But at that moment, the vines beneath our feet suddenly began to shake violently. Caught off guard, we had to quickly steady ourselves to avoid falling.
But the vines suddenly accelerated, and a fierce gust of wind suddenly came from in front of me, making it difficult for me to open my eyes. I could only squint and stare at whatever might happen in front of me.
Through my squinting eyes, I suddenly saw a glimmer of light ahead, which grew larger and larger amidst the incredibly fast-moving vines.
It started as a white dot, then grew into a star, then grew to the size of the moon, and finally became a huge white hole, so bright that you couldn't see anything outside.
Then, just as we were about to rush out of the cave, the vines suddenly stopped, and we couldn't stand up at all. We could only accelerate and rush out, completely unable to control our bodies.
As soon as I rushed out, I felt as if I were in a completely different time and space, yet it felt strangely familiar.
A bright moon hangs in the sky tonight, appearing exceptionally luminous. No stars are visible in the sky, and the pure moonlight, like flowing water, bathes us in a white veil, creating a scene as beautiful as a dream.
But then a feeling of weightlessness washed over me, and I woke up from the beautiful scenery. When I looked back, we were suspended in mid-air, and below us was the same plain we had started on. The big tree still stood quietly in the middle of the plain, emitting a faint light from its top, but I couldn't make out what it was.
Instead of coming out from where we started, we came out through a large hole in the middle of the tree's branches.
The huge hole looked like the mouth of the tree king, and we were directly spat out of its mouth.
We were about to crash into the plains while we were in the air, but for some reason, I felt as if I were sealed in place. I couldn't move at all and could only watch my body accelerate downwards due to gravity.
Chapter 87 A Perverse Taste
Both Grandpa and Shui Yanling were in the same boat; they couldn't use the energy in their bodies, which seemed to be something the Tree King did on purpose.
I wondered why this tree king might want to kill us. A strange thought suddenly popped into my head: maybe this tree king doesn't like to eat live things! Just like a cat, after catching a mouse, it will play with it until it dies before eating it.
Thinking about this, I couldn't help but feel a chill. Could the Tree King really be that twisted?
Thinking this, but my body was completely unable to move. Before I could react, I had already fallen straight to the ground with my grandfather, Shui Yanling.
"Ah!" I grimaced for a long time before finally getting up from the ground. My whole body ached. At that moment, I thought to myself, "That old bastard tree king must have done this on purpose."
That building was two or three stories high, and it just threw it out to us.
Ignoring my own injuries, I quickly ran towards Grandpa and Shui Yanling, who had fallen quite far from me.
But Shui Yanling seemed to be fine. She dusted herself off and quickly ran with me towards Grandpa's side.
Grandpa was lying on the ground, his face pale, and the peach wood sword was stuck in the ground behind him.
"Grandpa, how are you? Are you alright?" I asked with some concern.
Shui Yanling and I helped Grandpa up from the ground. Grandpa was already injured and hadn't recovered his energy after all the fighting. I was afraid he wouldn't be able to handle this.
After Grandpa got up, he just held his waist and muttered to himself, "That tree king is really ruthless."
Then he said to us, "It's nothing, it's nothing, I just think I twisted my waist."
Grandpa complained about the tree king in a low voice, somewhat childishly, but he didn't dare to speak too loudly, just like a child talking badly about someone behind their back.
Seeing Grandpa like this, Shui Yanling and I couldn't help but chuckle. It seemed that Grandpa wasn't seriously injured, which put my mind at ease.
I quickly looked around and realized that this was indeed the plain we had reached when we first entered the tree hole, except that it was daytime when we went in, and now it was dark.
Although it was supposed to be dark, the plains were almost as dark as day. The moon was exceptionally bright tonight, and it was also shining from the top of the King of Trees. But I didn't have time to pay attention to that, because I saw something else.
Not far from us, a cage made of tree branches stood silently.
The cage seemed to contain something that emitted a golden light, standing out conspicuously on the plain, so I spotted it at a glance.
"Look!" I shouted, my voice turning cold.
Grandpa stopped his rambling and looked over with Yanling. The golden light was none other than the same golden light we had seen on the stairs.
According to Grandpa, this was the nascent soul of the three-headed hellhound, and for some reason, it was trapped here in a cage made of tree branches.
At this moment, its form looked rather pitiful, and the golden light on its body had dimmed, appearing rather dim. It simply remained quietly in the cage.
Not only that, when I first encountered it on the stairs, its body was still relatively intact, unlike its flesh and blood body, where all three heads were still there. If it hadn't been so small at the time, I would have thought that the beast had fully recovered.
