The two people sitting in the four or five seats are a man and a woman, both with human heads and snake bodies; they are Nuwa and Fuxi.
Seated among the six or seven future demon masters, Kunpeng, and the benevolent old man of the primordial world, Hongyun, were Zhenyuanzi, known as the peerless ruler, Donghuang Taiyi, and Dijun, among other current masters and powerful figures of the primordial world. Upon Xuantian's arrival, each observed him. Hongyun and Zhenyuanzi intended to forge a good relationship with Xuantian, while Donghuang Taiyi sought to recruit him into their ranks. The others each had their own plans, which will not be discussed here.
Xuan Tian ignored everyone and casually found a spot to sit down. People gradually entered, and suddenly two more people came in. One looked distressed, as if recovering from a serious illness; he was sixteen feet tall, his face contorted with suffering, and a pagoda-like structure atop his head, radiating light—this was the Western Guide. The other had a square face and large ears, a benevolent appearance, and a verdant Bodhi tree with golden blossoms above his head—this was the Western Zhunti. Seeing there was no place to sit, Zhunti burst into tears: "It's all my fault, senior brother! I was too slow. The West is barren, and we arrived early, exhausted, yet we still have nowhere to sit. I'm so sorry..." The Guide was also trying to comfort Zhunti, his face filled with such sorrow that it was heartbreaking to see. Suddenly, Hongyun stood up and offered his seat to Zhunti. Zhunti's expression immediately brightened, and he thanked Hongyun repeatedly. He sat down, and seeing that the Guide had no seat, he said to the Kunpeng beside him: "You, a mere beast, dare to sit here? Get up!" "Don't make me do it." With that, he raised the Seven Treasures Tree in his hand again, as if to strike. Yuanshi, who already disliked Kunpeng, chimed in when someone suggested it. Kunpeng, seeing that they outnumbered him and he was no match for them, angrily got up and walked to the back, his eyes filled with malice as he looked at Hongyun. Unfortunately, Hongyun didn't see it. Xuantian thought to himself, "Perhaps this is where their karma began."
Suddenly, a figure appeared on Hongjun's futon, expressionless. He glanced at the crowd below and saw that no one was making a sound. Then, he prepared to preach.
Suddenly, someone said, "Ancestor Hongjun, I have come all the way to the Thirty-Three Heavens to listen to the Dao, how can you not give me a seat?" The crowd immediately erupted in commotion. Who was this person who dared to be so bold?
Jiu Hongjun preaches in the Purple Palace
Upon hearing this, everyone present was shocked. How dare this person speak to Hongjun like that? They all looked towards the source of the voice and saw Xuan Tian, who had previously attracted their attention. Xuan Tian stood under a tree in the courtyard, showing no fear on his face; on the contrary, a slight smile played on his lips. Seeing his arrogance, everyone felt sorry for him. Donghuang and Dijun, who had previously intended to win him over, abandoned their plans. Some who had greeted Xuan Tian earlier turned their faces away, afraid of being misunderstood as having any connection with him. Hongyun, truly a kind-hearted person, had his face filled with anxiety. He intended to plead with the ancestor for Xuan Tian, but was stopped by Zhen Yuanzi beside him. The ancestral witch Houtu, sitting in the back, also looked anxiously at Xuan Tian.
"How can Xuan Tian be so arrogant? This Ancestor Hongjun is a sage. When he attained sainthood, the primordial world trembled, and all living beings worshipped him. Even we, the Ancestral Witches, struggled greatly to barely withstand the sage's oppressive aura. And this was merely an unconscious outburst from the sage's attainment, not an intentional confrontation. This shows the unfathomable power of a sage. This Xuan Tian is truly ungrateful. If Ancestor Hongjun were to become angry and destroy Xuan Tian, it would be extremely disastrous. Xuan Tian is the transformed head of Pangu, the Father God, and has a great connection to our Witch Clan. We cannot watch him suffer. Even if it means offending the Ancestor, we must plead for him." "Our Wu tribe doesn't cultivate the primordial spirit, so we don't necessarily need to listen to this sage's sermons. Perhaps Ancestor Hongjun will spare him this time because he was transformed from Pangu's head." Houtu thought to herself, and stood up to say to Hongjun, "Ancestor, please don't blame him. He is Xuantian Daoist from the Xuantian Cave on Mount Buzhou, transformed from Pangu's head. He has been diligently cultivating and is ignorant of external principles. In addition, he is straightforward and unintentionally offended you. Please forgive his disrespect for the sake of Pangu creating heaven and earth and creating all things." Houtu was unaware that Xuantian had moved to Penglai Island and thought he was still on Mount Buzhou.
Hongjun had noticed Xuantian the moment he spoke. At first, when Hongjun saw Xuantian, he was astonished that he couldn't discern Xuantian's true form. After becoming a saint, he knew everything in the world and understood everything he had seen, yet today he couldn't see Xuantian's true form. He even tried to divine with his saintly cultivation, but the heavenly secrets remained unclear. Only after hearing Houtu's words did he understand. However, he was still puzzled. The Three Pure Ones were also transformed from Pangu's primordial spirit, yet he could see them clearly. Why couldn't he see Xuantian? But Houtu pleaded for him, and the surrounding crowd was waiting for him to preach. Hongjun put aside his doubts and decided to talk about it later. "You are transformed from Pangu's head, so there should be one of you." After saying this, he pointed, and a futon appeared in front of the Three Pure Ones' seats.
The Three Pure Ones were also greatly shocked. They had sensed something strong when they entered Xuan Tian earlier, but they couldn't see Xuan Tian clearly. When they heard what Hou Tu said, their hearts were suddenly filled with a huge wave of shock, and their minds trembled with unease.
Xuan Tian hadn't expected Hou Tu to plead for him, and he was deeply moved. His earlier request for a seat from Hong Jun had several reasons. First, it was to acknowledge Hong Jun's presence, essentially registering his identity. This was crucial; otherwise, Hong Jun might ignore him, which would severely hinder his chance to obtain the Primordial Purple Qi—the key to sainthood. Second, he wanted to gauge the attitudes of everyone in Zixiao Palace, discerning who was worth befriending and who wasn't. After asking his question, everyone's expressions became clear, and he had already secretly noted them down for future consideration. Third, he knew Hong Jun wouldn't kill or punish him; he still had a trump card to play.
