"What should we do? Are we going to fight so many Shu people?" I asked.
"Cough cough, even if each of them takes a bite out of us, they'll tear us to pieces. These Shu people don't know pain. They've already treated us as prey, live prey at that. I think they can't wait to eat us!" the old blind man said.
Then he patted my shoulder and said, “Master Liu, you are the reincarnation of Shu Yuan, why don’t you try to command them? After all, you were a great general back then, and these people of Shu had to listen to you.”
"What the hell? You still have the mood to joke around? Old blind man, aren't you supposed to be a diviner? Then tell us whether we'll die this time."
"Alright, now we only have one last gamble. Let's use the last of the pine resin as cover and see if we can break through. The three of us will walk out back to back," Xiang Fei said.
The old blind man and I agreed. Now we had to make one last attempt. We lit the remaining pine resin, threw some down first, and then we ran down and lit the pine resin in our hands little by little and threw it out.
The Shu people immediately surrounded us, but out of fear of the fire, they stayed about two meters away from us, their eyes gleaming with a sinister light as they stared at us like ferocious beasts.
They made strange noises, and I saw some of them drooling, their gaunt faces full of excitement, clearly eager to eat us, their living food.
The pine resin was almost used up, but there were still many people from Sichuan ahead, and those behind were catching up.
I wiped away my cold sweat. "Old blind man, why don't you spend a few more years of your life to uncover the secrets of heaven and use divine punishment to deal with them?"
“Master Liu, you’re really something else. Last time, I risked my life for ten years to save you. Now, how many more years will I have to risk? I’m already sixty this year. How many more years do I have left to risk?”
We threw away the last of the pine resin, and seeing that we had nothing in our hands, the local people immediately surrounded us.
"Let's put it together," Xiang Fei said in a deep voice.
There was no other choice at this point, so I took out my Tang sword and started slashing wildly. A large number of Shu people fell, and Xiang Fei was incredibly fierce. Only the old blind man was holding a dagger and was about to be surrounded by the Shu people, so Xiang Fei and I quickly pulled him out.
"What are you all doing? You all have Tang swords, and I only have a small dagger. How am I supposed to fight with that?" We rushed to a house, quickly opened the door, and jumped inside, hoping to temporarily hold off the Shu people.
But we underestimated the people of Shu and overestimated the house. In an instant, the people of Shu surrounded the house, and with a series of cracking sounds, several large holes were torn in the house, and the people of Shu poured in.
The house started to collapse, and we had to fight for it. The scene was chaotic.

Looking around, I realized I had ended up in the same pavilion where I had seen Xie Xiaoyan last time. Without thinking, I hid inside. I was too exhausted to move. I finished the rest of my water and lay on the ground, panting heavily.
The situation is getting worse and worse. Now I've gotten separated from them again and I'm all alone in this godforsaken place. I don't even know if I can escape.
After resting for a while, I stood up and went up to the attic. Everything here was the same. I walked to the portrait and looked at Xie Xiaoyan in the painting. A strange feeling rose in my heart. "Where are you now?"
A cold wind swept in, lifting the thin curtains on the windowsill. In a daze, I seemed to see a figure appear before me, and my thoughts became somewhat chaotic.
"Hehe," a voice suddenly rang out from behind.
I quickly turned around and saw a woman in red sitting by the zither table. From her back, I could tell that she was the same woman in red I had seen in the palace earlier.

My scalp immediately tingled, and my heart pounded. "You...you...who are you?"
"Giggle," the female corpse let out a charming laugh, then slowly turned around. Who else could it be but that female corpse? At this moment, she wore an eerie and inexplicable smile, staring straight at me.
Then she stood up and approached me step by step, "Hehe... Shu Yuan, don't you recognize me?"
"I...I, I don't know you," I said, backing away. "Don't come any closer, or don't blame me for being impolite."
"Oh, how could you do this to me? We should have been a couple back then, but fate played a cruel trick on us. In the end, I married someone else, and you were framed and killed. But do you know, all these years I have been waiting for you, hoping for your return. Shu Yuan, come with me, okay?" The red-clad female corpse stretched out her hand to me with a face full of sorrow.
My teeth are chattering. Are you kidding me? You're asking me to follow a female corpse? I'd be lucky to survive.
I quickly used a Yin-Yang talisman to strike, but the female corpse was not afraid at all and continued to walk towards me.
In a moment of desperation, I grabbed my Tang sword and slashed at her. The female corpse quickly pulled her hand back, and I took the opportunity to jump to the top of the stairs. I used my last bit of strength to run down the stairs, tumbling and crawling out of the attic. I struggled to run forward, and when I looked back, I saw that the red-clad female corpse had actually caught up with me.
I was terrified, but luckily the fog rolled back into the ghost town. I quickly hid in the fog, held my breath, and moved forward slowly.
