Just as we were racking our brains trying to figure it out, the cold wind suddenly became even stronger. To our horror, we discovered that in the howling wind, a flood of dark shadows appeared and surged in.
Seeing this situation, we had only one thought: to run.
The mysterious figure also ran over, and quickly overtook me. In that instant, I activated my tactical weapon, and a blinding light flashed across his body.
"Blackie!" I exclaimed in shock. Although I only saw a side profile, I was absolutely certain that this was Blackie, except that he was very pale and much thinner than before.
'Blackie' didn't answer me and ran into the darkness.
The army of ghost soldiers swept in from behind. Xiang Fei and I used every ounce of strength we had. If we were swept into the torrent of ghostly winds formed by this army of ghost soldiers, we would be crippled if we didn't die.
This is pure Yin energy. If a living person is caught in it, the Yin energy will corrode their body, turning them into a true 'Yin person'.
After crossing the bridge, we crawled into the rock passage, grabbed the iron chains, and climbed down. The eerie wind behind us finally subsided and slowly disappeared. Xiang Fei and I breathed a sigh of relief. We looked around but couldn't find Hei Ye. I had been to this place before, so I wasn't surprised. Xiang Fei, however, looked astonished. "Judging from the scale, this should also be a main tomb. It seems there are many people who want to become immortal."
The ancient Shu people were a tribe that worshipped the Shu Immortals. They believed that immortals existed in the world, just like in many myths and legends. The Shu Immortals were said to have boundless magical power, be omnipotent, and be immortal.
The corpse bats were startled awake and spread their wings, flitting about inside. Whether it was due to being corrupted by the eerie wind or something else, they all became disoriented and their bodies bumped into the hanging coffin.
These hanging coffins were already decayed, and any force could have caused them to fall. Now, with these corpse bats crashing into them, they collapsed like a landslide, rumbling down from top to bottom.
Xiang Fei and I were both stunned, and we didn't react for a moment.
When they came to their senses, they shone their headlamps on the coffins below and were immediately chilled to the bone. Among the dilapidated hanging coffins, there were mummified corpses, much like the ones they had seen when they came in.
Hundreds and thousands of hanging coffins were piled up together, just like a mass grave. The mummified corpses inside were tattered and torn, and the entire space was filled with a putrid stench.
After a while, the collapsing hanging coffin finally stopped. Xiang Fei and I looked at each other in dismay. We could say that we were indirectly responsible for this situation.
We climbed down, gripping the iron chains, walking among the broken coffins and the mummified corpses, cold sweat pouring down our faces.
With a loud 'bang,' a hanging coffin that hadn't fallen before suddenly dropped, landing squarely on Xiang Fei. Fortunately, the coffin was already decayed, and Xiang Fei easily pierced through it.
I was startled and quickly shone my headlamp on him to see if he was alright, but I was so frightened that my body almost went limp. The corpse in the hanging coffin was crawling on his body, as if Xiang Fei was carrying a corpse on his back.
For some unknown reason, the corpse was remarkably well-preserved, with viscous liquid dripping from it. Upon closer inspection, it was a female corpse with a frighteningly pale face and wide-open eyes staring at Xiang Fei's neck.
I was so frightened that I stammered, "Xiang... Xiang Fei, you... on... his back," I said, pointing to his back.
"What?" Xiang Fei seemed oblivious to the strangeness behind him, looking at me with a puzzled expression.
"Could it be that he was stunned by that hit just now?" I thought to myself, and used the light to look for him. But as soon as I looked, I clearly saw the corpse on his back giving me a strange smile.
"Oh my god!" I felt a chill run down my spine.
"What's wrong with you, Xiao Liu?" Xiang Fei still looked confused as he walked towards me.
I swallowed hard, trying to suppress my fear. "Xiang Fei, there's a corpse on your back...it's a ghost."
After I explained, Xiang Fei seemed to understand perfectly, but... instead of what I expected, he gave me a meaningful smile and said, "Is that so?"
His smile grew increasingly eerie as he walked towards me. I shone my headlamp on his face and saw that his complexion was black and his eyes were so strange. Then, his face began to rot and peel off, all while he was still wearing that ambiguous smile as he walked towards me.
"A ghost!" I yelled and ran for my life. Luckily, I had been here before and knew where the exit was, so I ran straight towards it. "Xiang Fei" chased after me.
The explosive power I displayed at that moment was unbelievable even to myself. I actually climbed up the stone wall with my bare hands and ran into the cave without even taking a breath.
As soon as I entered, I hadn't run far when a hand reached out from the shadows and grabbed me. Before I could resist, a hand covered my mouth. I looked closely and saw that it was the black cat.
"Shh," the black cat gestured for silence and turned off my headlamp. "Don't make a sound. There's a thousand-year-old vengeful ghost in this place, and it's already haunting us."
A cold wind howled, and the black cat and I held our breath and hid in a corner. I could temporarily see things in the dark using Yin-Yang techniques, and the black cat was naturally able to as well. After a while, faint sounds came from the darkness, a sound that was indescribably strange.
"Hehe... You can't escape. I will kill you one by one." A dark figure appeared at the cave entrance, seemingly peering inside. It hesitated and lingered there for a while, but it seemed to be worried about something and turned back.
