Yanling suddenly breathed a sigh of relief. She was almost about to reveal her true form. Although the situation was critical, she managed to hold back at the last moment.
In fact, she had just made the biggest decision: she didn't care if she was exposed in front of Fang Shuang, because none of that mattered as much as Fang Shuang's safety.
At that moment, I naturally didn't see the expressions on Grandpa's and Shui Yanling's faces. I was just excitedly clutching the jade pendant. As long as I had this kind of energy, I could protect Grandpa and Shui Yanling. Maybe I could even take revenge in the future.
I even went out of my way to feel the ghost head on my arm, because I was afraid that it was that ghost thing using my body in the dark again, but I found that it didn't do anything unusual, so I was relieved.
However, the sudden disappearance of energy within my body left me somewhat helpless. Was this a one-time use? It was far too short-lived! Thinking of this, I quickly looked at the fallen tree king vines. I knew very well that such an attack could not possibly kill the tree king directly, and its true form had never appeared.
However, the vines of that tree king lay there motionless, as if it had already died.
Meanwhile, the ghost trees that were unaffected could only tremble and cover their trunks with their branches, looking just like frightened people.
But the human-like expression on that pale, dead face was even more disgusting.
Suddenly, the vines of the King of Trees began to move slowly, and I was startled, becoming wary of the vine.
Grandpa and Yanling immediately shifted their gaze from me to the enormous vine.
The enormous vine was rolling and twisting, and the poisonous thorns on its surface withered and melted into the vine. Then, the vine slowly began to recover.
The breach that had been bombarded was now visibly recovering, as if it would soon be back to its original state.
I was startled as I watched the vines recover, thinking that I absolutely couldn't let them recover, otherwise they would be even more difficult to deal with.
So I held the jade pendant in my hand, and relying on the feeling of that first punch, I imitated it and threw a punch directly at that huge vine.
Having learned from their initial experience, the man-eating trees immediately closed their eyes, some even turning their heads away in extreme fear, lest the immense energy once again blast them into the air.
Grandpa and Shui Yanling were also drawn to my pose, staring intently at my punch as I threw it, as if they could already imagine the power of the punch in their minds. Grandpa even squinted his eyes, trying to see some clue from it.
Shui Yanling was even more looking forward to this punch. Who wouldn't want their man to be strong? Just like in that movie, "My ideal man is a peerless hero. One day he will come to marry me riding on a colorful cloud!" This is probably the longing in the hearts of many girls. Shui Yanling also thought so. However, she never looked down on Fang Shuang, who needed her protection. But deep down, she still hoped that Fang Shuang could become stronger.
Even the giant tree vines seemed to recover more slowly after I struck that pose, as if they were also startled by that initial punch.
Seeing me assume the stance for my second punch, it seemed to take it more seriously, immediately coiling its vines into a ball and assuming a defensive posture.
Everyone, even the trees, was waiting for my punch. In an instant, the entire forest seemed to fall silent, as if everything in the world had disappeared except for the punch I had thrown.
quiet.
Absolute silence.
There wasn't a sound in the entire forest.
My outstretched hand stood there silently, and all eyes or gazes were fixed on my fist.
In the woods, everything was exactly as it had been, without any change, not even a gust of wind had stirred.
After a long while, I awkwardly pulled my fist back, looked at it strangely, and then scratched my head with my fingers. Why wasn't it working? Grandpa next to me stared at me with his mouth wide open, as if he were looking at an idiot, while Shui Yanling covered her mouth and chuckled softly.
Seeing that nothing had happened, the ghost trees nearby loosened their branches and, looking at my somewhat disheveled appearance, opened their blood-red mouths and burst into laughter.
Seeing the trees start laughing, I felt a little embarrassed and angry. I threw another punch at them, but nothing happened. I felt a pang of disappointment. Was it really a one-time thing? I threw another punch, and the man-eating trees were startled again, all clutching their heads and turning away.
After seeing that nothing had happened, they turned back. This time they seemed a little angry, all baring their teeth at me. Their originally pale, dead faces were now filled with rage, but they did not attack directly.
Since their king had not yet spoken, after the initial punch, the tree king's huge vines seemed to be startled, coiling up in a defensive posture, but after realizing that nothing had happened, they unfurled their bodies again.
As for my second punch, it didn't move at all, as if it knew this would be the outcome.
Looking at the Tree King vines, which had almost fully recovered, my heart sank to the bottom once again. I looked back at Grandpa and Yanling.
