Pastor (1)

The chief priest wore a tall helmet, beautifully adorned with various brightly colored feathers and fabrics. His chest was bare except for a shawl hanging from his collarbone, which was studded with finely polished jewels and precious metals. His lower body was covered by a skirt that first wrapped around him like an apron, then extended into two long skirts that stretched from between his legs to below his knees.

Aside from a crude sacrificial dagger that appeared to be made of obsidian, he had no other weapons. Yet he still felt he was the most dangerous opponent he had ever encountered.

The priest began speaking in a language the Monkey King couldn't understand. Nevertheless, the latter's nerves remained taut; every sense he had honed to this level was pushed to its limit. This pressure even caused blood vessels in his eyes to rupture, turning the whites of his eyes red.

Without hesitation, the Monkey King launched another Atlas dart. This time, he used even more force, pulling it back with as much as 50% of his strength.

Out of habit, he didn't go all out on his first attack because the priest's physical attributes were too low. But now he knew this was no ordinary enemy.

Seeing his attempt to communicate fail, the priest frowned and raised his dagger again. But this time, he pointed it at the Monkey King and calmly chanted.

The naked young woman, bound to the table, stared blankly, her gaze momentarily filled with terror before becoming vacant. She seemed to believe that, no matter how it all ended, her fate was sealed.

The Monkey King's spear shattered an invisible barrier once more, but this time he could vaguely sense it solidifying. This sensation wasn't as acute as his senses of touch, sight, or hearing, but it was there nonetheless.

"Sixth sense,"

Suddenly, the Monkey King lay down with lightning speed. A moment later, a loud bang shook the walls of the sacrificial chamber, leaving a deep impact.

The Monkey King jumped onto the vehicle, bumped into another dart, and dashed to the side, cold sweat pouring down his back.

?

He lunged forward, his arm sliding horizontally through the air, causing another dart to whistle past with a sharp sound.

Damn, I thought I only needed to fight normal people in this place. Is it possible that ancient humans also discovered these awakened abilities? Or perhaps these dimensional spaces aren't as historically accurate as I initially thought?

[An anomaly detected… Recalculating…]

[It is recommended that subject Leonel Morales complete this mission with at least three other people. Subject's D-level ability is too low.]

For a moment, the Monkey King almost forgot his anger towards the priest. He just wanted to throw that broken watch over the wall until it broke. How could this be considered a system? What could it be but a bunch of junk?

It didn't tell him he should join a four-person party, only telling him when it was too late. It didn't tell him what the side quests were, only telling him after he had completed them. And it couldn't even get the correct level for this dimensional region. What utter nonsense.

Forget it! Focus.

The Monkey King's father's will told him that his father had to suppress his awakening when he was young. What if others besides him had experienced this as well? The only problem with this theory is that his father also said his constitution was different from others... but who can say that no one else was like him?

The Monkey King's dart was blocked once again, but his keen senses detected that the priest was forced to retreat, albeit slightly.

?

The Monkey King performed a somersault, using centrifugal force to land on both feet without losing a single dart on his back.

I only have 47 darts left. If I don't see any results by the time I'm 25, I'll need to take a risk and go further.

The Monkey King perfectly preserved his strength, never using more than 50%. He realized that the priest relied entirely on his strange energy. The elderly man made no large movements. Apart from occasionally shifting his feet towards the Monkey King and raising his arms, he did nothing else.

This can't go on forever; I don't believe he can do this forever.

Suddenly, the Monkey King felt a strong sense of danger coming from his back.

He immediately realized his mistake. He dodged the priest's final blow, but he didn't hear the loud thud in his back that he always did. He hadn't considered the possibility that the priest could control the trajectory of his attack!

The Monkey King managed to dodge in time, but his long dart bag was not spared.

The sound of wood cracking accompanied the Monkey King's ugly expression. And so, his remaining 40-odd strange darts were shattered into pieces, leaving behind a priest with an ugly, yellow-toothed grin.
