Lao Jun nodded in agreement, feeling somewhat troubled. Of the Five Sages of the East, he and Yuan Shi had formed one faction, Tong Tian and Xuan Tian's relationship was ambiguous, but judging from the situation, it was certain that Xuan Tian would not be an enemy of Tong Tian, and Nuwa's relationship was even more ambiguous, so it was highly unlikely that she would take action. Lao Jun said bitterly, "Even so, so be it, but aren't you afraid of bearing the infamy of 'inviting wolves into the house', Junior Brother?"
Yuanshi felt inexplicably irritated. Upon hearing Laojun's words, he remained silent for a moment before slowly saying, "Brother, please rest assured. I have my own plans and will not allow the Western Sect to rise to power because of this."
Seeing that Laozi still had doubts, Yuanshi said quietly, "Even if the Western religion takes the opportunity to prosper, I will have no complaints. After all, if my religion is destroyed, can I still care whether the Western religion prospers or not?" These words made Laozi feel very embarrassed.
The matter was settled in this way. A little while later, Guang Chengzi came to report, saying, "Masters, there is a Daoist named Zhunti from the Western Sect coming from outside."
Upon hearing this, Laojun turned and glanced at Yuanshi. Yuanshi dared not meet his gaze. Laojun said solemnly, "I hope you will remember what I said earlier, junior brother." Yuanshi was startled by this and bowed to Laojun, saying, "I dare not forget." The two then went outside and greeted Zhunti.
After exchanging greetings, they sat down. Yuanshi Tianzun laughed and said, "Brother Daoist, your purpose in coming here is nothing more than to break the Immortal Slaughtering Formation and gather those with affinity in the West. However, I was hoping to rely on you, but unexpectedly you arrived first, which is in accordance with the will of Heaven and is truly wonderful!" Zhunti Daoist also laughed and said, "To tell you the truth, Brother Daoist, in my West, when the flowers bloom, everyone sees me. Therefore, I came to the southeastern lands but did not encounter anyone with affinity. However, I have seen hundreds of red wisps of energy rising into the sky from the southeastern lands several times, which I know indicates that there is affinity. I came here to guide those with affinity and to promote the Western Dharma. Therefore, I did not hesitate to travel a long way to meet my friends from the Jie Sect."
Laozi paused for a moment, then said, "Your arrival today is a sign from Heaven."
Zhunti Daoist glanced at the Zhuxian Sword Formation and sighed, "There are four precious swords in this formation, all of which are innate wonders with extraordinary uses!" After saying this, he couldn't help but reveal a greedy look. His Western region was poor, and not only were his talents dwindling, but he also had no good magic weapons. Naturally, he was extremely envious.
Laozi glanced at him and said softly, "Back then, the Master distributed treasures to suppress the four directions and bestowed upon me the Four Swords of Tongtian and Zhuxian, as well as a formation diagram, to intercept the sect's fortune." These words directly interrupted Zhunti's thoughts.
Zhunti knew that Laozi was threatening him, but he was also unwilling. Just as he was about to say something, Laozi did not give him the chance and said directly, "Although the immortals are in trouble this time, it is the will of Heaven. Now that you have come at the right time, brother; it is only by obtaining one more person that we can break this formation."
Zhunti Daoist's heart stirred, but he abandoned his desire for the treasure, saying, "Since that's the case, I'll come to help those with affinity. I'll go and invite my leader. It's just as the Three Teachings should be engaged in the extermination of immortals to distinguish the jade." Yuanshi was overjoyed. Zhunti Daoist bid farewell to Laozi and Yuanshi and went west to invite the Western Leader to guide him, so that they could meet those with affinity.
Now, Zhunti arrived in the West, met the Guide of the West, bowed, and sat down. The Guide of the West said, "Fellow Daoist, you went to the East, why have you returned so quickly?"
Zhunti said, “I saw hundreds of red lights emerging from the gates of the Chan and Jie sects. Now, the Tongtian Sect Leader has set up the Immortal Slaughtering Formation, which has four gates and cannot be broken by less than four people. We now have three people, but we are still one short. I have come to invite my senior brother to go and complete the task.”
After hearing this, Jieyin and the Daoist Zhunti traveled to the Eastern Land. They rode on auspicious clouds and instantly arrived at the thatched hut. Guangchengzi came to inform Laozi and Yuanshi, "The two venerable masters from the West have arrived." Laozi and Yuanshi, leading their disciples, descended from the hut to greet them. They saw a Daoist, sixteen feet tall. The Great Immortal was barefoot, his feet fragrant with the scent of jujubes and pears, and his steps on auspicious clouds were truly extraordinary.
The twelve lotus platforms display the Dharma treasures, and white light appears by the Eight Virtues Pond.
The saying "May you live as long as heaven and earth" is not mere rash; the words "May your blessings flow like the vast waves" are not wild.
The practice of cultivating relics is called embryonic breathing. Please be at ease; the Western Paradise is the ultimate bliss.
It is said that Laozi and Yuanshi welcomed Jieyin and Zhunti onto the reed hut, bowed, and sat down.
Lao Tzu first said, "The reason we dare to trouble you today is that the three religions have formed an alliance to jointly resolve this calamity. It is not that we deliberately created this calamity."
Jieyin also said, "I have come here to meet a guest with a predestined connection, and also to fulfill my destiny."
Yuanshi laughed and said, "Now that all four of you are here, we should break this formation as soon as possible. Why bother with this mortal world?" Laozi glanced at him and said, "You should instruct your disciples to break the formation tomorrow."
Yuanshi commanded Yu Ding Zhenren, Dao Xing Tianzun, Guang Chengzi, and Chi Jingzi: "You four, extend your hands." Yuanshi wrote a talisman in each of their palms. "Tomorrow, when you see thunder and flames erupt within the formation, remove all four swords. I have a clever use for them." The four obeyed and stepped forward. He then commanded Randeng: "You stand in the air; if Tongtian Jiaozhu ascends, you can strike him down with the Dinghai Pearl, and he will naturally be injured. This will also show him the boundless power of my Chan Sect's magic."
Upon hearing this, Ran Deng panicked and said, "Teacher, do you know that the Tongtian Sect Leader is ultimately the Sage Pangu? Although I have some magical power, it is far inferior to his. How can I be his opponent, and how can I stop him?"
Zhunti, who was standing to the side, laughed loudly and said, "Our Western Sect has a great method, so please don't be impatient, fellow Daoist." After saying that, he looked at Jieyin.
Jieyin understood immediately, took out the Jieyin Banner, wrote a talisman on it, and said to Randeng, "Let me lend you a hand." After saying that, he threw the banner, which landed on Randeng's head. Instantly, boundless light shone in all directions, and bursts of Buddhist chants arose. Golden light shone on everyone, and they all felt extremely peaceful.
Laozi, seeing this, frowned but said nothing. Zhunti, seeing Laozi's frown, quickly chuckled and said, "Everything is ready, except for tomorrow's great battle."
Having given their instructions, Yuanshi Tianzun and his followers rested. At dawn the next day, the disciples lined up and struck the golden bell and jade chime. The four leaders arrived at the Immortal Slaughtering Formation and ordered their attendants, "Report to the Tongtian Sect Leader that we have come to break the formation." The attendants rushed in to report. There, the Tongtian Sect Leader led his disciples out of the Immortal Slaughtering Gate to meet the four leaders. The Tongtian Sect Leader addressed the Daoist Guiding and Daoist Zhunti, saying, "You two are from the Pure Land of the Western Sect; what is your purpose in coming here?"
