relation

"Grandpa, I know my parents must be dead! The ghost hand on my body must be related to my parents. I don't want to be confused anymore, I want to know the truth!" I looked at my grandpa and said calmly with a determined look in my eyes.

Grandpa raised his head and looked into my eyes, as if trying to see something. After a long while, he finally looked away, sighed, took out his pipe, lit it, and started puffing away, blowing out smoke rings.

But I didn't give up. I kept looking at my grandfather with unwavering determination, as if I had to know something before I would give up.

Smoke rings drifted slowly through the air, and soon the whole room was filled with the smell of tobacco. Yanling had finished washing the dishes sometime earlier, but she didn't come near us. She just leaned against the door, quietly watching us.

After a long time, Grandpa finally stopped smoking his pipe, extinguished it, and put it aside. Then he picked up the tea in front of him and took a sip. I continued to watch Grandpa quietly.

Grandpa finally gave a bitter smile and slowly said, "Shuang'er, you've been smart since you were little, so you may have already figured some things out, but I'm not telling you for your own good! After all, those people are too powerful, and I'm afraid they'll do something to you."

Chapter Fifty-Five: It's unbearably uncomfortable

Grandpa's voice trembled slightly for some reason, and then he looked at me and continued, "You guessed right, your parents are indeed dead, and that jade pendant was left to you by them."

Hearing this, my eyelids trembled slightly. Could there be more to the story of my parents' deaths? I sat up straight and waited for my grandfather to finish speaking.

"Back then, your parents had already retired and were determined not to care about anything else. At that time, your mother was pregnant with you, but those people wouldn't let go. They launched a surprise attack while your mother was giving birth!" Grandpa covered his face with his hands, but I could feel his anger and sadness.

"Everything happened so fast. So many enemies attacked at once. Your father and I could barely handle them, but someone actually bypassed us and went straight to your mother who was giving birth!" At this point, Grandpa became even more emotional, as if he would have fought that person to the death if they were in front of him.

As I listened, my eyes reddened, my fists clenched involuntarily, and I felt a sharp pain in my throat, as if something was stuck there.

Shui Yanling, standing nearby, was also in tears. She had witnessed this scene but was powerless to do anything because the people who came were too strong. They were so strong that she had no chance to intervene. She, who should have been by Fang Shuang's mother's side, was seriously injured by the assassins.

Grandpa's choked voice continued, "Your mother could have protected herself from this assassination attempt, but she was killed trying to save you, and your father also died on the spot trying to protect you."

Grandpa had already bowed his head deeply, while I gritted my teeth, my anger overwhelming me. Who said I didn't have parents? My parents actually asked me about the huge sacrifice I had made.

"Who did it? Who did it?" A wild, animalistic scream escaped my throat. Hatred was driving me crazy. Who could understand the feeling of being called an orphan since childhood? Although my grandfather loved me very much, he couldn't represent my parents.

Now that I know my parents were murdered, how can I remain calm? I desperately want to find the culprit and take revenge.

"Xiao Shuang'er, calm down, don't let anger cloud your judgment."

When Grandpa saw me like this, he quickly spoke up to remind me, afraid that I might do something in my anger.

Shui Yanling was also a little worried, but she didn't know how to comfort him. Although she hadn't known Fang Shuang for long, she knew very well that Fang Shuang was a person who valued relationships very much.

Now that he knows about his parents, how could he not be heartbroken? If he remained calm after hearing such a thing, he wouldn't be the Fang Shuang she knew, and perhaps her feelings for Fang Shuang would fade.

Hearing my grandfather's words, I felt even more heartbroken and a nameless anger seemed to burn from the bottom of my heart, and even my eyes seemed to turn bright red.

At that moment, the ghost head imprinted on my arm seemed to flash red light in its eyes, as if it was about to come to life.

"Oh no!" Grandpa saw that my eyes had turned red and realized something was wrong. Shui Yanling ran straight to me, grabbed my hand, and told me to calm down.

But the anger in my heart seemed to grow stronger and stronger. Now I only wanted to tear my enemy to pieces as soon as possible. I don't know why, but the thought of my enemy's corpse lying in front of me gave me a special kind of pleasure.

At that moment, my mind was filled with murderous rage and hatred, and I couldn't hear a word Yanling and Grandpa said.

When Grandpa saw that something was wrong, he quickly stood up, then pulled Shui Yanling away, afraid that I would hurt her if I went into a qi deviation. He then took out a talisman from his pocket and was about to help me calm down.

But suddenly, a cool aura flowed from the jade pendant in my hand, instantly filling my entire body and making me wake up in an instant.

The anger in my heart was extinguished by the cool aura. Then, the cool energy gathered on my arm. Under the cool energy, the ghost head disappeared with a flash of red light in its eyes, as if nothing had happened.
