Yu the Great spent thirty years exploring the Mysterious Crystal Stone, which had remained unmelted for ten thousand years, from the Nine Peaks of the Starry Sea in the West Kunlun Mountains to the Purple Crystal Mine thousands of miles below the Eastern Cang Sea in the Western Wilderness. Later, by chance, he obtained a rare ore from outer space and ordered people to mine copper from the First Mountain. He then used the poisonous fire from the ground to burn the copper and cast the Nine Tripods. On the day of the completion, there were unusual celestial phenomena.
On the square of the human settlement, tens of thousands of people surged about. Yu the Great selected 1,800 shamans from the Jiuli tribe to surround the Nine Cauldrons and ordered them to release their own blood essence into the Nine Cauldrons. The Nine Cauldrons were Ji Cauldron, Yan Cauldron, Qing Cauldron, Xu Cauldron, Yang Cauldron, Jing Cauldron, Yu Cauldron, Liang Cauldron, and Yong Cauldron.
Each of these nine tripods displays a unique image, representing the nine sons of the Ancestral Dragon. Dragons are known for their lustful nature, and the Ancestral Dragon was no exception. He had nine sons, none of whom were dragons. The eldest, Qiuniu, loved music and is depicted crouching on the head of a zither; the second, Yazi, was bloodthirsty and fond of fighting, and is carved into the hilts of knives and swords; the third, Chaofeng, loved adventure, and his image is found among the beasts on the corners of palace roofs; the fourth, Pulao, roars loudly when struck, and serves as the beast-shaped knob on the handle of a large bell, helping its sound travel far; the fifth, Suanni, resembles a lion, loves smoke and sitting, and is depicted leaning against the feet of an incense burner, inhaling and exhaling smoke. The sixth son, Baxia (also known as Baxia, which is a single character within the box, [虫八][虫夏]), also known as XX (bixi), resembles a tortoise with teeth and likes to carry heavy loads; the tortoise under the stele is also a tortoise. The seventh son, Bi'an, resembles a tiger and likes to litigate; its image is found on both sides of prison gates or the main hall of government offices. The eighth son, Fuxi, resembles a dragon and is fond of literature; it coils around the top of the stele. The ninth son, Chiwen, also known as Chiwei or Chiwen, has a moist mouth and a rough throat and likes to swallow; thus, it became the swallowing beast at both ends of the palace ridge, used to extinguish fire and ward off disasters.
The reason why the nine cauldrons are arranged in the shape of nine sons is Xuan Tian's intention. The dragon race is in an awkward position. If it is allowed to develop unchecked, several saints and the Heavenly Court will probably have their eyes on it in the future. The fortune of the four seas is under Xuan Tian's control, so he will naturally not be willing to give it away. In addition, he has other uses for these nine cauldrons, so he naturally has to make them better, linking the dragon race with the human race, so as to at least make the dragon race a little safer.
The essence and blood of the sorcerer flowed continuously into the Nine Cauldrons. Yu the Great sat naked in the center of the Nine Cauldrons, his entire body engulfed in flames, which burned away his physical form, leaving only a golden skeleton. Then, the Nine Cauldrons emitted a seven-colored glow, and countless lights of faith from the sky gathered there, being continuously absorbed into the Nine Cauldrons. Once the Nine Cauldrons had completely absorbed all these lights of faith, Yu the Great would use the essence and blood of the sorcerer contained in the faith of all the people to recast his physical body, forging an indestructible and immortal body, and thus reaching the level of the Three Sovereigns.
As Yu the Great watched the Nine Cauldrons grow stronger, an indescribable ecstasy filled his eyes. Just as the light of faith was completely absorbed, an even fiercer flame ignited on Yu the Great's body, further tempering his frail frame. Once the essence blood of the sorcerer was fully replenished, his physical body could be rebuilt.
Just as success was within reach, dark clouds gathered on the horizon, flashing with lightning and rumbling with thunder. A bolt of lightning struck down, killing all 1,800 shamans. The Nine Cauldrons were also shaken, rising into the air and scattering into the primordial world. Yu the Great was shocked, never expecting that his efforts would be in vain. His physical body was gone. Although he wanted to stop it, he was powerless at this moment and could not even protect himself. It was because he had failed to cultivate the immortal path, and with his physical body gone, he naturally perished.
It was the work of the Three Pure Ones. Yu the Great had stopped them from spreading the Dao because he was the Emperor and could not be killed before. Now, after Yu the Great had refined his physical body, they killed the sorcerer and sent the Nine Cauldrons flying. Yu the Great, being a mortal, could not survive without his physical body. It was pitiful that Yu the Great, despite his elaborate schemes, still died at the hands of the sages.
The Nine Cauldrons, containing the merits and beliefs of the Human Emperor, could suppress the fortune of the human race and were thus sent to the world to fall into the primordial earth veins.
After Yu the Great died suddenly, there was no will regarding the throne. However, many in the court favored Yu's son, Qi, so Qi naturally ascended the throne. After succeeding to the throne, Qi established the Xia Dynasty, beginning a hereditary dynasty.
Nineteen Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Vows
It is said that Ksitigarbha originally intended to make a great vow on Yin Mountain, and preach the Dharma there to guide the souls of the dead to the Western Paradise. However, when he arrived at Yin Mountain, he found out that there were six Venerable Ones of Rebirth there. Ksitigarbha was dumbfounded. He watched as the six Venerable Ones were busy there, and he could not get involved. He could only stand awkwardly to the side.
Well, it was quite awkward. After all, it seemed like he was there to steal someone else's job. Moreover, in Ksitigarbha's opinion, the other party was much more familiar with handling business than he, a novice. With a flash of golden light, he entangled a demon. After a puff of green smoke, the demon was cleansed of its sins and then sent to the underworld.
Dizang, that traitor, originally wanted to open a shop here, maybe a specialty store or something. But he didn't expect that someone else had already started doing it. And judging from their actions and service attitude, this was basically a long-established brand. Dizang wondered if he could compete with them if he opened a shop here.
This is a competition of technology and service.
In terms of skill, Ksitigarbha might not be much better than these six Venerable Ones of Rebirth, as they all use the same methods and the difference is not significant. In terms of service, Ksitigarbha can't even come close. There's no doubt that the six of them are better than him. They have dedicated chanting services to help the evil spirits be delivered. Once the evil spirit's karma is washed away, a flash of golden light appears, and the Venerable Ones of Rebirth send the evil spirit to the underworld. The efficiency is quite high, leaving Ksitigarbha dumbfounded.
Seeing that Ksitigarbha was standing there dumbfounded, another Venerable One of Rebirth spoke up, saying, "Judging from your appearance, you can't be of any help. We already have enough manpower here. Why don't you go over there and help? Anyway, there are quite a lot of evil spirits there." With that, he pointed to the eighteen levels of hell below.
