A gust of wind brushed past my ear, and the oil lamp in the distance slowly lit up. I saw Hua Cijing sitting half-sitting beside me, his face dark with anger. A blanket suddenly fell from above, covering me completely. Hua Cijing pulled me closer to him, his hand pressed against my ear, and remained still.

The pain has subsided considerably, but perhaps because of the fright, I have no sleepiness at all.

After a while, Hua Cijing's voice came: "Does eating meat cause your stomach to hurt?"

"Um."

Why didn't you say so sooner?

"What do you want me to say? I'm a tiger, even if I'm useless, I'm still a tiger, not a rabbit." I paused, a little sad, before continuing, "No monster respects me. They all call me a sick cat behind my back. It's really strange, why me of all the tigers in this world..."

“Tigers that have cultivated themselves into spirits are very rare,” Hua Cijing suddenly said.

Is this supposed to be a way of comforting me?

"Huh? Come to think of it, I seem to have been a spirit since I can remember. I don't think I've ever cultivated?" I thought back for a moment, a little confused.

Hua Cijing didn't answer for a long time. I crawled out of the quilt and saw that Hua Cijing had fallen asleep with her eyes closed.

I didn't notice that Hua Cijing's hands were slowly clenching under the covers, forming a tight fist.

When I woke up the next day, Hua Cijing was gone. I stood by the bed, and my stomach gave a disapproving growl.

Where did that person go? I looked up, my gaze sweeping across the table, but he couldn't possibly be squatting on it. My gaze moved back, and I saw the table piled high with radishes and cabbages.

I suddenly felt a little touched.

After thinking about it, I realized that continuing like this is actually quite good.

When Hua Cijing returned, I had already eaten and was lying on the deck sunbathing. The big tabby cat squatted beside me, looking at me with its big green cat eyes. As soon as it saw Hua Cijing, it ran away.

This time, Hua Cijing tucked me into his arms. I poked my head out from under his clothes, and Hua Cijing pressed me down.

"Don't stick your head out without my permission."

Just a glance was enough to tell that the two were already in a dense bamboo forest.

Just as he was about to ask why, he heard Hua Cijing coldly shout, "You beast, why aren't you coming out here right now?!"

A deep roar resounded, accompanied by the rustling sound of bamboo trembling wildly.

The sounds of frenzied roars from beasts, the whistling of whips cutting through the air, and the deafening crash of shattering boulders filled the air.

Hua Cijing's body kept swaying, so I had to use my claws to hook onto his inner garment to try and keep myself from falling off. I was very close to him, my ear was right next to his chest, and through the thin fabric, I could feel the warmth on his cheek, and hear his heartbeat clearly.

Hua Cijing probably did a somersault in the air. I quickly grabbed his clothes and pulled hard. But when I pulled hard, I tore open Hua Cijing's inner garment quite a bit. My nose almost touched the exposed snow-white skin.

Lost in thought, I unconsciously loosened my grip. Then, the world spun, and I fell out of Hua Cijing's clothes...

I landed headfirst, rolled twice on the ground, and lay there seeing stars. A huge black shadow loomed over me from above. I slowly looked up, and in my dizziness, I was suddenly startled: Uh? Two huge pancakes...

"Run!" Hua Cijing's voice came from somewhere, filled with anxiety.

Calm yourself down and look up again.

A huge, deep red triangular snake head hovered above my head. The giant red snake hissed and flicked its tongue, looking down at me from above, its head lower and lower.

It was very quiet, and I stared at it foolishly.

The snake lowered its head low enough that its scarlet mouth suddenly opened wide, its sharp fangs like blades, ready to pierce my neck in the next moment.

At the last second, a whip flashed from behind, wrapping around my tail and instantly pulling me from under the giant snake's teeth to safety, even though I was already frozen in fear.

I stood up shakily, then collapsed to the ground, tightly hugging Hua Cijing's legs, tears streaming down my face uncontrollably.

"What a huge monster! Hero Hua! Protect me!"

I was kicked far away by Hua Cijing and rolled under a large rock. I was internally injured, so I quickly hid behind the rock and secretly watched what was happening outside.

Hua Cijing stood there, a smile on his lips, his eyes cold. He slowly raised his right hand, accompanied by a soft chant that flowed from his lips. His moon-white brocade robe fluttered without wind, his sleeves billowed, and his long hair was blown away like a waterfall.

In the bamboo forest, a person and a snake, one red and one white, stand silently facing each other, with lush green bamboo leaves occasionally drifting down from the sky.

I pulled my head back out and pressed it against the rock, panting.

Battle has begun over there.
