Those like Jieyin and Zhunti comprehended 24,000 scrolls of Western Dharma teachings. (There was some error in the previous text; Hongjun stated there were 3,600 Great Daos and 800 Side Daos. Jieyin and Zhunti comprehended the 24,000 scrolls of Western Dharma teachings from the 800 Side Daos. This is a correction.) Jieyin's Primordial Spirit Relic Technique and Zhunti's Golden Body Technique are both incredibly powerful supernatural abilities. Furthermore, Hongyun possesses the art of refining the soul; Kunpeng wields Heavenly Demon Divine Thunder, comparable to the Three Pure Ones' Divine Thunder; and Zhen Yuanzi has comprehended the technique of "Universe Within the Sleeve."
Others may know a little about this kind of spatial technique, but it can never compare to the power used by Zhen Yuanzi himself. This is a very natural phenomenon in the world of gods and demons. No matter how high one's aptitude or how hard one cultivates, if one practices someone else's magic or supernatural power, one's achievements will never be as good as those of the person who has truly comprehended it. It seems to be like a kind of copyright.
When Hongjun preached, he spoke of the essence of the Great Dao. Whether it was the three thousand Great Daos or the eight hundred side sects, what Hongjun spoke of were not direct Daoist techniques or supernatural abilities. Instead, he transformed them into the meaning of the Dao, leaving it entirely to the listener to comprehend on their own.
Only Hongjun possessed this method. Other saints, such as Xuantian, recorded all of Hongjun's teachings on the Great Dao, but they were unable to reproduce it for their disciples. At most, they could only barely transform their own comprehended Dao techniques and supernatural powers into "Dao" and explain it to their disciples. This kind of teaching was far inferior to the Dao taught by Hongjun, and even less was comprehended by the disciples themselves. This is why the cultivators in the lower realms became weaker with each generation.
Therefore, there's a saying among cultivators: "Only one's own path is truly the most suitable for oneself." This isn't pretentious; it's simply the truth. No matter who you are, even a disciple of a sage who directly comprehends the path taught by the sage will ultimately fall short, their foundation being weaker than the sage's. The same applies to others. Those who listened to the Dao in Zixiao Palace were arguably the most fortunate in the world, able to directly comprehend the Dao from Hongjun's teachings. After all, what Hongjun spoke of was the essence of the Great Dao, the most complete Dao. Even the "Universe in the Sleeve" technique was passed down by Zhen Yuanzi after his own comprehension. Others merely built upon Zhen Yuanzi's foundation, and their comprehension naturally falls short of Zhen Yuanzi's.
Turning back, after Yunxiao was released by Xuantian, he was somewhat confused.
This is a side effect of the "Sleeve Universe" technique. If Zhen Yuanzi's original "Sleeve Universe" were used, those who entered would be as if they were in Zhen Yuanzi's world, and their lives would be controlled by Zhen Yuanzi.
After a while, Yunxiao regained consciousness and looked up to see Xuantian smiling at her. She quickly stood up, bowed, and said, "Yunxiao, a disciple of the Jie Sect, greets her senior uncle."
Xuan Tian laughed and said, "No need for formalities. Your master, Tongtian Jiaozhu, and I are both Pangu and fellow disciples. You are my junior disciple. Please make yourself at home on Penglai Island." With that, he waved his hand to help Yunxiao up.
Upon hearing this, Yunxiao felt a pang of emotion: of the seven sages since the beginning of time, the one who was easiest to talk to was undoubtedly the sage before him, but the one who was the most difficult to talk to was also this sage master before him.
As soon as Yunxiao stood up, he heard someone shout, "Master is back! Disciple pays respects to Master." Yunxiao turned around and saw that it was Huixin and the other three.
The island of Penglai is protected by numerous restrictive formations set up by Xuan Tian. Only those who possess the unique characteristics of Penglai Island's martial arts can travel safely through most parts of the island. There are also some areas that no one else can enter without Xuan Tian's permission.
Today, Xuan Tian has returned. As the master of Penglai, the island's restrictive formations will naturally not block him. However, after releasing Yun Xiao, the detection methods covering the formations will issue a warning. Once the warning is issued, if Yun Xiao acts on his own before his identity is confirmed by the people of Penglai Island, he will be mercilessly attacked by the formations until he is dead. Only after the warning is issued and he receives confirmation from the person supervising the formations on the island that day can he move. Moreover, he needs to be led by someone from the islands. Otherwise, if he accidentally enters some special formations, even if Yun Xiao has the cultivation of a Great Luo Golden Immortal, he will not be able to survive.
Previously, Xuan Tian's return to the island would not have triggered any warnings from the array. However, once Yun Xiao was released, he was monitored by the array. It was only after the person in charge of the array that day informed Hui Xin and the others that several people arrived.
Seeing the four people kneeling on the ground, Xuan Tian was quite pleased. Although he was from a later era and had a somewhat carefree personality, he wasn't too strict about etiquette. However, this was a common problem for people from later eras. Xuan Tian wouldn't act like other transmigrators and fool around with his disciples like a bunch of children. He himself came from a gang with underworld characteristics, and the positions of the boss and the henchmen in the gang were naturally very clear. This wasn't because he was old-fashioned, but because in Xuan Tian's view, if the leader and his subordinates in a group messed around recklessly, then that group would not be strong.
Therefore, a semi-military management system is implemented on Penglai Island. Most of the island's inhabitants cultivate during the week, but different people take turns on duty each day. When it's their turn, these people closely monitor everything on Penglai Island. After their shift, they return to their normal lives. The island's inhabitants have become accustomed to this system. They either cultivate or live like mortals on weekdays, but when it's their turn to be on duty, everyone becomes ruthless and cold-blooded, performing their tasks like robots.
Xuan Tian wanted exactly this effect: to be mindful of danger even in times of peace. Although Penglai Island, as a sacred place of saints, would not be foolish enough to enter and do anything unless someone's head was swollen with bloodlust, Xuan Tian did not want the creatures on his island to lose their vigilance because they had always lived under the protection of Penglai Island. The primordial world was too chaotic, and there would not always be peaceful days in the world of gods and demons. If they lost their vigilance, then death would not be far away.
