The space, which had been completely dark, suddenly became incredibly bright. I covered my eyes; after being in the dark for so long, the sudden brightness was almost unbearable for my eyes.

When I opened my eyes again, I suddenly found myself standing in a desert.

A blood-red full moon hung in the sky, casting a faint crimson light upon the desert, which seemed to become even clearer under its glow.

I stood quietly on a small mound, and the two spheres of energy were floating around me.

Looking around, there was nothing in the desert except endless sand, and in the sand, there were large patches of white bones.

Some of the skeletons were directly exposed on the ground, while others were half-buried in the sand. However, all the skeletons had one thing in common: none of them were intact.

Where am I? My mind is in complete chaos. Too much information is coming at once, and I can't process it all.

Just as I was feeling a bit unwell, suddenly many figures appeared from the edge of the desert. Not only did dense crowds emerge from both sides, but I was standing right in the middle of both sides.

A bugle call came from afar, as if it were some kind of signal.

Chapter Seventy-One: A Scalp Tremble

Suddenly, these figures sped up and rushed over, carrying spears and shields and other cold weapons.

I was a little confused. What era is this? Why are they still using these kinds of weapons to fight? But I quickly changed my mind because I gradually began to see what those people who looked like soldiers looked like.

They were all carrying spears like those from the Shang Dynasty and wearing ancient armor, and when I looked closely at their faces, I instantly felt a chill run down my spine.

Those people were all just like the ghostly soldiers we had seen at the beginning, with long, horse-like faces and heads that were much longer than those of ordinary people. Their pale faces were completely expressionless.

What exactly is this place? As if echoing the war, even the blood-red sky has become even more somber, as if one is in a sea of blood, making it hard to breathe.

My legs were already trembling slowly. Was this hell? Thinking this, I broke out in a cold sweat on my back.

Countless ghostly soldiers on both sides were about to charge together at the sound of the horns. The vast and mighty army, with its heavy and murderous aura, seemed to be about to turn this place into a sea of blood.

I couldn't help but think of the ghostly passageway I had seen at the beginning, where the carriages pulled by ghostly horses were filled with human heads. At the time, I couldn't see what those heads looked like.

I suddenly thought of a possibility: one of the reasons why the ghostly soldiers borrowed the road in the legend was because of the outbreak of a ghost war. Could this be the ghost war? I couldn't help but swallow. If this was the legendary ghost war, then the ghostly soldiers borrowing the road at the beginning would make sense.

The human heads being carried on the carts behind the ghost soldiers must have been the result of the war in the ghost realm.

Thinking this, I became even more frightened. When I wanted to escape this place of trouble as quickly as possible, I suddenly found that I couldn't move. It was as if my body was imprisoned, and I couldn't even move a finger.

Now I was really panicked. I could see those ghost soldiers about to charge in, and I could imagine my body being torn to pieces by their attack.

The two spheres of energy, however, continued to float around me, seemingly unmoved.

"Help me quickly! I don't want to die here!" I shouted urgently to the two balls of energy as I watched the ghostly soldiers charging towards me.

After all, they brought me here, so they must have a way to help me.

But they kept floating around me, as if they didn't understand what I was saying.

The heavy sound of horns still echoed in the distance, and ghostly soldiers kept pouring out from the edge of my vision. Behind them, I even saw many strange and bizarre things, like monsters, slowly approaching. Some looked like bats, and some looked like dogs.

There was also a ghostly army that looked like a whole unit of soldiers riding ghostly horses and charging past. When I saw this, my face turned even greener.

I don't want to get involved in their war in the ghost realm, but it seems I have no choice now. I'm standing right in the middle, and no matter what, I'll be caught up in it.

However, the two energies seemed unmoved. When I turned around, the ghostly soldiers on both sides were already standing beside me, and it seemed that I was about to witness a scene of blood and flesh flying everywhere.

I have already closed my eyes. At this moment, I cannot move at all, and I am caught between two pairs of ghostly soldiers. I am doomed to die.

Just then, a more majestic horn sounded from afar. As soon as the horn sounded, the group of ghost soldiers who were about to charge into battle suddenly stopped.

It took me a long time after I closed my eyes to realize that I was alright, and then I dared to slowly open my eyes.

At this moment, I seemed to be able to move again. I saw a dark mass of ghostly soldiers standing on my body without moving at all. I couldn't see any expression on their extremely long faces. They looked like a group of puppets.

I quickly left them and looked into the distance. I found that the whole world seemed to have stopped. Everything was still, even the blood moon in the sky seemed to have stopped sprinkling its faint blood color onto the ground.

I looked further into the distance and found that time seemed to have truly stopped. The weapons in the hands of the ghostly soldiers who were riding on horseback were now half-swung and suspended in the air.
