I looked at it and said, "The entrance to the tomb should be at the end of that river, which is where the dragon's head is."
Xiang Fei nodded in agreement, "This should be a typical method of dragon burial, meaning that one will ascend to immortality after death."
"Do you remember what Blackie said?"
I nodded. "What, do you mean there really is 'immortality' inside?"
Xiang Fei remained silent for a moment, then sighed and said, "Who knows? There is no such thing as immortality in this world. When a person dies, it's like a lamp going out. This is the law of heaven and earth, a natural law. No one can live forever. Back then, Qin Shi Huang dreamed of immortality and devoted the entire nation's resources to finding a way to achieve it, but in the end, it was all for naught."
I nodded in agreement. The sun was already high in the sky, and the bright sunlight was shining down. However, we were both puzzled as to why there was still the sun if this place had been hidden by a master with unparalleled skills.
Looking at the time, Xiang Fei said, "It's about time, let's get started."
The three of them went down the river. Just in case, Xiang Fei also brought two large-caliber hunting rifles and two ancient-style broadswords, which, judging from their style, should be Tang swords.
Secretly surprised, Xiang Fei's skills were truly remarkable. Putting aside the hunting rifle, these two Tang swords were genuine Tang swords, not imitations from later generations. The cold blades exuded a chilling aura, indicating that these swords had definitely killed people, and not just one or two.
Xiang Fei and I each had a gun and a knife. As for Black Cat, according to Xiang Fei, he disdained using these things. He himself was a deadly weapon. When I asked him why, Xiang Fei just chuckled and said that I would have the chance to see it for myself.
It took us a full hour to reach the end of the river, which is the dragon's head. Below it is a huge cave, and the river flows into it.
At the entrance to the cave, a thick iron chain runs through the rock and extends into the cave.
Xiang Fei took the lead, grabbing the iron chain and going downstream with the water, followed by the black cat, and I was at the very end.
The cave was very deep. As we descended with the water, darkness gradually enveloped us. We turned on our special mining lamps to illuminate the surroundings. The rock walls clearly showed signs of human excavation, which made me nervous. This was my first time robbing a tomb. I had only heard about it from my grandfather and Uncle Hei before. According to the rules of my ancestors, feng shui masters usually only search for tombs; tomb robbing was not something we did.
The water flow began to accelerate, and suddenly it plunged down, forming a waterfall, with the iron chain disappearing below.
"Be careful," Xiang Fei said, slowly climbing down.
Below the waterfall, there is an underground river, into which iron chains extend.
Xiang Fei tied a rope around himself and said, "I'll go down first and scout the way. If everything goes smoothly, you can come in."
He jumped into the water, and soon the rope stopped. He tugged at the other end, clearly having found a way out.
Black Cat and I jumped in too. Luckily, I'm a good diver, otherwise it would have been really difficult to get across. When we got to the shore, Xiang Fei was already preparing things.
Looking around, I discovered that it was a huge cave with signs of human excavation. Right in front of the cave, there was a staircase made of stone slabs, which, needless to say, led to the entrance to the tomb.
Xiang Fei and I both swallowed hard. The legendary ancient Shu people's tomb was about to appear. This was the first time in thousands of years that someone had entered it.
The black cat remained cold and aloof, but his gaze held a new intensity. In the darkness, his eyes gleamed even brighter, making them visible even without any light.
At this moment, Xiang Fei took out a packet of black stuff, which looked like black mud, and told us to smear it on our faces and bodies. The black mud gave off a strange smell, and after smelling it, I felt a little nauseous. "What's in this?"
Xiang Fei chuckled, “There’s corpse oil and black dog blood.”
I felt nauseous, but I still smeared it on my face. According to Xiang Fei, if you smear this stuff on your body, ordinary ghosts won't be able to detect you, unless it's an extremely powerful or evil ghost.
So the three of us smeared ourselves black. If there was no light, and we just stood there in the dark, no one could see us. Even a black cat probably couldn't see us.
After checking our equipment, we stepped onto the stone path. The path was long, with at least fifty steps, and when we reached the end, we were stunned by what we saw before us.
Eighteen Dragon Veins (2)
This was a vast hall, built in the mountains, its golden splendor shimmering brilliantly under the lights. It resembled a tribal settlement, everything still intact, seemingly asleep, utterly silent. Xiang Fei and I could both hear our own heartbeats.
After calming ourselves down, the three of us went inside. It was like an underground kingdom, with all kinds of shops lining both sides of the street. Although countless years had passed, there wasn't a speck of dust on the ground, as if someone was cleaning it regularly. Could it be that people still lived inside?
The surroundings were incredibly quiet. The three of us tried to walk as quietly as possible. When the light shone on us, I noticed an inn not far ahead. The signboard at the entrance clearly displayed several ancient characters, resembling ancient script, which I certainly couldn't understand.
Xiang Fei smiled and said, "This is Rongji Inn. Why don't we go in and have a seat?"
"Ahem, I think we should skip it. This place is strangely eerie, so we should be careful."
As we were talking, a sound suddenly came from the inn, as if something had fallen to the ground.
The three of us looked at each other, and Xiang Fei gestured for us to go inside.
I didn't want to go in at first, but then I thought that since I've come all this way, I should be prepared to encounter ghosts. After all, I'm a feng shui master, and it would be embarrassing if I were afraid of this.
