At this moment, I was fully awake and began to notice the changes in my body.
"Xiao Shuang'er, are you alright?" Grandpa and Shui Yanling quickly came over to ask when they saw that I seemed to have regained consciousness.
Shui Yanling looked at me with a worried expression, as if she was afraid that something had happened to me.
"I don't know why, but I was so angry just now that even the ghost head made a move. Then a cool energy came from the jade pendant, and I slowly calmed down."
I looked at the ghost head on my arm and the jade pendant hanging on my wrist, feeling a little scared. If the jade pendant hadn't stopped me from being possessed by that ghost again, I probably would have been filled with self-reproach.
Grandpa seemed to see the self-blame in my heart. "Shuang'er, don't blame yourself. I didn't expect this situation either. Don't think too much about it. Let's fix the jade pendant first and then talk about other things!" Then Grandpa paused and continued, "You are still too weak now. Telling you too much will not do you any good. As for the origin of that ghostly thing on you and the enemies of your parents who deserve to die, I will definitely tell you when you are strong enough."
Looking at my grandfather and Shui Yanling, who were filled with worry, I felt a little guilty, but I quickly came to terms with it. I was too weak right now to take revenge. My grandfather was right; I could only take revenge when I became stronger.
"Yes, I understand, Grandpa. I will definitely work hard to become stronger. I will settle accounts with every single person who killed my parents."
I clenched my fists and secretly vowed in my heart that I would never forgive my parents' murder. I could not forget it, but I could not act rashly either. If something like what just happened happened, it would be bad for myself and others.
"Yes, yes, that's the right way to think."
Grandpa nodded with some relief. Little Shuang'er had finally grown up. Thinking this, Grandpa was secretly happy, but at the same time, he was also a little worried, afraid that I would encounter more dangers.
"Don't worry, no matter what happens to you, I will always be by your side."
Shui Yanling grasped my hand, then looked at me with a firm gaze and said, "Grandpa also nodded and smiled slightly."
Looking at Grandpa and Yanling, I don't know why, but my confidence grew even stronger.
However, we need to deal with the jade pendant issue first before thinking about anything else. But to repair the jade pendant, we need to capture the evil spirit. And what can I use to subdue the evil spirit now? "Grandpa, I want to learn something from you..." Before I could finish speaking, Grandpa interrupted me and said to me with a mysterious look, "No need to say more, I know. You and Yanling come with me."
After saying that, Grandpa put his hands behind his back and walked ahead, as if he was going to take us somewhere.
Yanling and I exchanged a glance, then quickly followed.
Grandpa led us outside and then headed towards the sacred mountain.
Looking at Shenfeng Mountain in front of me, I was a little confused. Grandpa never let me go to that mountain before, so why was he asking me to go now? Shui Yanling, who was beside me, didn't seem to have any other thoughts. She just followed behind me, but she was also a little confused. Why was Grandpa taking them to this mountain? Grandpa walked very slowly ahead, as if he was afraid that we couldn't keep up. But actually, he was just afraid that I couldn't keep up. This mountain was very familiar to Shui Yanling.
I'd never been up this mountain before, and I was very curious about the scenery around me, so I walked around, looking at my surroundings.
Chapter Fifty-Six: Too Quiet
But I really couldn't see any difference between this mountain and other mountains. It was covered in the same lush vegetation, but unlike other mountains, this mountain was far too quiet. There were no birdsong, and nothing else alive.
This mountain looks more like a dead mountain, lifeless and gloomy, which makes me feel a little scared. Thinking about the stories I had heard about this mountain, I can't help but feel a chill in my heart.
Thinking that Shui Yanling might be scared in this situation, I turned around to pull her along, but found that she seemed to be completely fine. She wasn't scared at all; in fact, she seemed quite relaxed. The mountain path seemed to have no effect on her whatsoever.
Thinking back to when we hiked together, it was like this before. I remember she mentioned that her home was somewhere nearby, but I don't recall ever seeing her in any villages around here before. I thought I should ask her about it sometime.
Seeing how relaxed she was, I wasn't too worried. As for the claim that this mountain would eat people, since Grandpa was willing to bring us here, it meant that nothing bad should happen.
So I didn't think much of it and just followed behind my grandfather, slowly climbing the mountain. Perhaps because I didn't want to lose to Yanling, I unconsciously increased my climbing speed.
However, I also had some doubts. I remembered that the mountain path on the way home that day was better than this, but I got tired after walking for a short time. But this mountain path, no, I should say there is no such thing as a path. We were just following the path that Grandpa had taken. This path was obviously more difficult than the one we took last time.
But I don't seem to feel tired today. I even feel like I could go a little faster. But I don't have time to think about it now because Grandpa suddenly stopped in front of me.
Seeing that Grandpa had stopped, Yanling and I could only lean against his back and slowly observe what lay ahead.
All I could see ahead was what appeared to be a forest resembling a tropical rainforest, and the trees were all trees whose names I didn't know, or even trees I'd never seen before.
