Chapter 558

5. Lin Yue returned to the school's teachers' dormitory at around 11 p.m.

I just got back and found the other three people having a meeting.

Sang Huanxin noticed Lin Yue's injury and exclaimed, "Wow, you went to war?"

"It really is..." he muttered to himself.

"I heard there were a series of explosions of unknown origin on Fourth Street. I guess you were injured in that accident? Is it related to the devil?" Uncle Bin asked.

"Even a fool would know that it must be related to demons! Who would have the time to carry out a series of bombing attacks in China? This isn't the Middle East." Then Lin Yue told everyone about how he and Lan Xi were injured in the bombing attack by the bomb demon, Foful.

"Not many people actually know that it was done by the devil," Uncle Bin retorted.

Lin Yue glanced at Shan Shan. She didn't turn around and went back to her room.

"Alright, enough joking. Here's the latest clue." Uncle Bin gestured for Lin Yue to sit down and recover, then said, "I asked an old friend to look up information about sacrifices. He called today to tell me about the clue he found. Want to hear it?"

"Wait..." Lin Yue ran to the refrigerator, took out a box of milk tea, inserted a straw and took a few sips. "Tell me, I'm listening." He lay down wearily.

“This is a high-level sacrifice…” Uncle Bin rubbed his hands. It was already eleven o’clock, a time when most people would be sleepy, but he was not sleepy at all.

According to the "Grimoire of All Magic," the purpose of this high-level sacrificial ritual is to summon the demon god sealed at the bottom of the underworld, to use four offerings to create a special vessel for his descent, and to return to the human world through the River Styx to rule the world.

As far as we know, there is probably only one demon god sealed at the very bottom of the underworld—the demon god Nedinger.

It is the progenitor of demons, possessing the most ancient civilization, controlling the most primal evil, the most severe father of the earth, and God's most troublesome enemy.

"Your old friend is so capable, he even managed to find this out." Lin Yue only started listening seriously at this point.

The Styx River Passage that night was indeed no coincidence. As for the legend of Naidinger, Lin Yue had only come across some fragmented records while translating incomplete ancient texts, all of which were obscure and even taboo metaphors.

“Think about the previous cases. In the first case, the victim was brutally skinned, losing their ‘skin,’ or ‘surface.’ In the second case, the victim’s internal organs and flesh were completely removed, losing their ‘inner self.’ These two things combined create a container that is complete in a superficial sense.”

"And what happened at school?"

"As I just said, this is a complete container in the superficial sense, but the 'skin' and 'contents' alone can only be pieced together to form a dead doll."

This is a high-level sacrifice; it can't be that simple, so think back. A portion of the deceased student's soul was extracted; that portion was actually his "soul." The murderer prepared the outer container and then began preparing the inner container.

"So in the end... the murderer also wants to seize someone's 'spirit'?"

"clever!"

“I’ve also read some magic books while translating them. You can continue.” “Spirit” is a purer form of nothingness than “soul.” The attributes of every person, every exorcist, and even every demon and angel are imprinted on the spirit.

For example, Lin Yue's "ice" attribute is determined by his "spirit".

"I've been wondering why things have been so calm lately? It's because the murderer can't find a suitable 'spirit.' The 'spirit' required for this high-level sacrifice must be neither light nor dark incompatible, so that it can accommodate the spirit of the demon god."

The coexistence of light and darkness is what's known as chaos. Demons are generally chaotic beings, transcending angels and demons. And the spirit of chaos is possessed only by the most unique individuals in the world. Such a person is extremely rare.

The quick-thinking Lin Yue seemed to have guessed the answer, but he hoped he was wrong.

"Don't tell me..."

"Have you heard of Nephilim, the offspring of an angel and a demon? The male is called the Son of the Holy Demon, and the female is called the Holy Blood Witch."

Lin Yue almost spat his milk tea in Uncle Bin's face.

He didn't know how to explain, so he just stated the result: "Lan Xi is in danger! We need to protect her immediately!"

Lin Yue dragged his tired body to his feet. Suddenly, from this angle, he saw a pure white feather half-hidden under the sofa.

He picked it up with a stiff expression. "What's going on?" Actually, he knew without being asked that Uncle Bin had consulted that angel for clues!

Uncle Bin, having been exposed, could only shrug helplessly. “We ordinary people can’t possibly look up the ‘Grimoire of All Magic’; we can only ask Viktor to do it.”

"Isn't he just a mid-level angel?" Lin Yue roared angrily.

At that moment, Sister Sang came out of the bathroom. "What happened?" she asked, noticing Lin Yue's unusual agitation.

“But he knows high angels,” Uncle Bin advised Lin Yue to calm down. “If it weren’t for him, we probably wouldn’t have known Lan Xi was in danger so soon! Let’s not worry about that now, making sure Lan Xi is safe is the most important thing! And by the way…”

Uncle Bin snatched the feather from Lin Yue's hand, lit it with a lighter, and let the ashes of the burning feather fall onto Lin Yue's hand injury.

A miracle occurred; the wound healed rapidly at a speed visible to the naked eye until it was completely healed.

"Old monster, you son of a bitch! I'll settle this score with you when I get back! Don't think that just because you healed my wounds you can make me let it go!"

Uncle Bin rode his motorcycle, carrying Lin Yue on his back, to the ancestral hall on Sixth Street. In the howling wind, an extremely ominous premonition spread through Lin Yue's heart.

Lin Yue and Uncle Bin arrived at the Hundred Families Ancestral Hall, but everything was quiet. The lights were still on, some small shops were still open, and there was a chess game being played by two people in silence. Lin Yue knocked on the gate that very night, and the gatekeeper opened it a crack, cursing under his breath.
