Now the peach wood sword was almost useless, and Grandpa hadn't expected that the juice of some unknown substance would have such an effect.
Grandpa took the peach wood sword in his hand and wiped it with his clothes, but found that it didn't work. The juice was stuck firmly to the sword and he couldn't get it off.
But the ghost tree that Grandpa had cut down seemed to have realized what was happening. It was still covering its wounds with its branches, but the expression on its face seemed to be extremely angry.
The enormous vines spread out from all directions, and this time their attack was even more ferocious.
Moreover, the previously injured man-eating tree actually released the branches that had been covering the wound when the vines reached out, allowing the bright red sap, like blood, to flow out.
A sudden roar came, and the wound on the man-eating tree, which had been injured by Grandpa, burst open, and a large amount of bright red sap sprayed out from the tree and landed directly on the vines below.
After the red sap burst out, the trees seemed to wither suddenly. The entire tree, along with its leaves, shrank and slowly fell towards its roots until it disappeared completely into the ground.
But at this moment we had no time to care where those trees were, whether they were dead or what. Because after the already thick vines suddenly received the red sap, they suddenly grew even larger, and the originally green vines turned into a bright red like the sap, and were covered with thorns.
The blood-red vines, with their thorns, looked like hands reaching out from hell, lashing out at us.
Grandpa's face turned grim. He had already lost some energy in the battle with the ghost hand, and now that he couldn't use the peach wood sword, the situation was even more urgent.
Seeing the surging crimson thorny vines, Grandpa had no choice but to quickly take out all the yellow paper from his pocket.
He suddenly flung the yellow paper into the sky, then chanted incantations. The talisman spun in the air and then connected with another piece, as if forming a wall made of talisman paper.
The vines didn't stop because of the talisman wall; they could only crash headfirst into it.
When the vine touched the talisman wall, Grandpa shouted loudly.
With a "burst," the wall of talismans suddenly dispersed, and the talismans flew onto the vines, completely enveloping them.
As Grandpa uttered the word "explode," the talismans suddenly exploded like tiny bombs, instantly engulfing the surging vines in a massive sea of fire. Not only the vines, but also many man-eating trees were spread by the fire.
Chapter Fifty-Eight Spectacular
The entire forest seemed to be ablaze, and the enormous flames showed no signs of stopping, spreading deeper and deeper into the forest.
The burning trees struggled in the flames, emitting childlike screams that were utterly terrifying.
Seeing Grandpa's powerful attack, I was so shocked that I couldn't speak. I never thought Grandpa was that strong before, I never expected him to be so powerful.
I even suspect that Grandpa's previous acts of pretending to be a ghost were just for my benefit. The sea of fire was truly spectacular, and the man-eating trees struggling in the flames looked incredibly pitiful.
Shui Yanling didn't seem particularly surprised by this scene, as if she already knew how powerful her grandfather was. In fact, she hadn't expected this forest to be so strange. She had initially thought that if she used her black flames, she could definitely burn the forest completely.
But when she saw the blood-red liquid, which could actually seal the spirituality of her grandfather's peach wood sword, she couldn't help but feel a little uneasy.
But for some reason, it seemed as if the sap was very important to these trees. Even though Grandpa was only using a flame, they were unwilling to use the sap to extinguish the fire.
Seeing the situation, Shui Yanling didn't appear very objective, because she knew things weren't that simple.
Grandpa's expression wasn't good either, because he knew very well that this level of destruction was not enough to completely eliminate this ghost tree, not to mention the existence of a Tree King behind it, which made him extremely wary.
Just as Shui Yanling and her grandfather had thought, the fire was raging and almost reached the depths of the forest, but suddenly an enormous blood-red vine stretched out from the depths of the forest. This vine was so big that it was even bigger than the trunks of these man-eating trees.
I peeked over and saw that this vine was probably as thick as more than ten people could hug. Seeing this vine made my eyes almost pop out of their sockets. If the vine was this thick, how big must the tree behind it be?
When Grandpa saw the vine, he knew something was wrong and quickly pulled us back a good distance before shielding us behind him.
The instant we retreated, an enormous, blood-red vine slammed down on where we had started, creating a huge crater in the ground.
In that instant, I felt as if the earth was shaking, and I almost lost my footing.
Shui Yanling was secretly gathering her energy, remaining cautious and vigilant, because she clearly sensed a very powerful presence deep within the forest.
After the vine crashed down, a violent gust of wind blew in all directions, and Grandpa's fire was extinguished by the wind. The man-eating trees that had been howling in agony cheered the moment they saw the vine.
