Xuan Tian was envious when he saw the disciples Tong Tian had brought. Damn, he had nearly twenty direct disciples, and each of them was quite skilled, all above the Taiyi True Immortal level. There were also many other disciples with high cultivation levels. Xuan Tian looked at the disciples behind Yuan Shi and couldn't help but think that if Tong Tian had been more ruthless during the Investiture of the Gods and had sent his disciples to fight Yuan Shi's disciples, the Chan Sect would most likely have been the one destroyed.
Xuan Tian smiled and said, "Junior Brother has quite a few good disciples."
Tongtian had already seen that the disciples of Xuantian Sect were highly skilled, especially Huixin and Liaozhen, who had actually achieved the quasi-saint level by severing one of their corpses. He admired them greatly. Although there weren't many people in Xuantian Sect, they were all experts. Even Cangjie, who had only been a disciple for a few decades, was already a Great Luo Golden Immortal. He knew the three disciples of Xuantian Sect very well. Huixin and her brother had only cultivated for a few thousand years, yet they had already achieved the quasi-saint level. Cangjie was even more remarkable; he was likely to achieve the quasi-saint level in another hundred years.
Cangjie's creation of characters revealed the secrets of heaven and earth, making him a super-potential asset. From then on, any merit related to writing would be attributed to Cangjie; various sects and forces wishing to spread virtue and teach would inevitably rely on the convenience of writing, and thus would have to give Cangjie a share of the credit. If someone wrote a book, because it used characters created by Cangjie, they would all honor Cangjie as their teacher and share in the merit and benefits. Furthermore, Cangjie's self-realization of great supernatural powers through writing, in a sense, laid the foundation for establishing a religion; given the special nature of writing, its influence would only grow stronger over time.
The three Pure Ones were all extremely envious, but they couldn't find any fault with it. However, Laozi secretly resented that Huixin and Liaozhen's status as Quasi-Saints was obtained from his merit in establishing the Human Emperor.
Tongtian laughed and said, "Senior brother, you flatter me. My worthless disciples are no match for your disciples, who are all of high moral character and excellent aptitude." Although he said this, he nodded to his disciples. He brought so many disciples here to show off. Yuanshi had said that his disciples were not good, but unexpectedly, his disciples were all quite good. In particular, his personal disciples, such as Duobao, Yunxiao, Wudang, and Guiling, had the cultivation of Great Luo True Immortals, which was quite impressive.
Suddenly a boy entered the hall and said, "Master, the two leaders of the Western Sect have arrived."
Just as he finished speaking, Zhunti's voice arrived, "Excellent, excellent, the two senior brothers' gathering to discuss the Dao is truly a great merit." Zhunti and Jieyin from the West arrived with several Taiyi Golden Immortal level disciples. Their flattery skills had improved. After greeting the others, they saw that Xuantian had also arrived and immediately walked towards him.
"How have you been lately, Senior Brother?" Jieyin asked.
"I've been well, thank you for your concern, Junior Brother." Xuan Tian thought to himself, what's the meaning of this, you two? Why are you being so close to me?
"We both benefited greatly from our previous discussion on the Dharma with you, Senior Brother. After this Dharma discussion, we would be grateful if you would do us the honor of joining us on a trip to the West, so that we can show some hospitality and treat you well," Zhunti said to Xuantian with a beaming smile.
"Junior brother, you're overthinking it. When we discuss the Dharma, we benefit from each other and owe each other nothing. There's no need to talk about hospitality. We can discuss that later. Today, it's Fellow Daoist Laozi and Junior Brother Yuanshi who are the main characters. We shouldn't do anything that would overshadow them, haha." Xuantian laughed it off, thinking it best to forget about sending him to the West again.
Zhunti was about to say something when Jieyin quietly tugged at him. Zhunti, not knowing why, listened to Jieyin and sat down.
A short while later, a disciple announced that Nuwa had arrived. Nuwa brought only one person with her, the last of Emperor Jun's ten sons, named Lu Ya. After exchanging greetings with the others, Nuwa sat down. Behind her, Lu Ya stared at Xuan Tian with a face full of hatred. If looks could kill a saint, Xuan Tian would be dead countless times over.
Xuan Tian knew of Lu Ya, and seeing Lu Ya staring at him intently, he was displeased. Although Lu Ya hated him, he wasn't afraid unless Lu Ya became a saint. He still had some reservations. Lu Ya was just an ant now and not worth fearing. He was just worried about the disciples behind him. He was concerned about the Immortal-Slaying Flying Knife in Lu Ya's hand. He wasn't afraid, but his disciples were. The Immortal-Slaying Flying Knife was like a laser gun used by cultivators. Below the saint level, without a supreme treasure, it would be difficult to withstand. He had to plan his next move.
Zhunti was delighted to see Lu Ya. Lu Ya was a promising talent. If he were to bring Lu Ya into the Western Sect, he would be of great use. Not only would he gain the help of a master, but he could also win over Nuwa. However, he might offend Xuantian, which made him somewhat uneasy.
When Yuanshi saw that all the sages had arrived, he said to Laozi, "Brother, you shall preside over this."
Lao Tzu did not refuse and said, "It has been over a thousand years since you, Master, attained enlightenment. We sages rarely gather together. Now that we are gathered here, why don't we discuss the Great Law and exchange ideas?"
Everyone exclaimed, "Excellent!" Then they each displayed their supernatural abilities, revealing auspicious clouds above their heads and verbally explaining their understanding of the Dao.
Laozi's head is adorned with auspicious clouds, three streams of pure energy intertwining and swirling. This is Laozi transformed from the Three Pure Ones' energy. Others may not know, but Xuan Tian does. It is an incarnation created by Laozi using the Taiqing, Yuqing, and Shangqing energies, a manifestation of the "One Qi Transforms into Three Pure Ones" technique. Laozi, a born sage, cannot sever his own corpse, yet possesses great wisdom. He entrusts his own good and evil obsessions to these three energies, creating a unique style. Although incomplete and less powerful than the true severing of the Three Corpses, it is still formidable. In the center is a diagram, black and white, which is the Taiji diagram. The three streams of pure energy rotate with the black and white energies within the diagram. On the diagram is a pagoda called the Heaven and Earth Profound Yellow Exquisite Pagoda, radiating golden light and displaying a profound yellow color. Wisps of profound yellow energy hang down, accompanied by clear sounds, creating a magnificent sight.
