The White Crane Boy could have used the Jade Purity Immortal Light to protect himself, as well as Jiang Ziya and Shen Gongbao. However, in order to retaliate against Jiang Ziya and Shen Gongbao for disturbing his cultivation, the White Crane Boy deliberately did not use the protective immortal light and instead flew in his original form, to show that he had forgotten to use the immortal light to protect Jiang Ziya and Shen Gongbao.
Before long, the White Crane Boy brought Jiang Ziya and Shen Gongbao to the entrance of the Jade Void Palace. He told them to wait at the door while he went in to announce their arrival.
After entering the main hall, the White Crane Boy saw that the Primordial Celestial Venerable's sermon was not yet over. Firstly, he dared not disturb the sermon; secondly, he wanted the two others to stand a little longer. So he quietly walked behind the Primordial Celestial Venerable and stood there to continue listening to the sermon.
Jiang Ziya and Shen Gongbao stood at the entrance of the main hall. Hearing the mysterious sermons coming from inside, they couldn't help but look into the hall.
On either side of the main hall, dozens of immortals, their heads adorned with three flowers, listened to the sermon. In the center of the hall sat a dignified Taoist with a broad face and thick eyebrows, exuding an air of authority.
A cloud the size of an acre of land appeared above the Taoist priest, upon which thousands of golden flowers bloomed, adorned with tassels and pearls, flowing endlessly like water dripping from the eaves. Golden flowers fell from the sky, and golden lotuses bloomed on the ground. Mysterious sounds emanated from the Taoist priest's mouth, captivating all who heard them.
Jiang Ziya and Shen Gongbao listened to the mysterious sound, becoming more and more engrossed. They wished they could go inside and sit down to listen to the lecture, but they dared not disturb the immortal master's sermon, so they could only wait outside the hall.
Jiang Ziya and his companion were impatiently waiting for the Taoist priest to finish his sermon. Hearing that the immortal master had finished, they knew he would soon call them in. They began to tidy their clothes, which had been disheveled by the strong winds on their way here, but which they hadn't had time to straighten because they were so engrossed in the sermon.
After Yuanshi Tianzun finished his sermon, he said to Baihe Tongzi, "Go and bring those two people in." Baihe Tongzi agreed and went out to call Jiang Ziya and Shen Gongbao.
Just as Jiang Ziya and Shen Gongbao finished tidying their clothes, the celestial boy who had brought them there came out.
Shen Gongbao, speaking before Jiang Ziya, asked, "Young immortal, has the immortal master allowed us to enter?" The White Crane Boy replied, "The sect leader has granted you permission to enter." He turned to leave, then turned back and said, "The sect leader is of esteemed status; you must not be disrespectful once inside the hall." Jiang Ziya and the other nodded in agreement, thinking to themselves, "We've come to become disciples, so naturally we won't be rude to the immortal master. However, when the immortal master lectures, so many people listen; this immortal master's status must indeed be very high." Jiang Ziya and the other silently followed... The white crane attendant arrived at the main hall and bowed to Yuanshi Tianzun, who was seated on a sandalwood carriage, saying, "Disciple Jiang Ziya (Shen Gongbao) greets the Immortal Master. I hope the Immortal Master will accept me." At this moment, Yuanshi looked at the two below with some strangeness. Both of them possessed the appearance of a flying bear (Jiang Ziya was real, and Shen Gongbao was a bear spirit who attained enlightenment). Yuanshi did not know what it meant to possess the "appearance of a flying bear." Since the two had come together this time, he thought it better to kill a thousand innocent people than let one guilty person go free. He decided to accept them both and see for himself when the Investiture of the Gods was issued.
After thinking it over, Yuanshi Tianzun said to Jiang Ziya and Shen Gongbao, "You two are destined to be disciples of my Chan Sect. You should become my second-generation disciples." Jiang Ziya and Shen Gongbao were overjoyed and quickly performed the three bows and nine kowtows, saying, "Disciples greet Master." Yuanshi Tianzun said, "You will learn the sect's doctrines and rules later. Now, follow Antarctic Immortal to learn the introductory Daoist methods. Antarctic Immortal, take your two junior brothers down first." "Yes," Antarctic Immortal replied. Then, Antarctic Immortal walked to Jiang Ziya and Shen Gongbao and said, "My two junior brothers, come with me." Jiang Ziya and Shen Gongbao followed Antarctic Immortal out of the main hall to the residence of the second-generation disciples.
After settling in, the Antarctic Immortal took out a copy of the Jade Purity Immortal Manual from his robes and said to Jiang Ziya and the other man, "You two can cultivate here first. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me anytime." After saying that, he turned to leave.
Seeing this, Shen Gongbao quickly grabbed the Antarctic Immortal and said, "Senior Brother, please wait a moment. I have some questions I'm unsure whether I should ask." The Antarctic Immortal smiled and said, "Junior Brother, speak freely, there's no need to hold back." Shen Gongbao hesitated for a moment and said, "Does Senior Brother know anyone of the Jie Sect?" The Antarctic Immortal asked curiously, "Why does Junior Brother ask about the Jie Sect?" Shen Gongbao said, "When my junior brother Jiang Ziya and I were searching for immortals in the mortal realm, we heard that besides the Chan Sect, there was another sect called the Jie Sect. I'm quite curious, what kind of sect is the Jie Sect?" The Antarctic Immortal smiled and said, "I see. The Jie Sect was founded by the Tongtian Sect Master, the junior brother of the Primordial Lord. It advocates teaching without discrimination, and many of its disciples are demons and other strange beings who have attained enlightenment. Although they possess some magical abilities, they are not very useful and cannot compare to my Chan Sect. Junior Brother? Master Primordial Lord has a junior brother?" Jiang Ziya asked.
The Antarctic Immortal was quite kind-hearted. Seeing their lack of understanding, he explained these common facts and anecdotes to them. "It is said that after the great god Pangu created the world, his body split into sixteen people. His head became Pangu Xuantian Saint, who now resides on Penglai Island in the East Sea; his primordial spirit split into three people: Taishang Laojun, the leader of the Taiqing Human Sect, also known as Laozi, who now resides in Taichi Heaven beyond the Thirty-Three Heavens; Yuanshi Tianzun, the leader of the Yuqing Chan Sect, who is also our teacher, and resides on Kunlun Mountain; and Tongtian Saint, the leader of the Shangqing Jie Sect, who now resides on Jin'ao Island in the East Sea. His essence and blood split into twelve people, who were the famous Ancestral Witches of ancient times. Later, the Ancestral Witch Houtu reincarnated, while the other Ancestral Witches perished in the War of the Witches and Demons. So why have we never heard of people from Penglai Island walking among humans?" Shen Gongbao asked, seemingly very curious about these things.
"Since the last Kunlun Dao Discussion, the Sage Pangu has not left the island, and the disciples of Penglai Island are all cultivating on Penglai Island; the Supreme Lord Lao of the Human Sect is also cultivating in Taichi Heaven. Among the human race, only the disciples of my Chan Sect and Jie Sect are traveling, so you are unaware of these things," said the Antarctic Immortal.
