"Of course. You should come over as soon as Sherry wakes up!"
"It was a promise!"
After making this promise, Jelu and Firsa parted ways halfway. She returned to the altar, only to find that the secret passage had too many branches and she almost got lost.
It took her a lot of effort to get back to the way she came.
As she approached the altar, she smelled blood, and her heart tightened with fear that something had gone wrong, so she quickened her pace to return.
Jelu witnessed firsthand: nothing unusual happened inside the altar—yet someone attacked outside the altar.
With a thud, Qi collapsed unconscious in a pool of blood.
Standing beside her was a woman holding a blood-stained blade.
She turned to look at Jelu, her face masked and expressionless.
This person was the assassin who attacked him that day. He saw the person's face before he lost consciousness, so there was no mistake.
She had only recently learned that she was a key member of the Midnight Slayers named Hakurin, and today they finally met face to face. She then discovered that Hakurin was also a katana user.
Why couldn't Philsa's magical senses detect the intruder?
There's no time for further thought; I must draw my sword and confront the enemy before me.
Bo Ren grinned, recalling the night she confronted the fake Jelu, when she drew her sword and slashed the fake doll away.
Not long after that, Thin Blade finally found the real Cleanse and launched a sneak attack, successfully subduing it.
However, the final result was not as she wished; she encountered Yog and his apprentice. Concealing her demonic aura, she secretly followed them to this place and finally discovered Felsa and his group's objective. "I never imagined you would want to resurrect the dead? The gods will curse you!"
Jelu didn't reply with any further words, gradually closing in until she drew her sword and slashed horizontally at the right distance. The nimble Bo Ren anticipated this move and jumped aside first. Now Jelu and Bo Ren had switched positions, with the former protecting Qi who had fallen to the ground.
Qi Shang was still breathing, but she was too weak to get up. Blood kept gushing from the severe wound in her abdomen, and it was almost overflowing to Jie Lu's boots.
"Miss Qi, are you alright?"
She could hear Jelu calling her name, but she was powerless to answer. She could only point with all her might at the stone platform to indicate that the enemy's target was the doll that was surrounded by the wind curtain.
Jielu understood, immediately sheathed her sword, and kept her eyes fixed on the enemy.
Almost at the same instant, Thin Blade also retracted his blade, adopting a similar striking posture as she had drawn her sword.
The two stood approximately three meters apart, neither moving an inch, silently awaiting the opportune moment to strike. Only the constant whistling of the wind vortex echoed within the cave.
Thin Blade could guess that Jielu was easily distracted at times like this, and knew the main reason why she was distracted, so he spoke first to disrupt her:
"That kid—he'll be targeted by a hail of arrows the moment he steps into Amethyst Town. Even if he manages to dodge the arrows, he can't possibly handle our elite troops. Not even the hero known as 'Felsa the Ice King.' Our brothers are all clamoring for his life!"
Thin Blade saw that Jie Lu remained unmoved—her crimson eyes were fixed on him with a bloodthirsty gaze, causing him a slight fear within. However, he quickly continued talking to himself, while also remaining vigilant against a possible sneak attack:
"The boss swore to behead him! He won't lose now that he's used the power of Bloodlust. That kid's dead meat!"
At this moment, Jielu's expression shifted slightly, then she tensed up again, continuing to concentrate. Bo Ren noticed that the enemy was beginning to tense up.
Her weakness is her companion, Firza the Ice Queen—who has become even more deadly since "that day".
Thin Blade continued, not stopping his verbal sparring: "I was just kidding! The king ordered us to capture him alive and commanded us that we couldn't afford to lose Extreme Ice after losing Wind Vortex. Now it seems that both Wind Vortex and Extreme Ice are fine and can be taken into our possession! However, swords have no eyes. If he encounters Red Blade, he might lose an arm or a leg, since he killed Continue Blade!"
Thin Blade's last words were almost a shout, and at the same time, Jelu stepped forward, about to draw her sword. In that instant, Thin Blade anticipated Jelu's next move and chanted a spell to make himself invisible.
Jielu suddenly lost her target and almost panicked. But she quickly calmed down, knowing all too well that her opponent was an expert in sneak attacks.
She put aside the verbal harassment she had received from the enemy, silently closed her eyes, and listened to the sounds around her. Firsa didn't rely on her eyes in battle; sometimes she could detect enemy movements solely through her ears.
A calm and still mind. Simply maintain this state of mind and body.
Wait for the enemy to make their move, then strike first.
The elusive blade, now clinging to the wall like a spider, noticed that Geluru had calmed down instantly, ignoring her previous words, which made him feel somewhat troubled.
She was also patiently waiting for the enemy to reveal a weakness. The power of the vortex also had a significant impact on her.
Her gaze occasionally swept over the wind curtain swirling around the stone platform, and another plan came to mind.
"Little sister, have you ever thought about this—"
"Shut up!" Just as the thin blade uttered the word, Jielu's ears caught the vibration in the air, and she accurately drew her sword in the upper right direction, releasing two swift sword energies.
Using all her strength, she dodged and shifted, but the sword energy only managed to cut a strand of hair at her right temple.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Bo Ren jumped to the ground and hid behind the stone platform, using the stone platform surrounded by the wind curtain as an obstacle to confront Jie Lu.
She was annoyed that her enemy would suddenly interrupt her and tell her to shut up, so she forced herself to finish her sentence: "You won't have an easy time after this woman wakes up!"
This sentence distracted Jielu again.
As expected—Thin Blade's guess was correct. Once her relationship with Philsa was involved, Jelu would become uneasy and thus reveal her weakness.
