Swords flew and hammers fell, and Master Puxian and Wuyunxian reappeared in the main hall. Both Master Puxian and Wuyunxian were a little pale, but everyone in the hall naturally understood that Wuyunxian's counterattack from below was due to an inherent disadvantage, but now he had managed to draw. Clearly, Wuyunxian had won this round.
The two Westerners sighed inwardly. Jieyin and Zhunti exchanged a glance, Jieyin's face becoming even more distressed. With the disciples of the Eastern Chan and Jie sects at such a level of cultivation, and possessing such excellent magic treasures, when would the Western sect be able to flourish?
Zhun Tu looked at the disciples of the Chan and Jie sects with resentment. Then a thought struck him: the Chan and Jie sects had different doctrines, and there must be great controversy over the matter of spreading the teachings. When the two sects fought, his Western Sect could take advantage of the situation and benefit from it. Thinking of this, he smiled at Jie Yin. Jie Yin was stunned for a moment, then nodded sadly.
Nuwa, like Xuantian, was just there to watch the show. After all, she didn't have many disciples, and Lu Ya was only there because of Nuotai's request. However, the things the two Westerners had done earlier had annoyed her, so she didn't like Lu Ya either.
Xuan Tian pretended not to see it and let them fight it out; he had something else on his mind.
The Seventy-Three Heavens' thoughts, a comparison of strength
The previous story tells of a conflict between the disciples of Yuanshi and Tongtian, where Puxian and Wuyunxian fought to a draw. However, Puxian gained the upper hand in one move during the fight. Although it seemed like the two were evenly matched, Wuyunxian was actually slightly better.
In the main hall, Yuanshi's face grew increasingly gloomy, while Tongtian Daoren's sword-like eyebrows rose even higher. "My Jie Sect disciples do indeed possess some power to overturn rivers and seas," Tongtian said smugly. Yuanshi snorted coldly, "Guangchengzi, why don't you go and learn a few moves from your uncle?" Guangchengzi stepped forward. This Guangchengzi was a cultivator from Peach Garden Cave on Nine Immortals Mountain. He had become Yuanshi's disciple and was chosen by Yuanshi to be a Golden Immortal who struck the bell, making his cultivation even more profound. Only the Antarctic Immortal could barely rival him, making him unparalleled in prestige within the Chan Sect. Yuanshi's decision to send him to fight was clearly an attempt to salvage the face lost in the previous defeat. At this moment, Puxian Zhenren stood behind a group of Chan Sect Golden Immortals with a displeased expression.
Tongtian Daoist, seeing that it was Guang Chengzi who had appeared, turned to look at his disciples. If Duobao and Yunxiao were to fight, they would almost certainly win. The other disciples also possessed the strength to rival Guang Chengzi. Should he thoroughly demoralize his senior brother? While in high spirits, Tongtian Daoist couldn't help but think of the camaraderie among his fellow disciples. Looking at the surging emotions of his disciples, Tongtian was troubled.
Laozi, however, could not stand by and watch, and stepped forward, saying, "There is no need to fight anymore. The Three Pure Ones are of one mind, and we are fellow disciples. There is no need to let this trivial matter damage the greater good." Tongtian was already in a dilemma, but seeing that Laozi had spoken up, he readily agreed.
Although Yuanshi was unwilling, he could not disobey Laozi, so he angrily summoned Guangchengzi.
Laozi glanced at Xuantian before saying, "In this discussion of the Dao, everyone has gained some insights. My master is a disciple of the Western Sect, and Xuandu is his only disciple. All of you fellow disciples should take good care of yourselves. The task of educating the human race will still require your assistance." Everyone quickly agreed. Laozi continued, "The West is barren and desolate. My fellow disciples Jieyin and Zhunti must take good care of it and not disregard our master's instructions." Jieyin and Zhunti were taken aback. What did Laozi mean? Why was he suddenly being so kind to the Western Sect? The other sages were also somewhat confused.
The next sentence made Jieyin and Zhunti so angry they vomited blood. Laozi said, "If you have nothing to do, don't come to the East, lest you hinder the Western teachings and end up empty-handed, becoming a laughingstock." The two were furious, but because several Eastern sages were present, they could not refute him. They secretly resented him, nodded in agreement, and turned to leave.
The Eastern sages were amused to see the two Westerners leave; they thought, "This old man is quite interesting, even when he's not busy."
Xuan Tian said, "I still have some matters to attend to, so I will not stay any longer. Farewell." Laozi looked at Xuan Tian calmly and said, "I hope you remember what you said earlier." Xuan Tian was taken aback, then smiled and agreed.
Seeing that Xuan Tian was about to leave, Nuwa apologized and left with him.
Tongtian and Yuanshi had a falling out. Although Laozi mediated, it was still somewhat awkward. Seeing that everyone else had left, he naturally left as well.
Laozi was about to leave when Yuanshi quickly grabbed him, saying, "Senior brother, what do you think about the matter of educating the human race?" Yuanshi was somewhat unwilling, after all, it concerned the inheritance of the Daoist tradition, so he had no choice but to do so.
Laozi glanced at Yuanshi, sighed inwardly, and said, "The affairs of the human race are governed by fate." Then, ignoring Yuanshi's attempts to persuade him to stay, he left directly.
Meanwhile, Xuan Tian and Nuwa left Kunlun Mountain together.
Nuwa smiled and said, "Senior brother has taken on several good disciples." Xuantian was taken aback and then smiled and said, "Junior sister, why don't you take on any disciples?" Nuwa sighed upon hearing this and said, "Senior brother, if you have nothing to do, you may visit Nuwa Residence. Junior sister will take her leave now." With that, she turned and left.
Xuan Tian was confused by Nuwa's nonsensical words. After Nuwa left, he returned to Penglai Island.
Upon entering the island, Xuan Tian sat on his cloud bed, pondering the current situation.
This discussion, ostensibly about the Dao and its laws, was actually a reflection of the anxiety of several sages who wanted to divide the power of the primordial world.
The Dao Ancestor once said that Xuan Tian was not allowed to establish a religion, but only to serve as the protector of the Xuanmen sect. This was somewhat inexplicable. What religion was he supposed to protect? This world was created by Pangu, and Pangu's body was the source of this religion. If we were to talk about the orthodox lineage, it would be the Pangu sect. Xuan Tian and the Three Pure Ones both held the orthodox position. The Three Pure Ones established a religion, which was the orthodox lineage of Pangu. Although Xuan Tian did not establish a religion, he was no less powerful than the three of them. Penglai Island was powerful, with two Quasi-Saints alone. Xuan Tian possessed numerous treasures and was also the Holy Father of the Human Race. He controlled the fortune of the Underworld and the Four Seas. He was not worried about the Penglai sect suffering calamity.
Now, several sages have had enough and are demanding that Xuan Tian relinquish what he has been offering. However, Xuan Tian is not one to be trifled with. Although he has no choice but to relinquish what he has (Xuan Tian is not yet confident he can withstand several sages and protect his disciples), he will not do so willingly. His previous act of demanding magical treasures, seemingly petty, was actually Xuan Tian's way of clearly telling them that he is not someone to be trifled with. They can have what he has, but they must pay a price. No matter who these sages are, even if they are worthless, they must give in. This is Xuan Tian's principle; otherwise, he would spoil the sages' appetites, and once it happens, it will happen again and again. Now that Xuan Tian has made his stance clear, any future attempts by these sages to do such things will have to pass Xuan Tian's test first.
