In an instant, disciples of the Jie Sect flew to Jin'ao Island in the East Sea, and streaks of Shangqing immortal light flew across the primordial sky, a truly beautiful sight.
The group arrived at Biyou Palace, bowed to each other, and took their seats in order. Seeing that all his disciples were present, Tongtian began his sermon. Heavenly flowers rained down, golden lotuses rose, and celestial music filled the air, captivating the disciples. This sermon lasted for forty-nine days. Afterward, Tongtian said, "This great calamity of the primordial world has passed. You may now cultivate in peace until the next calamity. A hundred years from now, you may come again to hear my sermon."
In the Jade Void Palace of the Pure Realm, the Primordial Lord was also giving a sermon. There were thirteen people under his seat, who were the famous Twelve Golden Immortals and the Daoist Burning Lamp in later generations.
After Yuanshi finished his sermon, he addressed his disciples, saying, "The great calamity has passed. The next great calamity will be one of great prosperity for humanity. Our Daoist sect will be the main force in this calamity. Although our eldest brother, Taishang Laojun, leads the human religion, he only has one disciple, Xuandu. You should go and pass on your Daoist lineage so that you can assist our eldest brother in educating humanity." Guangchengzi and the other twelve Golden Immortals bowed in respect and then left Yuxu Palace, descending the mountain to return to their respective Daoist temples. The two Western Saints remained in the Pure Land, preaching and teaching their disciples. For a time, the primordial world was extremely peaceful.
After receiving the sage's command, the disciples of various sects of Taoism entered the prehistoric world to spread their doctrines to the prehistoric human race and develop their respective lineages.
On this day, Xuan Tian was meditating in the Du Tian Palace when he suddenly sensed something. He opened his eyes, tried to calculate with his fingers, but couldn't figure it out. Xuan Tian was greatly surprised. There were only three possibilities why a sage couldn't calculate it: first, the protagonist of the great calamity, the one who carried out the calamity on behalf of Heaven; second, the sages using powerful magic to obscure the secrets of Heaven; and third, the birth of a primordial spiritual treasure. At this time, the great calamity had just passed, so it was naturally not the protagonist of the calamity, the one who conferred gods on behalf of Heaven. There was also no major conflict among the sages, so it couldn't be a sage obscuring the secrets of Heaven. For a sage to obscure the secrets of Heaven and prevent other sages from calculating, the only way to do so would be to compare the differences in their cultivation levels. Moreover, with Xuan Tian's cultivation level, especially after he gained great merit from converting the dead, his cultivation level had increased considerably. Unless any two of the Three Pure Ones used a Taiji Diagram or a Pangu Banner as a means to obscure the secrets of Heaven, Xuan Tian could calculate something. The only possible scenario was the birth of a primordial spiritual treasure.
Xuan Tian thought to himself that the innate spiritual treasure that appeared this time must be an extremely powerful artifact, not the Chaos Bell. The Chaos Bell wouldn't appear at this time. In the last battle for the Chaos Bell, Xuan Tian had no choice but to knock it away. It would be a lie to say that he didn't want it. However, given the current situation, whoever obtained the Chaos Bell could potentially disrupt the balance of power among the saints. Originally, if Xuan Tian didn't have the matter of the human race or the Six Paths of Reincarnation, the other saints might not have objected if he had obtained the Chaos Bell. After all, Xuan Tian didn't establish a major sect, so it wouldn't be a problem if such a treasure that suppressed destiny fell into Xuan Tian's hands. But since Xuan Tian possessed 30% of the destiny of the human race, he couldn't let him get such a treasure. Otherwise, how could the other saints and major sects survive? In the end, with no other choice, Xuan Tian had to step in and knock the Chaos Bell away to prevent the saints from fighting each other over it.
It's not the Chaos Bell, yet it possesses such power that even Xuan Tian pales in comparison. At the very least, it's one of the Ten Great Innate Treasures. Among the Ten Great Innate Treasures, the Five Elements Flag, the Qiankun Cauldron, the Twelve-Petal Lotus Platform, the Map of Mountains and Rivers, the Earth Book, the Book of the Underworld (the Book of Life and Death + the Judge's Pen, the Book of Marriage), and the Red Embroidered Ball already have owners. The River Map and the Luo River Book are in the hands of the Dao Ancestor and were later used by Fu Xi to attain enlightenment. Fu Xi has not yet been reincarnated, so it cannot be that. The Heavenly Book (the Investiture of the Gods = the God-Slaying Whip) will only appear at the time of the Investiture of the Gods, so it cannot be that either. Therefore, it can only be the Kongtong Seal. In his previous life, the Kongtong Seal was used by Lao Tzu to establish the Human Emperor, so it has a great affinity with Lao Tzu. If Xuan Tian wants to seize the treasure this time, he will probably still be entangled in karma with Lao Tzu.
Even if it involves karma, I have to take it. If I were to take it and establish myself as the Human Emperor with this treasure, I would probably take half of the human race's fortune. Add to that the share given to other saints, and then he and Nuwa would have very little left.
Forty: The Treasure Hunt of the Kongtong Seal (Part 1)
After Xuan Tian guessed that the innate spiritual treasure, the Kongtong Seal, was about to be born, he made up his mind to seize this treasure.
Xuan Tian knew that a fierce battle would inevitably ensue for this treasure among the sages. Laozi, one of the Three Pure Ones, was determined to obtain it. While Yuanshi and Tongtian might also desire it, they wouldn't overly compete with Laozi. The West was already impoverished, and the treasure's effect wasn't based on its power, but rather on its necessity for establishing a human emperor. This spiritual treasure would play a significant role in the struggle for the Daoist lineage, so the two Westerners would certainly fight for it. Nuwa probably didn't have many ambitions. After all, although her cultivation was currently the lowest, she had created the human race, and whoever educated them would receive a share of the fortune. Xuan Tian originally had a share in this regard as well. However, a sage's cultivation speed was as slow as a snail's pace; fortune was the accelerator. Sages were immortal, so what were they fighting for? They were fighting for face. Everything they did was for this reason. Even the struggle for the Daoist lineage was for fortune, and the struggle for fortune was only to improve their cultivation. Fortunately, they had a good position among the sages; no one wanted to be at the bottom. Therefore, it was hard to guarantee that Nuwa wouldn't fight for it; the key was which side she would choose. The two Westerners are no match for the Three Pure Ones, and they might very well drag Nuwa into the conflict with the Three Pure Ones. However, with the addition of himself as a sage, the situation has become even more chaotic. What a hassle! But trouble is good, so let's add a little more trouble for them.
To increase his chances of successfully seizing the treasure, Xuan Tian took out his Heaven and Earth Whisk and held it in his right hand. With his left hand, he grabbed at the air, and countless threads appeared in the void. These were the threads of cause and effect, visible only to sages; others could not see them. The threads were interconnected, crisscrossing and inseparable, dazzling the eye yet somehow orderly, complex yet not chaotic. Xuan Tian then used his Heaven and Earth Whisk to brush the threads, making them even more disordered, impossible to distinguish, and unable to discern which threads were connected to which.
