sentence, they are transferred to the Fourth Hall.

The Fourth Court, ruled by King Lü of the Five Officials, whose birthday is the 18th day of the second month, is in charge of the Great Hell, also known as the Hell of Peeling and Blood Pool.

The Fifth Hall, under the jurisdiction of Yama, the King of Hell, is celebrated on the eighth day of the first lunar month. Originally residing in the First Hall, he was demoted to this hall due to his compassion for the unjustly killed and his repeated releases of those who sought redress. He is in charge of the Great Hell of Crying Out and the Sixteen Lesser Hells of Heart-Piercing Punishment.

The Sixth Court, ruled by King Bi of Biancheng, whose birthday is the eighth day of the third month, is in charge of the Great Howling Hell and the City of the Wrongfully Dead, and also has sixteen smaller hells. The disobedient and unfilial are dismembered by two little devils using a saw.

The Seventh Court, ruled by King Dong of Mount Tai, whose birthday is March 27th, is in charge of the Hell of Burning Torture, also known as the Hell of Grinding Meat Paste, which also has sixteen smaller hells.

The Eighth Court, ruled by the City King Huang, whose birthday is the first day of the fourth lunar month, is in charge of the Great Hell of Great Heat and Great Anguish, also known as the Hell of the Suffocating Pot, which has sixteen smaller hells.

The Ninth Court, ruled by King Lu of Equality, whose birthday is the eighth day of the fourth month, is in charge of the Iron Net Avici Hell in Fengdu City, which also contains sixteen smaller hells.

The Tenth Court of Hell, King Xue of the Wheel of Reincarnation, whose birthday is the seventeenth day of the fourth month, is in charge of retrieving ghosts from each court, distinguishing between good and evil, determining their level, and sending them to be reborn in the four major continents.

There is also a separate hell, with eighteen levels in total. People go to hell to receive punishment and repent according to their good and evil deeds.

The first level is the Tongue-Pulling Hell. Those who, in life, sow discord, slander, harm others, are glib-tongued, use clever arguments, and lie and deceive, will be sent to the Tongue-Pulling Hell after death. Demons pry open their mouths, clamp their tongues with iron pincers, and pull them out—not all at once, but slowly, elongated… Afterwards, they enter the Scissors Hell and the Iron Tree Hell.

The second level, the Scissors Hell, is in the mortal world. If a woman's husband dies prematurely, leaving her a widow, and you instigate her to remarry or act as a matchmaker for her, then after you die, you will be sent to the Scissors Hell and have your ten fingers cut off!

The third level is the Iron Tree Hell. Those who sow discord among family members, instigating discord between fathers and sons, brothers, sisters, or spouses during their lifetime will enter the Iron Tree Hell after death. Sharp blades are embedded in the trees, piercing the skin of those who enter from behind, hanging them from the iron trees. After this, they will enter the Tongue-Pulling Hell and the Steaming Cage Hell. The fourth level is the Mirror of Retribution Hell: If someone commits a crime in the mortal world, even if they don't confess, or if they use connections to bribe officials and escape punishment (it's better if they don't escape), there are still fugitives who, even after a lifetime of escape, will eventually die. They will report to the underworld and be thrown into the Mirror of Retribution Hell, where their sins will be revealed in the mirror. Then they will be sent to different hells to suffer further torment.

The fifth level, the Steaming Cage Hell: There are people who gossip, spread rumors, frame others, and slander them. These are what people commonly call gossipy women. After death, such people are thrown into the Steaming Cage Hell and steamed in a steamer. Not only that, after being steamed, a cold wind blows, reshaping their bodies and taking them to the Tongue-Pulling Hell.

The sixth level, the Copper Pillar Hell: Those who intentionally commit arson, whether to destroy evidence, for revenge, or to kill others by setting fires, will be sent to the Copper Pillar Hell after death. The demons will strip you naked and make you hug a copper pillar one meter in diameter and two meters high. Charcoal will be burned inside the pillar, and they will fan it constantly until it glows red-hot… The seventh level, the Mountain of Knives Hell: You may not believe in the gods, but you cannot blaspheme them; those who kill animals—not just humans, but even cows, horses, cats, or dogs in their previous lives—are also living beings, perhaps even human beings in their past lives, or perhaps even yours… Because the underworld is different from the mortal world, there is no distinction between high and low, noble and base; cows, horses, cats, dogs, and humans are all called living beings. Those who commit one of the above two sins will be sent to the Mountain of Knives Hell after death, stripped naked, and forced to climb the mountain of knives… Depending on the severity of their sins, they may “reside” on the mountain of knives permanently.

The eighth level, the Ice Mountain Hell: Evil women who murder their husbands, commit adultery, or maliciously abort are sent to the Ice Mountain Hell after death. They are made to strip naked and climb the ice mountain. Also sent are those addicted to gambling, disrespectful to their parents, and unjust and immoral individuals. Pan Jinlian is definitely there!

The ninth level, the Oil Cauldron Hell: Thieves, robbers, bullies, kidnappers of women and children, false accusations, slander, and those who seize others' property or wives are sent to the Oil Cauldron Hell after death. They are stripped naked and thrown into a cauldron of hot oil, where they are fried repeatedly with a loud crackling sound! Depending on the severity of their crimes, they are fried n times… Sometimes, those with particularly heinous sins, having just emerged from the Ice Mountain Hell, are escorted by demons to the Oil Cauldron Hell to warm up…

This is the ninth level, also known as the Eastern Hell.

The tenth level, the Ox Pit Hell: This is a hell for avenging animals. Those who, in life, indiscriminately kill livestock, building their happiness on their suffering, will be thrown into the Ox Pit Hell after death. Thrown into the pit, they are attacked by several wild oxen, gored by horns, trampled by hooves… (Personally, I think this is the most comfortable level.) According to records, there is also a hell called "Knife Boat Hell," which is not included in these eighteen levels of hell; it will be added later.

The eleventh level, the Stone Press Hell: If a person gives birth to an infant and, for whatever reason—such as the infant being born mentally challenged or disabled, or due to reasons like preference for sons over daughters—drowns or abandons the infant, such a person will be sent to the Stone Press Hell after death. It is a large square stone pool (trough) with a giant stone of the same size suspended above it by ropes. The person is placed in the pool, and the ropes are cut with an axe… The twelfth level, the Mortar and Pestle Hell: This hell is quite peculiar. If, while alive, you waste food and squander grains—for example, carelessly throwing away leftovers from a banquet, or eating a few bites of food you don't like and then throwing it away—you will be sent to the Mortar and Pestle Hell after death, where you will be pounded to death in a mortar. Strangely, if you talk while eating, especially using foul language, obscenities, or cursing, you will also be sent to the Mortar and Pestle Hell to suffer after death.

The thirteenth level, the Blood Pool Hell: Those who disrespect others, are unfilial to their parents, are dishonest, or follow crooked paths will be thrown into the Blood Pool Hell after death to suffer in its pool of blood. I don't quite understand why those who die from difficult childbirth, vomiting blood, or bleeding (dying from spotting blood) are also thrown into the Blood Pool to suffer after death?
