Thinking this, I quickened my pace, but the faster we went, the more we realized that the stairs seemed to have no end.
But no one gave up. Even though they had become stronger, they still felt somewhat powerless under such intense exercise.
At first I thought I was alone, but then I realized that Grandpa and Yanling had slowed down for some reason. Grandpa was even panting heavily, as if he was exhausted.
Suddenly, another loud noise came from behind us, and I couldn't help but look back as I ran.
It would have been better if I hadn't looked, because what I saw almost scared me to death. Behind us, in what was originally an endless abyss where nothing could be seen clearly, a red light suddenly emerged from the deep darkness.
Then the red light that formed into a dot kept getting bigger and bigger. When we looked again, it had actually set the entire vertical black hole ablaze, like a fire unicorn about to emerge from its cave, roaring endlessly as it quickly followed behind us.
In the already somewhat warm space, a sudden wave of heat came from behind, as if it was about to burn us.
When Grandpa saw the flames rushing towards us, his face darkened, and he shouted, "Don't stop! Charge upwards with all your might!" As he spoke, he continued to clear away the stones in front of us, as we were constantly being engulfed by the flames behind us.
The place we started running up seemed to have been swallowed up by the flames and disappeared completely, even the wooden stairs were burned.
Waves of heat wafted over from behind, and I could almost smell the burning of my clothes. The rocks and crystals around us seemed to have been shattered, turning into fragments that fell into the sea of fire and were instantly engulfed by the flames.
The flames were getting faster and faster, and the huge roar was right next to our ears. The three of us were running on the edge of the flames, as if we were about to be swallowed up.
Sweat poured down my head in this heat, and I felt like my legs were about to give way, and I was about to fall to the ground.
But then, something unexpected happened. Just as the flames were about to catch up with us and engulf us, the wooden ladder beneath our feet began to shake violently.
Grandpa, Yanling, and I were all a little confused about what had happened, and a sense of panic welled up inside us, but we were too exhausted to walk any further.
In that instant, I felt a sudden distance being created between myself and the sea of fire, which surprised Grandpa and Yanling.
"Look at this ladder!" This sudden change left us somewhat bewildered, and we stopped in our tracks. But Yanling suddenly spoke up.
Upon hearing Yanling's words, Grandpa and I both looked up at the ladder. We discovered that the ladder seemed to have suddenly come to life, stretching itself continuously, just like an elevator in the real world, without us having to exert any effort.
Looking at the strange elevator and the sea of fire behind us that was being pushed further away, I couldn't help but slowly breathe a sigh of relief. My legs went weak, and I sat down on the elevator.
Grandpa and Yanling breathed a sigh of relief and sat down with me. Grandpa's legs were trembling uncontrollably.
"What is this?" I asked, looking at the ladder at my feet with some confusion.
Yanling shook her head, indicating that she didn't know. Grandpa also looked puzzled. Although he had been here before, he had never seen this happen before.
Small stones kept falling from above, but the ladder seemed to have a mind of its own, bending left and right to avoid all the huge rocks.
We sat on this ladder, watching the sea of fire that was once so close to us gradually widen the distance between us.
The cave collapsed completely after being engulfed by the fire, as if to bury its secrets underground forever.
Looking at the sea of fire below, I couldn't help but feel a strange emotion. Although I didn't know what that giant golden gate was, since it was a secret that my parents were willing to risk their lives to protect, it must be something extremely important.
Now that it's buried deep underground, I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing, but at least this way, the secret won't be exposed, I thought.
Yanling noticed a change in my expression and seemed to have guessed something, but she didn't say anything, she just patted my shoulder.
I turned to look at Yanling, then took her hand. At this moment, the most important thing was no longer that giant golden gate, since Grandpa had said that the miniature three-headed hellhound at the beginning was that beast's nascent soul.
Now that it has escaped, I don't know what will happen to it. A fierce glint flashed in my eyes. In any case, the first thing to do after I get out is to find that beast as soon as possible and then completely eliminate it.

Just as I was still thinking about that beast, Yanling's voice came with a hint of surprise.
